When you shop at department stores they don't wrap your items, place them in a bag neatly or give you a hand written thank you note. Actually, in LA you get charged for a bag. So why expect so much from a person with limited funds?! As long as the item looks like exactly like the picture I wouldn't complain.
I foof it up for my pleasure. And to be honest, I love it when someone takes the time to do a little some'n some'n. At department stores, you get to see what you're buying, it's brand new and can return if they don't fit. Not so, Poshmark. And how many times have I been ripped off by low-income sellers who jack up the prices on things I could get at a yard sale for a quarter. It ruins it for the great sellers cuz I don't buy as much. Just keepin' it real.
At least people are recycling boxes you really don't need a note. If the shoes are in great shape as described you should be happy remember you're buying used so we should be happy reusing and recycling🙂🌎
This is a really neat method of market research! This was a learning experience for me. I thought I was being extra by caring so much about the presentation of the shipping and the "unboxing" experience, but NOW, I feel much better. I am in awe that people would send packages with such a messy appearance. Whether it's true or not, it makes the buyer think that you don't care. :-(
I've been moving towards selling mainly shoes. So easy to photograph, list, and fun to package! Plus less time consuming than digging through a ton of clothing racks. Profit margins are great as well!
Peach's Tribe I definitely agree! I don't know if you watched my 100 sales in 100 days video but in that i talk about how i really like selling shors for exactly what you said-good margins and they sell quickly! By the way, I'm glad to see you are watching my new videos too! If you have any suggestions for new videos or ways i can improve, let me know! :) -Amber
When I buy something I don’t expect it to be wrapped and tied with twine. I don’t expect a thank you note. That doesn’t happen when you purchase from a retail store so why expect it from Poshmark sellers. I’m buying the item not the wrapping. More importantly it all just gets thrown away so to me that’s just wasteful. Just my opinion.
Poshmark has some dos and don'ts of what they call posh etiquette, and they recommend for sellers to take time to personalize sales with tissue paper, handwritten notes and ribbon prior to shipping.
What you say is true, but as a very very very small time seller, I have time to put some effort into my packaging. I’m finding it fun so that’s why am doing it. I like color coordinating my tissue paper LOL. I’m also doing thank you cards although when I run out of those maybe I’ll stop. Again, I’m just having fun with the experience for now. I do and will continue to wrap items in plastic if I am shipping them in a box. I don’t want to risk water damage to something. Until there’s a better alternative to plastic I am just going to have to keep using it. I figure people who receive items wrapped in these plastic bags can reuse them.
Although I’ve never bought anything from Poshmark, Depop, etc. I like receiving my items nicely packaged and I think it adds to the experience of purchasing plus I like to keep the papers and ribbons and use for when I wrap gifts for holidays or birthdays😊
I have sent out two packages so far and was super nervous that they looked terrible. Apparently people don't give a flying shiiiiit and mine must be a treat to receive lol! Thanks for sharing!
The best packaging was the Sonicare box. I reuse boxes I find to save trees and the environment. I shrink wrap and package well. I also ship fast. I’ve never received a complaint my box was not pretty. But people love how I protect their shoes and ship super fast.
I have a friend that uses fabric to wrap the shoes.... it looks great and you can use a cutting wheel to cut it quickly to size. Also, taking freshly cleaned clothing cutting it into large patches to wrap will work too. Most of the cloths we donate are just sent to bin stores and then bundled up for rags. You can also use wallpaper, gift wrapping paper, or rolls of butcher paper. I used to take stamps with paper bags and stamp fish for men and butterflies for girls and wrap each item in these. It looked really pretty and very crafty. I also use twine to keep everything stable for shipping. Egg cartons work great to keep items in the center of the box that are breakable. Thank You, I will be watching the rest of your videos...
Egg cartons!!! Such a great idea, especially if it’s those awful styrofoam ones that are so bad for the environment! At least they are being reused. I’m going to ask friends to save them for me. You are a genius!!!
If you're selling you should package something that looks professional. What some call excessive packaging I call trying to keep items looking nice while in transit & showing you care about the whole experience not just the money. The bags with the suffocation notice is a great idea. There are several places you can buy those from including Uline & Amazon. I absolutely hate getting packages that people just "throw" the item(s) in the box or try to cram into a small bubble envelope. I try to put things in plastic bags to protect them from the weather if the packaging gets wet or damaged. Plastic & paper can be recycled & sometimes reused.
mlsflamingowi well if you bought from me I ship padded flat rate so you can let me know in advance you want to pay an extra 3.00 to $5.00 to have it in a box. Both ways will deliver the item just as safely and quickly, usually this is a no brainer for anyone. :)
Great video. Definitely the pink tissue with the cord and the wrapping in plastic. It's the way you treat people. You want to make them feel appreciated. You want them to know that you are proud of what you sell and you want to go the extra mile to make it feel like a real shop or boutique.
Hi! I skimmed through the comments but didn't read all of them. Something I do that may help you. All those bubble pillows you get in Amazon boxes and what not. Save them! I do re-purpose any bubble wrap I get. I put those inside the shoes to keeps them from collapsing. Then wrap in tissue, then a poly mailer. I have gotten rave remarks on shoes packaging. Those worrying about too much packaging - you can reuse some stuff whenever possible. BUT USPS does leave boxes in the rain sometimes and (true story) 1 PFF had what looked like milkshake leaked all over her stuff. It was nasty. So no matter what - you should always have a plastic protection layer.
