    I found a way to use a shortcut that runs every time I turn off my morning alarm and creates a list with all the steps to my daily routine. You won’t be using templates and you won’t have sections; it’s not a big deal for me as long as I can automate the whole process. Create a shortcut that will create a new list (I decided to name it with the current date), and add reminders for every step of your routine. I ended the shortcut asking to open the newly created list. Then I created an automation that will run that shortcut every time I stop my morning alarm.

      It can be a bit complex to set up (it took me a while to figure it out) but it is definitely worth it and saves u a lot of time. Smart guy.🙏🏼

    Reminders is such a powerhouse these days. Although I do love Todoist, I did actually make the move to Reminders about 12 months ago and it's not missed a beat so far. Using in combination with Carl's systems, it has all the features you need to be really effective - no more, no less - and I love the fact that there is not much to 'fiddle with' and distract you from getting the core work done.

    I always look forward to your videos. I've probably said it before that I do not take advantage of Reminders as often as I should. Lately I have used Siri to help create reminders but I have a lot of room for improvement. I cannot imagine typing reminds like you did here but I can see the benefits. Keep up the great work!

      For me, morning and closing-down routines are habits. I don't need the reminders.

    Thanks for the new video Carl.
    I think that a couple more updates and it will be possible to think about a full-fledged transition to Reminders. If there was the speed of input and recognition like Todoist, and automation like in Notion, this would have become the best task manager.
    The guys from Cupertino chose the right vector for the development of "personal" applications, including the release of a Diary. Let's see what happens next.

      I do hope Apple keep it simple. In my experience, highly featured apps kill productivity by making organising stuff more appealing than doing stuff.

    Excellent tutorial. Between the expanding functionality of Reminders and Apple Notes I hope there comes a time when I feel confident enough with their capabilities to say good bye to Evernote which I rely on way to much.

      You can download a CSV file template. Then you can import that each morning.

  • @Rgb-z
    @Rgb-z 5 месяцев назад

    To do it the automation-way you could once create a new empty list in reminders (like „daily habits“ and then do an daily automation that runs eg 2h before sunrise and creates every morning the same new reminders (drink water, do your bed, stretching…) into that list.

    • @yostin1548
      @yostin1548 5 месяцев назад

      yeah, but that reminder is not deleted in a widget, it is only synchronized again, do you know how to solve that?

    • @Rgb-z
      @Rgb-z 5 месяцев назад

      @@yostin1548 Im not sure if i get what you mean. But if you tick a point off in the reminder widget, it disappears and moves in the completed section/folder. And the next day it will be created again.
      If you want your reminders categorised in days another alternative is that you make a shortcut that first creates a new list (you can name the list with the variable „current date“ + daily habits for example) and then add reminders to the new created list. But afaik you need to choose the new list manually in the widgets apps every day, if you want to see it there. Dont forget to set an automation that starts this shortcut at a certain time.
      If you add your daily reminders always to the same list you dont have this problem.

    Thank you for the impulse. But why don't you create a list and assign the tasks as recurring daily tasks? That would be a lot less daily work, wouldn't it?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 месяцев назад

      Ah, then you have a lot of tasks floating around in your system. This way you retain complete control and as you should be clearing them daily there’s no errant tasks floating around.

    This is also a great way to manage other things like gym workouts. You can edit the template to include the weights you're working with as you progress.

      I am following this answer!

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 месяцев назад

      Nope. Reminders is an app of interest, but Todoist does so much more and works brilliantly. I don't switch apps that work. I do videos on Reminders because a lot of people are not interested in third-party apps; they just want to get work done.

  • @BoB_Germany

    Hi Carl, there is an easy way to create this list every morning. Shortcut is the right tool but you have to create the list and the reminders directly. To use the template might be not the right solution. I tried it out and created the list at a given time with the wanted reminders. BR

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 месяцев назад +1

      I did consider that but decided that if you automate this, you will eventually begin to ignore it. Taking positive action (introducing the new list each morning) you are being intentional and that will help you to focus better.

    why don't you use repeat function for every task?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  Месяц назад

      You could. This is about building habits, and resetting the day each day aids in habit building. (it also helps you stay focused on the morning routine without tasks getting skipped or missed)

  • @mehmd1913
    @mehmd1913 6 месяцев назад

    Could you not also add each of these subtasks as recurrent reminders as part of the template? You could then create the template, but the list stays in perpetuity and refreshes for the next day while the completed tasks are archived, so to speak, in the completed list. Maybe even make a smart list that tracks the completed templated list?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 месяцев назад +2

      You could, but that will result in a lot of overdue tasks that will very quickly overwhelm your system.

    • @mehmd1913
      @mehmd1913 6 месяцев назад

      @@Carl_Pullein that’s true unless you delete the task when done.

    Why not just use the daily repeating reminder function?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 месяцев назад

      You're not going to complete all these tasks every day. There will be days when you miss or skip some (we're human, after all). This will then leave you with a mess of a task manager with incomplete tasks all over the place. Doing it this way resets your day each morning, and you can get focused again.
