A long-running armed conflict has displaced millions of people in Colombia and climate-related crises continue to impact families.
Thanks to funds from our emergency response initiative Every Second Counts, and commitment from our partners and the communities, CAFOD conducted workshops to prepare for and protect against emergencies before they happen.
The Diocese of Quibdó is located in the Chocó Department, where 6 out of 10 inhabitants face extreme poverty. These workshops have provided communities in Colombia with information on how to access funding available to them and established processes to ensure that when a disaster strikes they are prepared for whatever comes.
CAFOD staff provided training on how to access funding from the START Network which provides rapid response funding to under-the-radar, small to medium-scale crises.
Thank you for ensuring that during an emergency Every Second Counts.

CAFOD stands for the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development. We are an international development charity and the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.
We stand beside people living in poverty - whatever their religion or culture. Through local Church partners, we help people directly in their own communities, and campaign for global justice, so that everyone can reach their full potential.
CAFOD works in communities across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