@@AmberResells what was the bit in the video where you said it was not allowed to put the USPS bubble mailer inside the USPS box? I don't get that? I shipped a mug once and used two of those USPS bubble mailers for protection, then put inside a brown box and shipped first class (under a pound). Plus they're free.
@AmberMontana Great video I started selling on Poshmark alittle over a year ago, I have to say I purchase just as much as I sell lol, that's a whole other video. But I was just telling my friend another seller, when I purchase something and I'm very excited to get and it might sound childish but get upset when people just throw the item in the box, example today I got 4 boxes 2 of them were just thrown in box no note nothing, the other 2 were carelessly wrapped with paper my feeling is doesn't take long to put alittle effort into it. I personally wrap item in white, or pretty colored tissue paper, put ribbon around it. Write a card to thank them, and I always add alittle gift on top of package, doesn't have to be expensive just thoughtful. This is my job now that I'm a emptynester and Iove to shop. And would love for them to come back to my closet again. Again Thank you @lvandermaas that's my closet name.
What percentage of your customers are repeat and have any said they are repeat because of your packaging? I do little extras as well but my main return customers are because of bundle pricing and I will specifically source items based on knowing something I found is exactly the thing customer X wants. I do wrap in tissue, have a business card that I write a personal thanks on back and have extras for higher priced items but I really do not think any of that has an effect on repeat business.
I love wrapping my items in tissue paper and twine and adding a note. I think it feels more personal and let’s the buyer know I appreciate their purchase. I have yet to sell any shoes so I did love the video because it gives some ideas on the best way to wrap for me.
If you don't mind the opinion of a Seller and Buyer on this site... Poshmark is supposed to be a unique buying experience and chance for the everyday person to build a brand for themselves, also provide an intimate shopping experience for fashionistas with the possibility to score a great deal. As a seller I believe in providing a convenience, delivering excellent customer service, and ultimately showing gratitude in every aspect of each transaction. If I sold shoes I would place them in a shoe box with each shoe wrapped in tissue paper individually and include a thank you note. Poshmark is wonderful because you can communicate directly with your customers, I let mine know how it comes packaged and if they would like it other wise I would provide it. As a buyer I want the full experience that Poshmark offers, I utilize the bundle feature and I let the seller know what I am expecting so that there is no surprises. I personally will never buy from anyone who can't put effort into proper packaging. I just feel there are better apps for people who don't care for packaging.
ABSOLUTELY, this is why is POSHmark. Every step must be Posh! There are other platforms that don't pride themselves in every aspect. We pay a very steep commission to keep things better than the rest. Take pride in what you sell, and will probably have repeat sales... that's the bottom line. With items traveling through rain, sleet, snow, and postal workers that have literally stepped on my boxes, am I glad that the seller had wrapped up merchandise in plastic. One box arrived sans a whole corner... and had it not been for the careful seller, I would have lost jewelry in transit. Recycle, reuse and reduce does not equal throwing items in a box and NO THANK YOU NOTE??? Rude 🤪🤪🤪
I liked all of them. Considering what this is, the quality of the product matters most. I will begin to send items in a plastic bag now. Tissue, bubble wrap, filler paper to take up space is good so things don't get scuffed or move around too much. Good video, thank you !
Hi, good idea for a video! The outer plastic wrap is a polymailer. I buy a lot of clothes online and have receive orders in these most of the time. I try to reuse them for shipping if they are in good shape. I have also sold lots of my daugher's clothing before actively selling on Poshmark, so have bought them because you can get cute prints and they are so quick and easy. In response to a comment above about plastic: I try to reuse and recycle as much as possible, but know the mail system can be hard on boxes. When I use a box, I also try to bag in plastic to help ensure the product won't be damaged by moisture, etc. If there is a better alternative, I'd love to learn more about it, but hoping my customers might reuse as well.
It is ok to resize (frankenbox) priority boxes as long as they are not flat rate boxes. I wrap my shoes in tissue paper then place in plastic bag. Good idea in case box gets wet. I ship flats in padded flat rate. Love your videos, good info.
Jackie no I ship volume. I seal the bags and assign them to their inventory bins. Once I get the order the most I will do is a decorative polymailer and thank you card. If you are selling as a hobby then indulge in tissue paper if you must.
Hey Huda I agree. You can still wrap plain and make it professional. We are not all Etsy sellers putting cute little bows. My niche is fast shipping and safe packaging. I’m not going to tissue wrap everything but I do shrink wrap to protect the shoes and add a business card note with everything. It has nothing to do with lazy. Time is money.
One of the most helpful poshmark videos I’ve seen. I like the one with the twine although I think they could have skipped the outer plastic bag. I was on here searching for shoe packing inspiration when I found your video. I wrap each shoe in taped tissue then wrap them in tissue together with a thank you note taped on top. I saw someone use butcher paper in their boxes and feel like that might be a good option too.
