I would have removed that decaying foam completely. Cleaned the prism completely and the retain metal strap. Eventually this foul foam material will continue to decay and eat into the silver of the prism while particles will continue to fall off inside.

Happened to me, prism was ruined by the foam and I over cleaned it and ruined the silver layer on prism! 😂 RIP, it was good ET

Thank you for your excellent video very well explained and great footage. I have this Zenit 122K camera and the selftimer broke down, having the side wheel that activates the rope that activates the mechanism until the red color changes to green, being as if loose, thus not allowing to take the photo automatically after 7 seconds in selftimer.
Do you think this is fixable and whether or not it's worth it on this camera.

I bought a zenit 122 and there's something on the prism maybe fungi or crack or something idk, does it affects the result in film?

Hi Ruel,
If it is a crack, it will not affect the result you get in the film.
If it is a fungus, it would not affect the result on the film either, but it is not convenient to leave that fungus there since it will continue to grow and at some point it will reach the lens infecting it.
