I can spy a CS-M4 in the background! Basically the same mech/transport as the CS-M3. I'm restoring one for my Dad right now and that timer mechanism is a pain! Just waiting on some belts right now!

I've got this but the left channel of the VU meter isn't working, so I'm only getting sound from the right channel. Any idea what this could be?

First, check the head and the wires. If these are normal, then the REc/PB switch. And the dolby ic. If everything is fine, then you can only test the diodes and transistors.

i have this akai cs-m3 and the problem is sounds wanna come out and vu meter doesn't come out. what should i do for repair this akai cs-m3? thx before

Hi. Check the VU meter, you can also do it with a 1.5 V battery. As long as it's OK, then check the headphones, they make sound. If there is no sound in the headphones, the control and amplifier transistors may be faulty. Maybe check the motherboard potentiometer that controls the VU meter.