I loved the package with the pink tissue & twine, cute. I also liked the original shoe box wrapped in tape. I love receiving the original shoe box with shoes I buy. I also liked the box with the black & white stripped tissue paper, that was cute.
I also put a card with their name/address, just in case the box is destroyed and the package is open. That way they know where to repack the item with their address. It's just safe that way. I also send a thank you card.
As a seller I make sure the item is packed with plenty of previously used packing material so they don’t bounce around. I do use zip locks a lot just Incase of moisture. As a buyer I just want my item to arrive in the condition promised. I don’t care about ribbons and multiple layers of unnecessary packaging.
Great content! I love your videos. I agree with less plastic packaging but I do like tissue paper- especially if it is not taped because it can be reused.
Carol Salkind I have this thought every time I pack up a sale. :/ I've thought about just putting them in a ziploc bag and then adding a note saying that i didnt use tissue paper because it will just be thrown away but they can reuse the ziploc bag and it protects the item from possible water damage on the trip in the mail. I wonder if there are any sellers out there that have found a good middle ground to this dilemma.
I don't use tissue for the fact that will throw it away. Also, I just started reselling and where I work, I get to reuse bubble wrap, plastic bags and boxes all for free! Why buy colored tissue? That's my thought. As long as my items don't smell and arrive as discribed, and I include a note and a little something, it's okay. I package my items the way I would want an item I order to arrive.
AmberMontana I have bought some really cute polymailers on Amazon that I use to "wrap" my items...but instead of sealing them I tie them with ribbon or twine and include a note that says "please feel free to use this polymailer to sell something from your own closet. Thanks for recycling and helping the environment". It's kind of a win-win. And it makes packing really easy!
AmberMontana yes, feedback that my packaging is super cute and thoughtful. @redlipstickrn. I have some items I'm packing up tonight.. I will post a picture.
Late to your video but I've been selling for years and always use a zip lock bag and white tissue or paper. This combo works well if the package gets wet. Smaller sized shoes often fit into a padded flat rate mailer so that works too. That pink tissue in an unsealed plastic bag looked pretty but man it offered no protection. I once got a blouse wrapped in colored tissue and it got damp and it turned into tie dye so I've never used colored tissue.
I try to reuse packaging items as well when mailing out my packages. I also make sure that each items especially shoes are wrapped in plastic to protect them from getting wet. I would hate to receive my package damaged by the rain.
Great video and I too liked the pink twine wrapped. Really though it's much better to wrap shoes individual to keep one from damaging other during shipping. Also because I hate waste I really like buying things where they recycle packaging. The note cards are nice but completely unnecessary and eventually get tossed in the garbage. Just found you, love your videos
I started watching this video by accident and just continued watching because ...shoes! Lol! I liked your voice and The fact that you have sisters to buy for (I have three sisters)!
I like the idea of the shoes in the actual box. I'm one that likes to keep my shoes in its original box. I also buy and sell from Poshmark so if you ever buy shoes from me you will definitely get them in the original box.
Thank you for your video and for taking the time to review different ways of shipping shoes. I would have to say the pink one was the best followed by the one that was individually wrapped in striped tissue paper. Can't wait to check out the next videos.
I just watched the rnzy couple's video on youtube on how they package and ship shoes since they mainly just sell shoes. They use bubble wrap. Good video to watch too for ideas. It's always interesting to see how people ship on Poshmark. I put each shoe in a Walmart bread bag, tie with a ribbon, then put them together in a piece of shipping paper and put in the usps shoe boxes with my business card. I always use plastic bags to protect against the elements in case the box gets wet.
This was so interesting! I just shipped a pair of shoes yesterday and wished I had seen this beforehand lol...I wrapped each shoe individually inside the shoe box which I placed in a USPS box. It was decent but hopefully it arrives ok lol.
Hey Amber! I have probably watched this video about 10 times😊 LOL. It's one of my favs. Idk....something about unboxings, and especially shoes I LOVE. Could you do another one with maybe boots...I have quite a few tall boots/booties listed and would love to see how other people package theirs. Thanks a ton! 💖😘
Hey! Wow, I'm glad you like it so much! I always have a super hard time packaging boots! I'd do another video with boots..but the problem is that I don't need boots. Maybe I could buy some boots and then use them as a giveaway? I'll put in my video idea list!!
Haha totally understand! 😆After I posted my comment, that possibility crossed my mind.😆 Or even a video on how *you package your shoes and ship and/or how you would package tall boots, and take us through the process. 😊I just sold some tall Steve Madden boots and I am stumped on how to ship them...I'd prefer not to fold them, but that may be my only option at the moment. Anyways, you always have great content and it's always a pleasure watching you! 😊💕
@@gabih7481 Thank you Gabi! I folded the first pair of tall boots that I sold and it was the first non-5 star review I ever received. Last time I sold a tall pair I cut a printing paperbox and reshaped it to the right size. It was a serious pain to do but I got a positive review! I am really liking this boot video idea because it's something I struggle with too! Looking for boots now on posh.
