@@tee8839 ..thats easy to say from an outside view...These young girls were on a rickety bridge & we don't know if he had a weapon on them.They did the smartest thing possible in a situation where you think your going to abducted or even killed...get as much evidence as possible in hopes it leads to the capture of the assailant.

Richard Allen 50yr old from Delphi, worked at CVS, lived only 2 miles from the bridge. Also side note, which is pretty disgusting but Libby actually looks like his daughter and there’s a pic of her that he took of her posing on that exact bridge after the murders. It’s Really, really sick stuff man. I am glad they have FINALLY caught him, always believed they would just how long it would take was the question. Very curious to see how they finally got him, was there DNA evidence, was there some kind of geolocation they weee able to track him w… maybe his cell phone was pinged in the area… dunno but very curious to see how this was solved. Justice is finally being served and I hope after the trial these families can get some kind of peace and closure knowing this monster will never hurt anyone again. Justice for the girls is all that matters.
My thing is supposedly he's married. The girls took a picture of the guy. That picture has been widely circulated on tv and the internet and was probably used in printed fliers circulated throughout that community. That's a kinda distinct hat that he's wearing. You tell me for 5 years his wife never recognized that outfit he's wearing in the picture/video or recognized him?
I was 13 when this all happened, same age as one of the girls. I’m 19 now, I’m in college. Everytime I hear about this case again I think of all the things these girls missed out on that are normal rites of passage for most teenagers. And as I grow, I will experience more things these girls will never get to. RIP Libby and Abby and I hope they finally caught this monster so at least their families can have some closure.
It’s beyond sad to think of that time they didn’t get to grow up, I will never be able to comprehend why or how someone could look to take the lives of two young kids, it’s beyond evil there is no word for it just hope this man arrested gets the full weight of justice brought to him
Then don't let their story be in vain. Use that memory to do things in their name, or things you think they would have enjoyed simply speak their names. It keeps them alive in a way, and maybe, just maybe they can see those beautiful moments through your eyes.
The fact that Libby had the wherewithal to capture this evidence is extremely remarkable. Just thinking about it would have still been, but actually succeeding. Incredible. How many adults weren’t able to accomplish that task? If he’s guilty I hope he is tormented to eternity. May the families and friends find some measure of peace!
Its phenomenal. Its also how you should train your kids....from the beginning. I believe she went back for her friend , wouldn't leave her behind.. and while heartbreaking, I think it speaks volumes about her character and their bond as friends. I'm 25 and grew up in Indiana about 2 hours from them. I spent a lot of my youth running around in similar woods alone or with just one or two friends. This whole case is just so tragic. Poor babies.

Yep. I still have family in Cass, Carroll and White counties. Granted it was the 1970's, but played dozens of times in this exact same area. It was not exactly the same as it is now. It has been improved to a more park and trail resource for the community. Just like they have improved the canals from the 1800's. It is hard to understand why evil reared it's head that day. I'm trusting in a just and proper conclusion and conviction beyond any reasonable doubt.
What fantastic news. This is the one unsolved case that has haunted me, and I'm sure everyone else. The "down the hill" audio is absolutely chilling, and impossible to get out of your head once you've heard it. I'm so glad that the families are finally going to get justice...good on LE for being so tenacious in their investigation.
So true, I was a child in the 70's and a teen in the 80's, we played outside and in a wooded area close by until sunset, never once were we harassed. As a teen we walked everywhere which included going to the movies at night, now like a hawk I keep my eye on any little one in my care, they need to be close to me or in my sight all the time. I am even careful when it comes to play dates, it's just such a sad way of living, children do not know the freedom we had.

Justice means someone was treated fairly and given a proper punishment in court the guy hasn't even been tried yet. What Justice was served? What was his punishment what evidence did they present?

Those girls were so brave for trying to record him and get as much evidence as they could while I know they were scared, I’m so happy the police never gave up on this
I read somewhere that his neighbor accused him of theft and cops found trophies from the murders while digging in his property. Again, can’t confirm this, it’s just something I read online. I’m so anxious to learn what exactly happened as I’ve been so perplexed it’s taken years to solve. Been following for years but was shocked and so relieved to hear some good news today that the case is progressing towards justice💔
Abby was almost my sister at one point. My Dad had really liked her mom and I was sure I was gonna have Abby as a new sister. I remember when I was thirteen, my dad sat me down in the living room and told me about what happened to them. I don’t think I had ever cried so much. I still miss her a lot and wish things had gone differently for those two.

Abby and Libbey deserve the biggest chunk of the credit for catching this POS. How many of us would have the courage and presence of mind to record our soon to be murderer, they were thinking of others in their darkest hour , they knew they had to stop him from doing this to someone else. No, we've not been informed of the convincing proof of guilt that led to a confident arrest, But I'm betting Monday's press conference will fill in the gaps.
This reminds me of a case here in England. Two ten year old girls, Holly and Jessica went missing and were found murdered. The killer was ‘hiding in plain sight’. He was actually helping police and searchers. And he was interviewed on TV. He was the school caretaker, Ian Huntley. Thank goodness the police have arrested someone for the Delphi murders at last. Those two little girls had a horrendous end by all accounts. May they rest in eternal peace. 🌹🌹
I live in Texas and have been trying to keep up with this since the beginning, I feel like I received an early Christmas blessing knowing they have a suspect in custody. I’ve prayed for an arrest, and for their families . I look at my girls and their brother and am blessed I didn’t have to live the horror these families went through when they were younger. It won’t stop the feeling of loss, but it gives a end in sight for justice so long deserved.

