I want to work in comics so bad but it seems to be so tough to either get noticed or to be good enough for Marvel to want your art. I won't stop trying but it gets frustrating. Thanks for this video!
How you doing bro?
How u doing? :)
Any updates? 🙏
@@EzraCyrus I still don't work for Marvel or DC but I get plenty of offers to draw comics for other companies. I turn them down at this point because I am busy teaching art online and working on my own comic. I still would like to work for them at some point but just the pursuit has led to other opportunities. Hard work always pays off, just not always in the way that we expect. Good luck to you and never give up!
Robert Marzullo That’s good man. Happy you were able to stick with your passion regardless of not working for dc or marvel. Also decided to follow your channel as your art is amazing🙏
Wolverine babysitting the mutant equivalent of Jack Jack from the Incredibles.
its so hard to get into marvel but i have realised what they need is something new
That was the best advice I have been able to find on the net. Thanks, guys.
Back in the day when I worked as a assistant with one Marvel and DC inker they brought on a new penciler for the Marvel book we worked on. A friend of another Marvel artist at the time who recommended him. The editor gave him the book based on a couple of page samples. The guy sucked and couldn't handle a monthly book. I ended up redrawing the guys pencils and doing the full inks on the book. The inker I worked with at the time couldn't be bothered with the crap work.
love the part that he say "expose your talent and be discovers......."
Bit conneeeeeeeeeeeeect
Freudian slip, much?
Rare that Marvel publishes first time comic writers.......10 years later, every minority writer is a first time comic writer.
I think its time for me to pitch my new characters to Marvel, lets see if I get lucky ?!
+Key Killer 74 Hahahahahahahaha!
Shut the fuck up bitch !
Sure! You can do it :)
Good luck
Key Killer 74 yeah I’ve been making marvel characters for the past 7 months. When I get done I will pitch them to marvel. Good luck :)
I will be working hard of creating my own marvel character. I hope they will like it
Thanks for the video Chronic, it was really helpful.
Some of the things he said I heard before but that only re-assures me.
Great video guys, I’m a comic writer and fellow RUclipsr and I found this video very helpful! Keep up the good work!!!
This is EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you for posting!
I now have a agent who reps me. Keep practicing and learning and don't limit your skills as just a penciler for example.
You still work at marvel?
Its who you know inside who'll recommend you like in any other industry.
Confirmed: CB and Alex no longer accept submissions for new writing talent
Is this still true in 2019?kinda sad ..i'm really motivated to get really better at drawing and writing in order to send him my work later
@@AntOninPortequoi same thought.
Of course they dont. They hire the same people that follow his opinions about The Brand New Day era in Spiderman comics
Is there any way I can write my own stories and comics along with them in this industry?
I do freelance Marvel character packaging art for a outside design studio. How did I get the work? I got recommended to the art director by a friend working there.
wow i was struggling in finding a good way to get in the door for marvel, this is what i need , thank you ;D
thnx man i really needed that
I have a lot of ideas for original heroes, I wonder what the guys at bigger comic companies like Marvel/DC/Dark Horse think about releasing volumes of unknown, new heroes...
As a writer, I find this advice a little frustrating
He says send your work in but they say on their website that they dont accept any unsolicited submissions. So whats the deal?
I have a ton of ideas that I have yet to find in the comics - not saying they're not there, I just havent found them - that I think would be awesome to see happen.
I think he means more send work that you've done that shows you're a published writer. If they like your work, then they'll ask you to pitch your idea. I hope that clears up the confusion.
and unfortunately thats the frustrating trick isnt it?
No one will publish you unless you have an agent, but most agents wont look twice at you
meanwhile, all an artist has to do is send their work in and chances are good that if they have talent they'll be noticed, yet they require no agent
yet people forget that without a writer, comics are just pretty sequential pictures *shakes head*
Chronicles of the Nerds I draw check my page
Rivyn Daniel Hey when they say publish they mean pro publishing or self publishing and by self I mean webcomics, physical comic, ect.
I know what they mean
but they say that wont accept any unsolicited material and that typically means that it needs to be sent to them by an Agent thats vouching for your credability.
I'm going the self publishing route though
I will be in marvel someday because what he said is what I do for living
thank you! it's so hard to get a straight answer from people that are already establish in the industry. i'll be preparing work to send out soon ;)
Thanks for the advice

Anyone know if the email he provided is still a valid email address for art submissions?
Cb is not talent scout anymore, he has same adress i guess but probably wont give a shit for your message
I am interested on being a comic writer I have 4 characters I wanna bring the world
really helpful, thank you
Well, he said if you previously were published by Image Comics? What we´re seeing lately, Marvel artists moving to Image comics, right?
I am going to send my artwork.
Great interview, good job :)
sounds like it's tougher for writers than for artists...a LOT tougher.
good interview. nice work
@BLACKMAFIA410 College can't teach you creativity but it can allow you a space to work on your stuff and introduce you to the people who you can network with who will later break into certain scenes. But with the amount of debt you are likely to get into its sort of six one half dozen for the other. If you can afford it I would do it. If not don't worry so much.
my art is ok but What Annoys me. Every time I went to school my old Teachers said your Drawings are so good I would say in my mind They are not that good in my opinion So I only draw cute cartoon stuff
thanks for the video^^
Hey is there a job where I can create a superhero and a whole story but I can't draw or I can make stories with other heroes
I wanna be a comic book writer!!