i use the bread bags from walmart to package up everything that will fit (i tape closed and write an individual item number for the item on every bag so things are easier to find when shipping, no item number is ever re-used, i started with #1 and just kept going)...i have also bought bigger clear bags from amazon and bigger polybags from amazon for much larger items. i always double bag things (put in clear bag and then in a polymailer or box to mail)...i do NOT use tissue paper (the colored ones bleed if they get wet)...i will use bubble wrap on shoes so that they wont damage each other even when they are wrapped individually. i make sure the boxes have no empty space so i either cut them down or add kraft paper to fill in the spaces or the boxes can get crushed which can damage the items (i have worked in shipping and receiving for years and pack the way i was always taught and i use to work for the postal service so i have see what can happen to packages that werent done "correctly"). with ebay and other sites i print a packing slip and write a thank you note at the bottom...with poshmark i copy mailing info and item info and hand write a thank you note at the bottom. i use a lot of usps priority supplies, my free ebay supplies, and i also buy polymailers on amazon...i do not reuse very much stuff (just bubble wrap, packing peanuts, kraft paper from my wholesale orders)...i was always taught that you dont re-use stuff (boxes, polymailers) to send stuff to your customers...only use that to send stuff to friends...i consider myself a business and want to look professional.
Thanks, that's actually exactly why I made it. Before making videos, there were a lot of videos I'd search for on youtube but none existed. This was one of them! So i decided to make my own channel to make those videos!
Thx for fast forwarding when u unwrap it. I will take anyway the send. It takes alot to wrap and give a note. I've done both ways and get the same basic 5 star response. I almost always sent a very handmade t.y. note and no one cares or mentions .. 😉
It’s wet and rainy where I live. I’m paranoid about my item getting ruined en route to its new home. I wrap everything in bread bags. So far I have a 100% satisfaction rate.
Great informative video Amber :-) I really like these kinds of videos your doing, shows the rest of us Poshers what to do and not do I think. Thank you
Great Great video!!! I have only recently started selling on Poshmark. Have been selling on eBay and I "kinda" specialize in shoes. I've toyed a lot with shipping certain types of shoes as they are all different shapes and sizes. I haven't gotten around to the "pretty" packaging on Posh yet...lol...mainly b/c I'm a guy and that's something I have to learn. I ship mostly in priority shoe boxes for probably 95 percent of my shipments. I learned that the main thing for me to focus on is making sure the shoes get to their buyer in the same condition as described and photographed. With that said, for eBay, I always put shipping cushion in the bottom of the box, then wrap each shoe individually in those clear wastebasket bags and leave a good bit of air in it and then tie it. That way, the shoes have room to move without getting crushed...like say a nice women's strappy sandal. Then I include a packing slip and top the box off with another piece of shipping cushion. A lot of sellers would say that is way too much weight, but it's really not and I've never had a damage claim. I really just put myself in the buyer's "shoes" and package the way I'd want to receive it. On Posh, I package the same way and include a note. I just always think the buyer is paying for the product rather than the pretty package, BUT I do understand that a lot of buyers will return based on the whole experience. So that's why I watched this video. I need to get some pink tissue paper now...LOL. Keep up the great content. Appreciate you!
Sounds like you have a lot of experience shipping shoes. Question for you: how do you ship cowboy boots? This has been an issue for me on poshmark: finding a priority box big enough to fit cowboy shoes well. Do you stuff the inside of the boots/ships when you ship?
I haven't sold any boots on Posh but I have on eBay. It's pretty much the same I suppose. For the women's boots that are smaller, you can generally modify a USPS 1095 Priority Box with just a few simple scores of a straight blade. Basically, you lay the 1095 flat where the flaps are on the right side, then measure over about 3 inches to the left from the slit in the flap and score it. Then flip it over and do the exact same thing on the other side. Then using the score marks, just mold the box into a bigger size. You'll get the idea once you see it in person. But yes, I do stuff the boot with craft paper to make sure it keeps its shape. Again that adds to weight but it's certainly worth the expense on a $150 pair of boots. And I will always make sure they can't shift around too much. This also depends on how far they are going. If I know a shoe is going overseas, but the buyer is using a US transfer company (which is where I'm shipping to - Portland, OR or San Diego, etc), I'll take extra caution because this box is probably gonna be a mess when it arrives in Tinbukto. I don't ship overseas right now, but I should. For larger boots with a much higher (or taller) shaft, you basically have to get a box that works and use priority labeling for Posh. I know with eBay, you don't have to use priority. Ebay has boxes that are great for boots. They are size 16x12x8. They cost about a buck a piece but that's cheap than what you get at Wally. So if you're shipping a lot of boots, getting bulk boxes would be a better option. But if you're shipping maybe one or two a month, you might just pick up one when you need it for cash flow purposes. You basically take a 16x12x8 and carefully package your boots like you would in any other shoe box (where the boots are laying opposite directions in the box). Again, I stuff the boots to hold shape, cushion the bottom of the box, carefully get your boots in the box (like arranging a flower bouquet), top it off with more cushion, and then score the box like you did the 1095 and fold the flaps over and seal it. But on Posh, don't forget to put some pink or blue tissue paper, a handwritten card, gold string tied into a bow, some chocolates, a gift card to Starbucks, etc...HAHAHA...Just kidding. Just make it work for you and use your instincts...you're gutsy so I'm certain your boot packages will rock. Oh one more thing...let's say you have a pair of new with box shoes and you're wanting to ship them priority for Posh or Ebay (you may know this already), you can use the modified 1095 for that. If my shoes won't fit in a regular priority shoe box, I modify the 1095 and the whole thing will fit inside the modified 1095. I have some photos of how I modify the 1095 if you want to see how I do it. Let me know and good luck. P.S. DO. NOT. CUT. YOUR. FINGER. This is my disclaimer and if you tell anyone you cut your finger using this method, I'll deny telling you how to do it. :)
@@AmberResells Hey yes I recently started selling on Posh as SMOKYPARK. I stopped not long after because I got frustrated with it. But then I decided to give it a real shot and have been selling more there. Also recently started selling on Mercari and have done well there, too. Looking forward to another video.
