Trudvang Chronicles #1: Character Creation

- This is my first video about Trudvang Chronicles, a great RPG that just recently got translated into English in 2017. I made this video to show people how to make characters in the game. Below are some links to some resources that I find very useful while making characters. The files are in Facebook groups, so you will have to join them first to access the files. I'll work on getting a Google Docs folder or something up, but Google has made the files unusable in the past, so I might need another solution.
I MADE AN ERROR: The tablet specialties for Vitner Weavers get written on the back (i.e. second page) of your character sheet. You purchase them just like any other specialty, not at the same time as the method of weaving.
I forgot to mention in the video that you also get the first level of the Geography Discipline for free, and the first level of the Land Knowledge Specialty for free, specified for the region you are from, Mittland, Westmark, etc. These are under the Wilderness skill.
P.S. I say "doobly-doo" as an homage to Matthew Colville, who is amazing and everyone should check out his stuff. He's the bomb.

I'm glad you like it! The system can take some getting used to, but the feeling of play is very distinct. There is a lot of inspiration in the pdfs on the RiotMinds site and in the facebook groups!

Thanks, but still confused by the Tablet part. The book text seems to be saying it needs to be brought like other specialities, but the tree graphic does not show tablets. Words like 'learn. I cant see anywhere a connection between method level and just getting that number of tablets.

You're right, I did make an error there and put a better explanation in the video description. I just haven't had time to update the video yet. The skill tree really isn't that helpful, but the weavers of vitner and dimwalker guide sections are much more helpful. You do purchase levels of tablets like you would any other specialty, with the same SV requirements

Thanks for making this! For Vitner Craft, would the cost be 54 + 20 x (7-4) = 114 rather than 142 ?
I looked at your Google Drive spreadsheet, and I think I found an error in your cost calculations. For example, cell BA9 =(AI9/2*(AI9+1))*7-(V27*AI9). For a level A19 of 3, the Intelligence discount V27 of 4 should be applied 6 times. (1+2+3) x -4 ... I think it should be BA9 = (A19/2*(A19+1))*(7-V27) ... thus you overcharged by 4 pts for Hwitala of 2, and by 12 pts each for Sejding and Vyrding of 3. That will give you 28 pts to spend on tablets ... or math ;)
No problem! That's a good question! Since the INT stat only affects the cost of each level of discipline and specialty instead of each 7 points, it's provides a smaller ratio of a discount on the more expensive levels. Level 1 of a discipline or specialty costs 3 instead of 7 in this scenario, and level 2 costs 10 instead of 14, and level 3 costs 17 instead of 21. In this case from level 0 to 3 it would cost a total of 30. So your formula looks like this: 54 + (8 x [7 - 4]) + (3 x [14 - 4]) + (2 x [21 - 4]) = 142

Good job, I'm really excited to start a game, you should do a video going through a combat scenario, I've had difficulty understanding combat, doing attacks, invoking the Gods, weaving Vitner etc.
John Timpson that's a good idea! I've GMed about a dozen sessions now, all involving combat, so we've pretty much got it down now. I'll try to post something soon

Anyone do it online or Roll20? I can’t find anyone that even knows about this game.
Does anyone play Trudvang on Roll20 or something similar? I want to play this game so bad and unfortunately can’t find anyone who wants to. And I have tried pretty hard.
There are a couple active Facebook groups for Trudvang, and I believe I've heard of people playing on Roll20 or using Discord etc. The Facebook groups would be the best place to start looking!

Hey, man! Awesome work! Helped a lot, I really fell in love with Trudvang and am about to take it for a spin. Would it be possible to upload the Excel & Cheat sheet on Google drive or some place other then facebook for those who don't use it?
