  • Apple pie moonshine recipe, making a half batch with half a fifth of 190 proof everclear, half a gallon of apple juice, half a gallon of apple cider, 2 cups of brown sugar, 1 cup of white sugar, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla beans which are optional. After making this i realized it was way thicker then i wanted it to be so i added another half fifth of everclear and some whipped cream vodka to thin it out and it was way better after that.

    Others have said that alcohol boils at a lower temp than water. That is true, that's why most people wait till it gets to room temperature, but to each their own.

    Nice recipe. FYI - You can add Everclear when it is hot, but you will be evaporating some of the alcohol. Alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature than water, even as an azeotrope. Ethanol boils (evaporates) at 172.8F, so if your mix is hotter than that, you will be evaporating alcohol.

      Don’t add alcohol when it’s hot…

      Isnt it poison if you boil the everclear

    • @jvernice
      @jvernice 2 года назад

      @@justinjustin484 No, it's not poison. Where did you hear that? IF you are making moonshine from distillation, you MUST evaporate anything below 172F since it will contain METHANOL, which is poisonous. If you already are starting with commercial ethanol, by law it cannot contain any methanol.

    My dad followed this video and made some. It's pretty good, tastes very similar to the apple pie flavored doctor mcgillicuddy's but with a little more alcohol.

  • @Some30yearold
    @Some30yearold 2 года назад

    Yes, alcohol has a lower boiling point than water and other liquids which will cause some to evaporate out if it's too hot.

    Hello Chef Dayton, with your choice of vanilla beans, is this a personal taste preference, over vanilla extract in your Apple pie kool ade? :)

      The sum is not equal to it's parts. Since alcohol is a solvent it becomes something different when it dissolves things. When you let it sit for a few days it becomes even better.

    He didn't mention that if you wait at least 72 hrs to consume the shine will taste much better. But I wonder what the proof is on this recipe...

      Proof was to low i went back and doubled the amount of everclear. I later made a much better batch with real moonshine the video is on my other account Philbilly Moonshine.

    I filtered the juice and when u put in jars it developed a “slime” after a couple min any idea?

    • @shnizzy1
      @shnizzy1  5 лет назад +1

      It was not strong enough i had to go back and add more everclear, the real test is when you freeze it.. If you it freezes in the freezer it is not strong enough and you have to add more everclear. I went back and added double the everclear. Also i used to many cinnamon sticks if you wanna use a cinnamon stick then make sure it is in a large bottle or else it kinda has a fireball flavor instead of apple pie.

      Dayton try putting the cinnamon sticks in when your cooking it then taking them out add a cup of captain morgan and put an apple slice in the jar keep it somewhere cool and dark for like 2 weeks it will be better

      anytime you add fruit...there is a 48 hour shelf life. only add fruit to what you will drink in 48 hrs and keep the alcohol stored as normal until ready to add fruit and consume
