Well you helped me! My fish was pregnant and it worked :D Thank you for helping me with that!!!! Now I have more fish than before :D My dad was very proud of me to know how to do, but I can thanks you for it :D
Thank you! I'd fashioned my own before in a similar way, but that was over a decade ago, and I didn't have the same materials on hand when I spotted babies in my balloon molly tank tonight. There were 4 survivors and they're safe now, thanks to you. I just happened to have bought soda for the first time in a month too! The bottle worked perfectly!
My guppy just gave birth i did not even know she was pregnant lol i have no breeding trap atm and this just saved 6 of my baby fry works perfect great substitute till my breeding trap arrives GREAT IDEA!!! cheers!!
I think this is a great idea, I have a pregnant Platy and she's about to pop I didn't want to put too much stress on her with a breeder so this is so helpful Ty!
Made one, works like a charm. Took 10 mins with a cup of tea. So thank you 😁 Used my oven to melt the plastic too. Obviously be careful and don't place too close.
Dude!! you nailed this outta the park! Most everyone will have a pop/soda bottle lying around! I had everything needed minus the hair dryer, I just used a lighter instead. You saved my Guppy Fry!
I have an Angel fish that looks exactly like that one, and had it in a tank with a breeder tank inside. Some 20 odd guppy fry in there, and one day I left the top off. 3 AM in the morning, the Angel leapt out and splunked into the little breeder tank. Sheer terror and total carnage, poor fry had no place to hide at all, because I took out the slotted divider, and that monster ate every one.
@@cherylmockotr it was tragically funny I guess; that devil fish turning all those fry into a giant poop. I can't decide if she was actually smart enough to know that she could jump out of the water into the breeder tank, or just did it by accident because she got spooked for some reason, and then found herself stuck inside with a load of Happy Meals.
my guppy fish gave 12 babies in her 1st delivery n i have no idea how to keep them safe so i left them in the tank with other fish, there were no baby eating fishes so they survive n grown up little big n after some week again she gave more 24 babies but this time out of total 12+24=36 babies 23 only survived as other babies were eaten by oranda gold fish which i bought newly for my tank :( .... i was worried for survived one n checked youtube for some solution n found your video which i felt useful n made same as u guided .. It was a great idea, i was about to copy,During this covid lockdown it was hard to bought a Breeder ,So i use plastic Pasta strainer, added a hook to hang it in Tank, worked as charm.
very nice! I like how you made the hook to hang it. I have 2 pregnant mollies and 1 that already had fry. I had to net them and only caught 5, 4 died over night but 1 is 2 weeks old now and doing good. he is in 1 gallon of a 10 divided. but I like this idea very much! do you think it would be ok to use a 2 liter and allow the moms to give birth in there? I am not looking to breed but I bought pregnant fish, and plan to keep the survivors.
I just spent two hours fishing fry out from the back of my aquarium where the filter goes. One just died an hour after that. None of these videos on guppies talk about how long it takes for a fish to finish giving birth. They’re all just literally “look what I can do!” Like we’re all 6 here on RUclips!
There are 3 different options. You can either have the mother give birth in a breeding box beforehand so she doesn't kill the fry or in another ceperate tank with enough plants for the fry to hide in. After giving birth (would say that it takes about max. 12 hours for platy fish for example) you can move the mother fish back in the original tank and place the fry in this selfmade 'fry tank'. Another option is to place the mother before giving birth in this selfmade 'fry tank' and move her out again after birth (possibility of fry being eaten by the mother). The last option is to let the motber give birth in the original tank and catch all the fry and place them in there.
@@alwaysyouramanda If you can't find how long the birth of your fish takes, I would recommend keeping an eye on the mother fish. The easiest way to know if birth is done, is to count how many fry are there. If the number of fry doesn't change in 2 hours, it's a high possibility that there won't come more fry and you can move the motherfish out.
@@artfromjustme thanks. That was helpful for me. Can yoi just tell me one more thing. When i move mother to the fish tank and i leave fry in the,, home made fish breeder,, tham how long babies should stay away from mother and other fishes?

Mind you, my sparkling gouramis ray are only 2 mm in size to may get thru holes. They’re incredibly tiny and are from two batches that hatched in same tank within two days of each other. Only had the 5 gouramis for 6 days and two pairs spawned . Nether the less I will make up a fry holder even the tiniest if holes will be better than no holes. Cheers n take care

A “fry trap” in the fish hobby means that it lets in fry but not other fish that might eat them. The fry don’t leave because of their fear of their parents. But some plants in it and the fry will go to it for refuge.
