Warrel was an incredible vocalist when he was young and healthy. However, he was not even close to seven octaves. He had around 4 octaves. The end of "soldiers of steel" has his highest note at a Bb5 and on a couple songs from The obsidian conspiracy he did some stuff around Bb1.
I find it painful to see Warrel Dane trying to reach his high pitch from the 80's. Why doesn't he just sing in the barytone range? His voice is so rich. Getting old you lose power over extremes but you acquire a sharp sense of shades. Fuckin good stuff anyway.

Anyway, he is still able to do it (so is Harlford sometimes, and John Arch, same age as Dane, who's voice was better than ever when he came back in 2011), but it seems painful on Dane and I fear he's wearing out his voice. So this is why I'd rather have him sing in the barytone range, so he can keep his voice for a long time.

Looked forward to see him live with Sanctuary during Iced Earths Incorruptible world tour March 7th. RIP Warrel, thanks for the music.

i love his band (Witherfall) but it won't be Sanctuary anymore imo. Warrel was half the band whether most people like it or not