Thanks for the video. New sub here. I love making my packages all cutesie. But I have a couple things posted and I seriously don’t know how I will package them...a very long puffer coat (trench length) and a pair of EMU Australia boots that go to the knee (ugh like boots) I no longer have the original box. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Great video. I liked the tissue paper/twine in plastic bag too. I usually add tissue paper over a plastic bag, but it probably gets messed up that way. It’s probably just me but I worry color tissue paper might bleed on my items. But it wouldn’t matter with white. Anyway, fun to see your videos. Nancy (a newbie)@bargaingoodness
interesting idea for a video. it made me think more about my own packaging. and girl, you need to think about a different color than black for all your shoes!
But black just matches everything! :) My boyfriend pointed out the other day that I have four black cardigans that I wear in a cycle, so this past weekend I went out and bought a green, blue, and orange cardigan.
I find it amazing that people like the packaging more than the actual purchase.i think you should be happy with the shoes not how they are wrapped.curious to know why you pay more attention to the wrap job and note.?
Because thats what her video was about. It was giving other sellers an idea of how other people package. I found it informative.. its important to always send a thank you note.
I think the reason is probably the buyer wants to feel like they've received a present 🎁 & they want to feel excited about something. Some people need that :)

As a seller I believe in providing a convenience, delivering excellent customer service, and ultimately showing gratitude in every aspect of each transaction. Every store I have ever ordered from comes packaged nice and they always show some kind of customer appreciation. I always order more from them.
My Bubble just because an item isn’t wrapped in smelly pink paper with a throw away wasteful not does not equal poor service, that equals superficial service. Good service is fast shipping, accurate description with a safe and clean arrival. Nothing more nothing less.
@@redpilledpatriot8484 That is your opinion and preferences no problem with it. I personally would never buy from the seller again. I always ask if they can package it nicely before I buy. It gives the seller the option to provide the service or not.
I think that an interior plastic bag is essential because delivery services leave packages on my (your) doorstep during rain without covering them in plastic. An interior plastic bag protects your item from the rain.
it's illegal to use priority mail within another priority mail package. Some may disagree but that's why USPS pricing goes up cause some folks like to abuse it.
Lilly Yeah, their website specifically says that you cannot use it as packing materials and also says you cannot change the size of the box. Maybe that seller just didn't know!
If the price did go up it would only be a one time price increase of 3 cents. It's not like people started doing it yesterday. Prices increase yearly and mainly due to inflation / overprinting US dollar
Thanks so much for doing this video. I am considering adding more shoes to my Poshmark closet and have been wondering recently how to package them. I love that you ordered from different sellers to give options on how to wrap shoes. I agree with you that the tissue paper with the plastic bag definitely looked the best. I always appreciate when there is a card too :)
AmberMontana what brands sell really well? I get so overwhelmed looking at shoes 😳 I live in flip flops but I want to learn shoes ! Do you have a video by chance on good shoes to pick up
Jenny Laura Matisse, Sam Edelman, and Cobb Hill are a few that sold quickly and for a good profit for me! Also, any boots that are real leather (not man made) and in good condition. I dont have a best shoe brands video yet!
I just use a padded flat rate envelope if they fit... no complaints yet. If they don't fit I just bubble wrap and throw them in a polybag. Easiest way I've found to do it. And omg the cut up priority box.... so bad, hopefully they realize they can't do that. Usps could send them back or make the recipient pay extra.
The clear plastic bags are called bread bags, can be purchased at any grocery store or Walmart... they come with the suffocation label on them. I use them all the time for clothing or shoes.
Very interesting concept of video, I’m never seen it before. I enjoyed it very much! The pink tissue was my favorite also but they probably overdid it with the second bag. Shoes are always easy sell for me and an easy ship. I always choose the postal shoebox. Thanks for the video!
Sarah Mejia Yes, I agree! I've adopted her shipping method minus the twine and second bag. Also instead of a card i just tape on a square piece of cardstock with a note. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! -Amber
Last packaging (in the sonic box) was the best- all the rest are a waste of material. I hate using and receiving plastic shipping products. Paper products are usually biodegradable. Simplicity is best.
I honestly don’t care much about how my Poshmark items are packaged as far as presentation goes. Arriving as described and not mauled by USPS is all I ask. Tissue paper and thank you notes other than a quick glance just go in the trash. When I mail out, I put the items in a plastic bag, wrap with two pieces of tissue paper, place a thank you sticker on the outside and place in a poly mailer. I may switch to no tissue paper shortly...
