I'm a 1,000 years old and been playing bass for around 900 years, and seen 100's of videos. Hands down, this was one of the best videos I've ever seen! I Tip My Hat
The 80s Japanese Fender P's are superb workhorse instruments. Have had one as my go to for 20 years and it's never missed a beat and just sits in the mix beautifully! PS - that's called a Hootenanny button on the rear of the headstock.
I thought you looked familiar🤣 I met you at fins when you played the nirvana and foo fighters covers. I’m the short guy with the septum ring and black cap. Great night and great music man, it was nice meeting you 😁
I had that pawn shop awhile ago. It was a super nice bass I mod mine for series parallel so you get thick muddy sound on the series and more p bass In parallel. Sick bass definitely something different for sure. I think he picked a winner tho.
“We have bought this piece of sh..” 😂 I’m not a jazz guy (they sound amazing, they just don’t sit on my body well) nor do I go for signatures, but that Mikey Way bass was the winner for me just for the fact that you both seemed so geeked about it. That’s the factor I need when buying a bass. That P is sweet though! Loved this video.
Really!?!? So sik man!!!! Congrats! I gotta find them online and check their inventory I seen some stingray headstocks and possibly some LaklAnd headstocks too in the video
Most were too zingy for me with your sound processing but I like the P bass choice for me on sound despite the glossy neck back and boring tb finish! Great vid showing bass players what goes through your mind when choosing to spend - not a J bass guy really I suppose but to contradict that I do like PJs usually. Thanks for the time and effort put into this vid, and it gives ideas for people for things to consider when buying a bass - the best type of guitar for sure, for me.
@@JonnyDibble I -just- got the paranormal rascal, and the pickups are top tier. Squier stepped up in a big way. The way that mustang sounds is similar. Something about the humbuckers on a short scale is magic.
Love my Nate Mendel bass, sounds fantastic and perfect for the rock covers band I’m in. Had the Flea bass, wasn’t a fan so traded it for a backup p bass 🤟
I noticed he didn't play any of them without going through some form of overdrive. You can't tell what a bass sounds like unless you play it clean at least for a short time. He may as well have whacked it through a chorus pedal on full wibbley wobbley.
"Thank you so much for watching" ha ha ha!!!! 😂😂😂😂 That really tickled me!!! Ps. Didn't really like how any sounded. All too bright but the Mendel if I had to pick. Great vid!
That’s probably my tone that I use for gigs, I’ve actually since backed the treble off a tiny bit. Don’t forgot you hearing this solo’d not in the context of a band!

Blimey! I thank thee 🤩
That Mustang !!!❤❤❤❤
So SO cool
When bass shopping if you go into a store and know your basses you usually know and have in your head what you want right away, great pick!!
The strap nut was at the head stock back in the 1950s and that bass was a replica of a 57 or 58 as that was the how they were made.
My favourite place BassBros❤ The best place to buy a bass in my opinion 🙌🙌 What a beauty Of a P bass Chris chose 😍
@@darranjsamuel3063 I was there again yesterday. What a place!

So nice! I’ve got a 1997 MIJ and it’s great
Great video - hope you enjoy your new bass!
I’ll pass it on! Thanks very much
I will go to any wedding in which the band's bass player is rocking a Mickey Way bass.

That’s a sick mod!!
1:56 we love a long horn joke
Longest horn in the game
I VERY nearly walked away with that Mikey Way 🥵
Oh it is an awesome bass!

It was EXCELLENT. Thank-you!
I found that I liked the first P-Bass, but I was more drawn to the Mustang Bass (even though it was muddy).
My two favs too 🔥
I went to Bass Bros today. I left with a Zon.
Congrats!!!

Flea Signature was the best sounding Jazz imho.
Was the worst sounding in the room! Definitely liked it more here

Much to consider when buying a new bass! Thanks v much 😊
I was sure the wildcard mustang had it.
I would’ve bought that one if I was after a short scale!

@@Gorcyca dude, I so wish I got to keep the one I reviewed. That bridge pickup is SO GOOD
I can’t say enough good things. Squier killed it.

Tone is dialled to Chris’ patches and what he uses so he can compare them for himself. We’re just along for the ride 😊
Is that me arriving at the shop in the early part of the film :)))) sorry about that :)))
Haha there he is!!
@@JonnyDibble a pleasure to see the manic happen ;)))
Surprisingly Chris has the same way of slapping as Jonny :)
Badly?
@@JonnyDibble . Badly? Of course not because it sounds good, but oddly the same way you both are doing it
:)
The back strap thingy was in the 50's you'd put a strap or a rope in that place and the back
Yes! Horrible!
Really like In The Pocket. Really like Chris. Really hate that moustache.
😂 Thank-you (mostly)
I gathered this guy was in his mid 40’s 😂😂 caught me off guard when he said he was born in 94!
Really?
@@JonnyDibble I’m not quite sure what it is! He just looks a lot older than yourself 🤔😂
Have a like just for the international rescue hat 😂
My pride and joy
Its weird jon Yankovic....😅😂🤣
That Japanese baccy Burst P bass looks like mine, a part from my bridge is one of those fender hi-mass ones🤘
😂😂 Awesome!
The economy decided I have too many basses.
Hopefully it will change it's mind in the near future as instrument manufacturers have bills to pay.
Im gonna be THAT guy and say I have preferred In The Pocket (on average) when its just you and Chris.
That’s because the sexual tension is at its highest
I jest, thank-you SO much for tuning it!
"Thank you so much for watching" ha ha ha!!!! 😂😂😂😂 That really tickled me!!!

damn that slap technique needs some work..
Not sure about his playing ... feels souless n sloppy timing sorry
Compared to Pete Wentz... He's bloody Jaco Pastorius.
