I started to use the Percept 100 about 2 weeks ago. I have used an Ezone 98 for the last 2 years so it was always going to take a lot for me to consider a switch to a new frame, but just felt I could do with a little more control as sometimes the power / my technique would send it long with the Ezone. Apart from that I have loved the Ezone 98 and had no complaints at all with it. After only about 10 hours of play I decided to use the Percept in my next match, having my Ezone in the bag in case I had made a terrible mistake! Just to note this is first ever 100 inch frame so was slightly worried that I was making a backwards step. The Percept was amazing though and not once was I tempted to take the Ezone out of the bag. I certainly felt I had more control; my serves were more accurate. I hit more aces than I have ever hit in a match, just through placement rather than power / speed. I felt I could hit the angles with confidence and although I still sent a couple long (as we all do) as long as I got the top spin right the majority of deep shots fell in the court and I would say my error rate was a good 50% better for deep shots. I still think the Ezone has more power overall, but the Percept 100 frame is not lacking in power, and I had it strung at 50lbs to give me any power I was missing from the 98 inch frame. Also it’s a 16 / 19 pattern so I didn’t feel as if I lost any spin as top spin is a big part of my game. Still early days, but at the moment I cant see me moving back to the Ezone, so feels like my first major change in racket since the Ezone was released two years ago!!!
Hey man! Do you still using Percept 100? I’m starting on tenis and have tried 8 rackets. Ezone 100 was the best for me with a big difference over the others until I tried the Percept 100. It’s just perfect for me: powerful, easy to use, easy 2H backhands, super easy to place the ball where I want. It’s just the best for me 😊
@@marcos5349 yes still using the Percept 100 as I enjoy the extra control over the Ezone. Have also been using the Clash 98 V2 for a period as I picked up a shoulder injury. I found the Ezone 100 a little too powerful for my game, however I still have the frame so maybe one day I will go back to it and try to tame it again!!
Great video! As a side note: I have been following your channel for awhile and I am impressed with how much you’ve improved both your forehand as well as the backhand! Great spacing right in front, great follow through as well! I know my comment isn’t exactly Yonex review related but I am genuinely impressed with your progression from a year ago… 😉😉😉😜😜😜
Quick question: can you give a comparison to Percept 100D and Wilson Blade 100 v8 please? I want to move away from Pure Drive due to lack of control. 🙏🏻 Thanks
At least, i have pure drive and blade 100 v8 Honestly the stiffness of puredrive is only the downside thing of it, But when i played with blade 100 v8, I found it hard to play with it cause it is not spin friendly plus the balance of it makes its heavier somehow, pure drive was really better to control cause I shot with avery topspin and its very stable as well, blade v8 also is stable at the net, but bad from baseline!
I play with a puredrive too. I only playtested the Percept 100, performance wise both the Percept 100 and the blade 100 stand in the same category. I enjoyed the feel and ball pocketing of the blade a bit more. Also backhand slices felt great with the blade compared to the yonex. Main issue with the blade 100 for me : poor access to topspin. On the other hand the Percept 100 allows you to play both topspin and flat naturally. It reminded me a lot of the graphene 360 speed MP, only more comfy. My experience with the Pure Drive : an overspec PD can turn out to be sluggish and overpowered. I got an slightly underspec one, and with a shaped poly around 22/23kg I gotta say it is ultra consistent on depth control. It doesn't give you as much feed back, so you got the work harder for directional control and slices but it's a reliable racket.
Did you manage to find a perfect set up for this racquet? I tested a demo racquet and loved it a lot up to a point where i bought my own racquet with similar specs. The demo racquet had Poly Tour Rev, was initially strung with 25kg but i dont think it was 25kg when i got the chance to test. It was very soft, very powerful and consistent, i assume 20-22kg maybe. So i used the similar Poly Tour Rev but Mint and 22kg tension. The thing is it does not play like the demo one at all. I really dont like it, it feels unstable and my shots are very “thin” - they lack depth and spin… i really cant figure out why because tech specs are almost the same compared to the demo racquet.
I don’t think it needs perfect setup as all the setups I played with so far works very well. Polytour pro, polytour fire, tour bite soft, Zero, Zero Wasabi hybrid. Maybe try the same tour rev like your demo racket. Different color can play a bit differently.
LOL my list is very similar! Currently playing: Blade 98 v8 18x20 List of potential switch: 1. HEAD Prestige MP 18x19 2. Yonex Percept 100D 18x19 3. Tecnifibre T-Fight 305 Isoflex 18x19 4. Solinco Whiteout 305 18x20 5. HEAD Gravity Tour 18x20
Great content, as always! I’m not quite convinced the line-up needs both these rackets, but perhaps you can persuade me… Could a 100 not be made to play like the 100D just by using a thicker gauge string? (And vice versa?)
I'm not sure but it could be. Imagine if I use 1.20 gauge on 100D (which I plan to do with tour bite soft 1.20). I think it will be more of an all court racket, spinnier and faster. So, the other way around should work, I guess.
Great review! In terms of stability and predictability how would you compare it to the ezone 100 and the Head Speed MP? Im between these two for my racquet of choice
I think Percept is more predictable, both 100 and 100D. They’re also lower power and control oriented. Stability I don’t think there’s a much differences tho, like I don’t feel like any of them have stability issues.
From my exp percept 97 can came with swingweight lower than specs , when i tested it was 313 and playing with i was 0-4 very litle plow and pop, in first set then i decide to put lead about 4 grams ar 3 and 9 , after i won 6-4,6-0.
Great review, thanks. I've tried the 100 during three sessions. It feels super light in hand, almost like I'm playing with an underpowered 280g racket. Missed some inertia and plow through, especially on my 2Hbackhand. Has anyone tried to beef it up a bit ? Is it a good platform racket or does customization ruins it completly? I come from a pure drive, and the main issue I have with those 100inch "semi-control" rackets (blade 100, Percept 100, pre auxetic speed MP, and I also include Tfight iso 300) is that they make you work harder from the baseline, like a proper control racket, but at the same time you need to be careful not to overhit with it, as they all are a bit launchy.
Nice review as always. Why did you select the 100D over the 97/97D to include in your favorites? Was it due to its maneuverability, spin potential, or power?
97D is 320g so it’s off limits. 97 doesn’t plow through and it’s quite stiff. 100D is more maneuverable and forgiving and it offers pretty much the same (if any less) control.
Percept is more plush and has better control. Very predictable response. Speed MP has more free power but stringbed sometimes erratic. The ball sails more on the Speed than on the Percept. On the spin I think Speed has more edge, not by far tho.

Solinco tour bite soft
how does the 100 compare to blade 100?
More headlight and whippy, higher launch angle and a lot better spin.
I own a 100 and love it but I just ordered a 100D to see the difference….
Have you noticed any difference?
@@alng16 yes there is a huge difference with launch angle and top spin. The 100D is much better to return with and if I’m playing really well and aggressively it works well for me but overall I prefer the 100 for the extra spin and power…
@@thatwhit1currently hitting with the Percept 100 and like it with Polytour pro at 50. Already start to think if I should order another 100 or try a new 100D.
The main problem with the Percept is the weird disconnected feel
I think it feels pretty good. Not muted at all. What string you uses?
They should have made the standard 100 305g as well. 300g is too light for a racquet with that beam width.
That's where customization comes in my bro! That's the beauty of frames with such light "platform" weights -- plenty of room to slap on handle and hoop weight and get recoil and swing weights exactly up to where you want 'em! Lock 'n load!
Yeah but 99% won't or don't know how to do that. Silly by yonex in the first place.