You bought some cute shoes!!! I sell on eBay so far, I free upgrade to priority, ship shoes in the priority mail shoebox, ship really fast, each clean shoe in a plastic bag, packing material on ends so shoes don't jostle around during shipping. No tissue ever, no note. After watching the news on the starving birds with stomachs full of plastic, I'm rethinking using plastic bags. In the buyers note I thank them for their business, and if they leave feedback I send them a personal message thank you. I use recycled materials / boxes, and pretty design bags also. I think buyers want fast shipping and the best product possible. I actually like the size 12 boots packing best. The boots could have air circulate freely which is better for the suede, no issue unless the box encountered rain. The box looked recycled.
You can get free Priority Mail boxes for shoes. You can get a lot of different sizes for Priority Mail for free. A note there are flat rate Priority Mail & regular Priority Mail (which is most of the time cheaper).
Just found you and Subscribed I love this videos I wondered how other seller pack stuff. Ive been selling for a year and just ordered my first bundle and it was horrible! It showed up 3 pairs of shorts (1 wrong brand and crotch marks so they were not clean, 1 wrong color and hairy after pics are on a wood floor so who knows where it came from) in a pink poly...no clear bag..no card nothing. I was so disappointed! She did cancel the order and let me keep but still eww. Those clear bags are bread bags and come over 100 for 3 bucks! I have put my stuff in them since the beginning and EVERYTHING no matter the cost now I order poly bags and I'm not a huge seller. It made me realize how important appearance is and how it makes someone feel. I was shocked because her store looked so proper I was expecting something more professional. If you going to take the time to take pretty pictures, they should package same way. I wear a size 9-10 so I totally get the hard to find shoes and big feet :) I actually look for biggest I can find for my closet since most store will order 50 size 7-8 but 3 size 11 or 12. I'm @glittergurl01 on Posh, glad I found your channel :)
samantha campbell Thanks for subscribing! I've never had something that was as bad as what you are describing with what you bought-that sucks! I'm glad the seller at least gave you a refund. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
NEW SUBBIE!!! After a 70+ pound weight loss, I had to completely replace ALL of my clothing items, including shoes/boots, belts, etc (and undergarments). So for the last 8-9 months, I've been receiving items (mostly from Poshmark and Mercari) several times a week, and one day I opened 8 boxes that all showed up on the same day!!! As a buyer...on one hand I love to see professional, beautifully wrapped items, but on the other hand I'm left with SOOO MUCH TRASH it's ridiculous! I'm going to start selling soon, so I've saved as much as I can to re-use. This includes the twine or ribbon tied around items, tissue paper (if it's wrinkled I'll use it to fill up extra room in a box), and even the little tulle baggies jewelry sometimes comes in. I love when stuff is put in a ziplock bag, so I can reuse those for a lot of other things. I HATE getting an item (especially shoes) that is not wrapped at all. One time I received a box and the necklace that was part of my bundle was half hanging out of the box! Thank goodness it got stuck to the packing tape or it would have fallen out. I'm surprised no one stole it! Anyway... I enjoy your informative videos! They will really help me once I finally get started listing my 250-300 items!!! That might not sound like a lot to you, but to me it's overwhelming. LOL Thank you for a great video!!! 😁😁😁
Good job on the weight loss and thanks for subscribing! I actually have a friend that lost about that much weight and she gave me her clothes to list. We are going to split the profit 50/50. I'll be making a video of those items soon! 250-300 is a lot to list! I've only listed 260 items so far. Good luck! Just trying to list 5 to start with and then go from there. :)
Amber Resells - If I had someone to list the bulk of my stuff, I'd split the profit with them for sure! I'm letting summer get away from me and I have a lot of cute summer maxi dresses, etc I should list first. It's all the measuring and picture taking I know will take a lot of time and Poshmark is so competitive! I think I'm stressing myself out by overthinking it. But I do have SO MUCH since I literally replaced everything including shoes/boots...I never dreamed I'd lose weight in my feet but I did! LOL My weight loss came as a result of my chronic illness I developed a couple of years ago. I needed to lose 50 from having a freak accident in 2009 and the 3 surgeries that followed. I kept eating and drinking like I was still active, but I was either in a wheelchair or on crutches! LOL Sorry...another long comment. I get carried away. 😂 Thanks for all the great videos and tips!!! 😁
I don't mind long comments. Set small goals and be okay with your pictures sucking at first. lol :) I have like 100 things unlisted, but I just focus on smaller goals like "List 5 pairs of shoes before I go to bed." or "List 10 items before the end of the weekend." Keep me updated on your progress!
I prefer limited packaging. Too must waste with all that paper and plastic.
The pink paper packaging was done very professional. Congrats to that seller.
I wrap my shoes separate to prevent them from rubbing and scuffing each other in transit, and bubble wrap to cushion and protect.

Totally agree. A retailer sends a packaging slip and that’s about it.
Exactly, main thing is items come in good condition.
Although I’ve never bought anything from Poshmark, Depop, etc. I like receiving my items nicely packaged and I think it adds to the experience of purchasing plus I like to keep the papers and ribbons and use for when I wrap gifts for holidays or birthdays😊
I keep and recycle as many packaging items as possible- boxes, bubble bags, bubble wrap, ect.