1:13 ... Lol! How 'bout Wolverine on a toilet, Wolverine in a corner office on Wall Street, Wolverine in a laundromat, Wolverine flipping burgers, Wolverine cleaning a room at a motel, Wolverine reading the slush pile at Marvel....
i really wanna be a marvel artist , but i have no money , and cant afford to get into art school....
i wanna be a writer myself, because I can't draw to save my life XD
I wanna be a writer, however i cant draw
+jmsolano0516 yeah
Saw a Kubert name listed up at DC as a editor or something. Gee, how'd she get her salary staff job with benefits? The DC talent search? Please.
wow, awesome, im gonna send some stuff
I already created a character based on bird and it came out well so, whats left is that only How to Send It to Marvel Comics in India
Bro send it to cb on his mail
ever scince i was 5 (I'm 14 now) i always wanted to become a comic writer where's gthe best college i can go to? (I'm in 9th grade)
This video is awesome. It might be the answer to all my questions!
@hotjavon o.k thanks.
Me Gusta Que Qui de Cosa no that not Rest distinct
And 9 years later.... "Why the hell would I want to work at Marvel Comics?"
Any college that will teach you literature and journalism. Literature will teach you to analyze stories break it down to its essence themes, plots, symbolism, things you will need to know to be an effective writer. Journalism will improve your grammar to Grammar nazi level and its also a good dayjob while waiting for your chance.
I wonder if it still the same
You planning too?
Vence Ardina yea I am
Does this offer still stand? it's like 2015 and I'm turning 16 in April so by 2017 I'll be legally old enough to actually draw for Marvel (If I'm good), I pray the offer will be available by then
I run a unofficial business called TC Comics. Any age from 13-59
+awesomekid120 If you watched the entire video all you have to do is have a portfolio and a good resume to get into marvel just like any other job out there. If you're 18 I don't think it'll work, unless you already have some publish art and did some webcomics in the past few years to show your progress. A teenage marvel artist is pretty unheard of my man.
Ah, okay. So I just have to get my name out there?...shouldn't be too hard then
I mean my art now is maybe on par with Humberto Ramos, with a few more years of experience I should be fine right??
+awesomekid120 Uhhh Ramos? For real? Sorry if I'm doubtful on you saying that. You need years of experience and working in other companies to be considered for Marvel my friend. Like Art College. Getting your out there isn't hard, but being considered by Marvel is harder than you think. It's not like everyone can do it.
Take your work seriously and understand it will take longer than you realize to get where you want to be.
Saying you can become a marvel artist right when you'e 18 is like saying you can make it to the NFL out of high school. It's not realistic bud.
Wolverine in Iraq
This is very helpful.
Wolverine in the apocalypse
old man logan.
been done. old man logan.
It's total BS(as in unfair, not lies) that the chances of new talent getting a gig w/DC or Marvel nowadays is close to impossible. For one, I venture to say a lot of current writers@ the Big Two don't give a fig for the traditions/history of the characters - hence why they gleefully go along w/whatever BS retcons to canon that editorial comes up with. Meanwhile there are fledgling/undiscovered writers out there(such as moi😏) who've grown up w/these universes & the characters/canon etc. that populates them. Don't they/we deserve a chance? We can't all get their attention by first writing a New York Times-bestselling YA novel series, nor should we have to.
What sucks most of all is that legally, you're not allowed to submit them unsolicited story samples/pitches featuring THEIR OWN I.P. - now in what other line of work would that make sense, exactly? As much as I am loyal to the Big Two(I've never been an indie guy, one or two exceptions aside), someone should have the balls to take them to court and force them to rescind the aforementioned clause, because it's a literal crock of sh1t IMHO.
definately no no especially to marve is hot big booty type comic characters, this generation we dont need that, all that r18 stuff. :P otherwise Brian is such a amazing marvel comic artist and writer
@BLACKMAFIA410 I don't think college can help, college can't teach creativity. Just get all your grammar stuff down.
The best way to get into comics these days, whether it's Marvel or DC, is be anything but "white" or "Asian," be trans, homosexual, hardcore far left Marxist feminist. Being a woman will also score you huge brownie points, especially if you are even a tiny bit on the cute looking side. Go to a convention where you know big Marvel and/or DC wigs are, and spout off about how much you despise straight, white, heterosexual, right wing, nazi, bigoted men and how much you hate Christians and the United States of America. Use lots and lots and lots of words and phrases like "white privilege," "problematic," "systematic oppression," "Communism," "Socialism," "Hilary Clinton," "Hetero-normality," "Sexist," "Chauvinistic," and "Bernie Sanders." If the professional doesn't respond to your conversation about any of these things, simply start crying as hard as you possibly can. Rip and tear at your own face until there is blood. Drop to your knees, spread out your arms, and as loudly as you can possibly muster (don't worry if it hurts or permanently ruins your voice) scream about how much you hate Donald Trump. Unless the comic book pro is Ethan Van Sciver, I promise you that the pro will immediately run to your side, embrace you while crying as well, and offer you the best job possible. It won't matter if you can't stand comic book super heroes and have never read, written, or given two shits about comics in your entire life...doing or being any of the above is guaranteed to get you a job. You might not get the absolute best top selling titles, but give it a month or two and you will soon land books like Spider-man, Black Panther, Captain America (if you spouted off about hating the United States, you probably won't have to wait...they'll put you on Captain America almost immediately), Avengers, and Thor. The best folks to do all this in front of are Dan Slott, Tom Breevoort, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Joe Quesada, and Kurt Busiek. No matter how much or how little talent you have, the bigger the far leftist victim you can make yourself, the more likely you will be to get a job.
you're an idiot
Why not just pretend to be Asian if you're white... Just Like C.B. Cebulski did !!!!
Y’all really hate inclusivity
@@eternateen4eva323 C.B. Cebulski pretended to be an Asian man for years and lied about it until he couldn't lie about it anymore. Look up " Akira Yoshida ".
And just look at him. The guy looks like a freak.
If you want to work at Marvel Comics, all you need to do is create a fake identity and pretend to be Japanese and lie about it for years. You could be Editor in Chief one day.
You could also claim to be trans.
