    Just one thing i noticed they you may wish to correct. You stated that the trees take in oxygen and release co2 but this process is actually the opposite

      I was listening out for that, but didn't hear it. For respiration plants use oxygen and release CO2, for Photosynthesis it's opposite

      Thank you for your message and support. Please watch the video on citrus propagation for more details on grafting (or budding, as we refer to it). You can also consult the learning material that is available on the Citrus Resource Warehouse at www.citrusresourcewarehouse.org.za under Learning Resources.

    Thanks for this. Quick question though, if these trees were to be planted in zambia would they produce fruit that tests the same as when they are planted in SA? Considering the difference in the climate.

    Whats your advise on growing citrus fruit in a area with predominantly murram type of soil. There is sufficient water from permanent river , plenty of sunshine and temperature between 18-25 degrees centigrade. I intend to grow pixie and valencia oranges What soil preparations would you recommend ? Many thanks

      Hi. It is difficult to advise you on your conditions, we are only really familiar with South African conditions. I suggest you contact a local nursery, or maybe your local agricultural extension services?

    Do you have pdf book about this lesson? It will be helpful much more than watch the video. Can you share with us?

    WHERE CAN I GET YOUR NURSERY OR PLANTS IN NAMIBIA?

    • @CitrusAcademy1
      @CitrusAcademy1  2 года назад

      Citrus growers in South Africa are supplied by certified nurseries, which also export to other countries and may be able to assist. We do not have information about nurseries in Namibia. Please visit www.citrusres.com/cri-divisions/#cis for more information about certified nurseries, or email cis@cri.co.za.

    Never considered this before, so where does the seed for root stock come from?

    • @CitrusAcademy1
      @CitrusAcademy1  7 лет назад +5

      Hello Tim. Apologies from our side for the late response, and thank you for your interest. The Citrus Foundation Block in the Eastern Cape has fully-grown trees of every variety of rootstock plant. They harvest the fruit from these trees and extract seeds from them, which they make available to citrus nurseries around the country. Some nurseries also have their own foundation blocks and they harvest their own seeds from there, but this is strictly controlled by the Citrus Improvement Scheme. We are planning to do a module on Citrus Rootstocks next year, in which we will explain all this in more detail.