Me, too. 🌸
Thanks for the idea of using egg cartons for breakables, also great recycling idea, would never have thought of that! x
This should be pinned to the top of comments
Egg cartons!!! Such a great idea, especially if it’s those awful styrofoam ones that are so bad for the environment! At least they are being reused. I’m going to ask friends to save them for me. You are a genius!!!
You have the best video ideas! This was so clever, it's interesting to see how everyone ships differently.
The packaging is nice but I mostly love it when people clean previously worn shoes so they feel as close to new as possible.
I wish I had the patience and time to put effort into my packaging lol thankfully nobody has ever complained though
Same here
That sandwich bag is actually bread bags from walmart. They are super cheap and come in handy with smaller items. Great video. I loved watching this!
Brittany Tollberg Bricks Bargains Thanks! I'm watching your videos now!
Hi .. I have a question regarding Poshmark do you have to file taxes on it ? If so how much would you have to earn to be taxable ?
If you're selling you should package something that looks professional. What some call excessive packaging I call trying to keep items looking nice while in transit & showing you care about the whole experience not just the money. The bags with the suffocation notice is a great idea. There are several places you can buy those from including Uline & Amazon. I absolutely hate getting packages that people just "throw" the item(s) in the box or try to cram into a small bubble envelope. I try to put things in plastic bags to protect them from the weather if the packaging gets wet or damaged. Plastic & paper can be recycled & sometimes reused.
YASSSSSSSSSSSSS
mlsflamingowi well if you bought from me I ship padded flat rate so you can let me know in advance you want to pay an extra 3.00 to $5.00 to have it in a box. Both ways will deliver the item just as safely and quickly, usually this is a no brainer for anyone. :)
I feel you. Keep it up. Professionalism will get you repeat buyers. Keep a standard. You can never go wrong.
Also be careful with colored tissue paper. If the package gets wet it can bleed onto your items.
Reusing the Amazon packaging is a great idea, I'll definitely do that in the future!
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Yes i do that. Savings. Recycle.
The sonic care was cute, I think it when people re-use boxes
Love your packaging videos and that you have a packaging series, not many youtubers do it justice like yourself! Thank you, very helpful!
Im starting my own Poshmark so this was super helpful thanks!
Rude 🤪🤪🤪
Thank you for showing different shoe packagings methods
You're welcome!
I liked all of them. Considering what this is, the quality of the product matters most. I will begin to send items in a plastic bag now. Tissue, bubble wrap, filler paper to take up space is good so things don't get scuffed or move around too much. Good video, thank you !
Thanks for sharing. This is so nice to see the difference in packaging. I sell a lot of shoes so this was great. Thanks again!
I love your taste in shoes! I sold my first pair yesterday and was really confused on how to send them.
Too much plastic waste 😣
Jackie no I ship volume. I seal the bags and assign them to their inventory bins. Once I get the order the most I will do is a decorative polymailer and thank you card. If you are selling as a hobby then indulge in tissue paper if you must.
I package better than half of the sellers. Never use tissues. Include a receipt with thank you written on. 🌿💕🌿
Mandy Lou Pomeroy I like what you did! I think the butcher paper is probably excessive though. Thanks for watching the video and commenting!
Excessive amount of packing material in some cases. I wish people considered the impact all this packaging has on the environment.
Shannon Gentry That sounds like a potentially good idea! Have you gotten much feedback about it from buyers?
AmberMontana yes, feedback that my packaging is super cute and thoughtful. @redlipstickrn. I have some items I'm packing up tonight.. I will post a picture.
I love this video! I had concerns about how to package my items nicely and inexpensively. I got some really good tips. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed this video, I've been wondering how others wrap their shoes. Thank you for doing this! And I think you are an awesome sister!!!!
Thanks Betty!
I can barely touch used shoes before disinfecting them let alone hold the shoes by the bottom haha. Thanks for the video though very helpful!!
This was a great informational video. It was good to see how other sellers compare to what I do. Thank for taking the time.
Cat Bodine You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
I love nice packaging! It makes me feel like I’m opening a Christmas present 💝
I started watching this video by accident and just continued watching because ...shoes! Lol! I liked your voice and The fact that you have sisters to buy for (I have three sisters)!
Thanks! How cool- where are you at in the order? I'm the oldest sister.
Amber Resells I’m the second oldest. I have one older and two younger sisters.
I like the idea of the shoes in the actual box. I'm one that likes to keep my shoes in its original box. I also buy and sell from Poshmark so if you ever buy shoes from me you will definitely get them in the original box.
Thank you for taking the time to share the different ways sellers package items very helpful video.
Happy to have bumped into you~enjoyed this video!
Lori Murguia thank you!
Thank you for your video and for taking the time to review different ways of shipping shoes. I would have to say the pink one was the best followed by the one that was individually wrapped in striped tissue paper. Can't wait to check out the next videos.
I like the Pink with the Twine wrap one. I would do the same with the note.
New subbie , you are doing a great job.
ReVamp-Ideas 101 TV Thank you!!
Bread bags from walmart. I pack clothes in them
What size? The size i picked up didnt fit my plus sized items... thanx
Yes!
This video and other ones showing actual items are wonderful.
O shoot😟I guess I better find a bigger box then😉 haha the struggle is real!😆Thanks for the feedback! 💕
i use the bread bags from walmart to package up everything that will fit (i tape closed and write an individual item number for the item on every bag so things are easier to find when shipping, no item number is ever re-used, i started with #1 and just kept going)...i have also bought bigger clear bags from amazon and bigger polybags from amazon for much larger items. i always double bag things (put in clear bag and then in a polymailer or box to mail)...i do NOT use tissue paper (the colored ones bleed if they get wet)...i will use bubble wrap on shoes so that they wont damage each other even when they are wrapped individually. i make sure the boxes have no empty space so i either cut them down or add kraft paper to fill in the spaces or the boxes can get crushed which can damage the items (i have worked in shipping and receiving for years and pack the way i was always taught and i use to work for the postal service so i have see what can happen to packages that werent done "correctly"). with ebay and other sites i print a packing slip and write a thank you note at the bottom...with poshmark i copy mailing info and item info and hand write a thank you note at the bottom. i use a lot of usps priority supplies, my free ebay supplies, and i also buy polymailers on amazon...i do not reuse very much stuff (just bubble wrap, packing peanuts, kraft paper from my wholesale orders)...i was always taught that you dont re-use stuff (boxes, polymailers) to send stuff to your customers...only use that to send stuff to friends...i consider myself a business and want to look professional.
Great, informative video, very unique...have never seen anyone cover this topic. Thanks!
Thanks, that's actually exactly why I made it. Before making videos, there were a lot of videos I'd search for on youtube but none existed. This was one of them! So i decided to make my own channel to make those videos!
What a good idea to share this kind of video! Thanks for the tips!😊
Thx for fast forwarding when u unwrap it. I will take anyway the send. It takes alot to wrap and give a note. I've done both ways and get the same basic 5 star response. I almost always sent a very handmade t.y. note and no one cares or mentions .. 😉
Thanks so much, these videos are so helpful. You are amazing!!
please make more videos like this! I loved watching it :)))
Marie Johnson I will at some point when i need more clothes and shoes! :)
Amber Resells awesome! I’m super excitrd
It’s wet and rainy where I live. I’m paranoid about my item getting ruined en route to its new home. I wrap everything in bread bags. So far I have a 100% satisfaction rate.
I agree.. the shoes packaged in the pink tissue and twine was the best packaging! Great video btw! Thank you!
Individual wrapped shoes is the best x stops them scuffing if they rubbed together .
@@immersivezen Hey! Do you sell on Poshmark? If so, what is your closet? Im looking to do another video like this with boots.
@@AmberResells Hey yes I recently started selling on Posh as SMOKYPARK. I stopped not long after because I got frustrated with it. But then I decided to give it a real shot and have been selling more there. Also recently started selling on Mercari and have done well there, too. Looking forward to another video.
@@immersivezen just checked out your closet butt didnt see any boots. Dang.
I agree...colored tissue paper scares me unless i am shipping a dark colored item.
Excellent idea for a video, very helpful!
Thank you!
The pink tissue paper packaging looked the nicest. Fun video!!
ChompyandStompy Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
interesting idea for a video. it made me think more about my own packaging. and girl, you need to think about a different color than black for all your shoes!
But black just matches everything! :) My boyfriend pointed out the other day that I have four black cardigans that I wear in a cycle, so this past weekend I went out and bought a green, blue, and orange cardigan.
Wow thank you for this video I've always wondered how other people package things
If you don't mind the opinion of a Shopper and Buyer on this site...
As a buyer I want the full experience that Poshmark offers, If I want lack-luster there are many places to go for average or poor service.
Never done it but now i know.
If the price did go up it would only be a one time price increase of 3 cents. It's not like people started doing it yesterday. Prices increase yearly and mainly due to inflation / overprinting US dollar
Lilly really?! I had a worker at the post office do that for me.
I love this idea, it's great for a new reseller to watch and get ideas! Also you are so beautiful, you remind me so much of my niece mariska!
Loved the video. Definitely thought the pink wrapping with twine and letter was the best.
Jenny Laura You should add more shoes; so far shoes have been my most profitable category!

Great video idea! I sometimes struggle with packaging too!
Thank you Jennifer!
Thank you for sharing the video. I haven't sold shoes but great ideas here on what to do and not when I do. God Bless you and yours...
Teresa Borum Thanks!
Last packaging (in the sonic box) was the best- all the rest are a waste of material. I hate using and receiving plastic shipping products. Paper products are usually biodegradable. Simplicity is best.
I don’t do posh, just eBay but this was cool to see how ppl send shoes... THK YOU
TheJay Os Thanks!
Great idea for a video! Love your channel !
maybemommy Thanks!
It is ok to use priority mailer inside of priority box . Officially confirmed by the postmaster in our town.
Thank you so much for sharing. This was very helpful.
Great video! Thank you so much for this!
You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
Pink is our winner today. :)
Nice comparison video 👍.
Lucky brand flats. Lol how did we know they were going to be in the video somewhere!!! 😂😂
Is it ok to put shoes in a different brand name box before I put in the shipping box?