I've heard about this case a while back, it was insanely heartbreaking to find out it had not yet been solved. It's relieving Libby's attempts to document this monster may not have been in vain. I hope justice shall be served.

I don’t have words to accurately express how happy I am that they’ve made an arrest. I just hope the people of Delphi know that they’re in the thoughts and prayers of people everywhere. 🙏🙏

It's so disgusting and disturbing that he took a picture of his daughter posing on the bridge after he killed those two girls. He had the nerve to go back there after what he had done and I'm pretty sure his family has talked about it because everyone now knows that bridge and what happened to Abby & Libby.
It's common for murderers/predators to return to the scene of the crime but I've never heard that they brought a family member back to the scene. Disgusting regardless. Peace to the families and thank you law enforcement!

It's insane how time flies by fast. It seems like only last year this happened, but it didn't. I was 17 at that time and I'm almost 23. Amazing job for the police to finally capture that man.

This case always baffled me, I couldn’t believe the guy could be living nearby bc someone would have identified him. Thought it must have been someone just driving through. Seems he actually lived & lives in the area. Again, baffling he went unidentified for such a long time
I remember reading about the Adelphi murders. It really took a hold of me. It sounded like a horror movie. Seeing the image of the killer on the track and hearing his voice. Knowing what his intent was at that moment and the horror those two girls must have endured. I really hope this is the right person and that the family and the Adelphi community get justice.
I always thought it was actually the dad. Once I saw him on the Dr. Phil show I seen he had the same look. And he was the last one to see them if he was to pick them up. But were supposed to believe LE.

I'm in Ohio and I know that Allen worked for CVS in Delphi. He and his wife have a beautiful daughter, who is grown. I cannot imagine what this child (she is still a kid to me) must think. I feel bad for his family, who probably are in shock.
If the wife didn't know...she didn't want to know. It's a pitiful individual that doesn't realize a photo of their spouse, clothing wore on a regular basis and physical make-up. Perhaps, she more concerned about what individuals might think versus doing the right thing...turning in her spouse. Don't be surprised if there's more to this story and his behavior at home with his family.
So sad that I’m 25 now and kind of prayed this would get solved but forgot about it unfortunately….. good on her for recording, it’s probably the smartest thing she could’ve done to solve her own murder…rest in peace to the deceased🙏🏻

@@reckondragon2130 I know that's why I said most of them. Listen buddy I know from experience some of the evil shit cops do. I also know my nephew was arrested the other day for speeding, weed, and having a hand gun when he's only 19. The cops actually called me and his other uncle to pick up his car instead of impounding it. The cop also only charged him for marijuana possession and dropped the rest.
Although exciting to hear progress on the case, it’s only an arrest so far so I wouldn’t get too hopeful. I really do hope this is the guy though… guess we’ll have to wait and see if everything adds up
I heard about this case through a true crime channel here on youtube a few years back and it has stuck with me ever since. I am so so glad to hear that an arrest has been made and I will defiantly be keeping up with the news in the next few months. Hoping that justice will come to sweet Abby and Libby.

This didn't just hit Delphi, it hit the entire state! My entire family is spread throughout the state and we all texted each other when this news broke. All grateful there was some update. It was always brought up during gatherings that it hadn't been solved and how sad that must be for the families. There were signs hanging up in gas stations asking for information on Purdue's campus. The entire state mourned for these two little girls. So glad to see that some justice might finally be coming for them.
I live in Pa and was discussed here thru the years. Mr.Ballen did a story on it, 2 years ago. It kept us thinking about it. We did not forget those baby girls

I was born and raised in Lafayette. My father was from Delphi. I enlisted in the Navy in 1964 after graduating from Jefferson H.S. The Navy sent me to NavalAir Station Memphis TN. I met the lady that would become my wife there. We recently celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary. I’ve been a Tennessee resident since 1977. I still have family in Lafayette and been following this case since it happened. It was a shock that such a thing would happen in Delphi. Rejoicing that they finally got the guy. Sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of those two girls. I have a daughter so I shutter to think about what those families have gone through. I hope this arrest brings them some level of peace. I trust justice will be served and the evidence confirms they got the right guy.
When I heard his name I knew Richard Allen sounded familiar, then I realized why. Polly Klass's killer was named Richard Allen Davis. That's why it rang a bell.
Finally. Dear GOD, the horror these girls went through along with their families. My prayers and heartfelt thanks for law enforcement and all those who shared anything and never gave up this case. It is so tragic. I can not fathom the anguish of not knowing. These people do not deserve to walk this earth. If he is found guilty, may justice prevail and my prayers are that he gets the harshest sentence possible.
I haven't heard that name ever. Ughh I'm so glad this is going to be over and solved. I've followed everything along the way. They need justice. The girls did so much to help them. I wanted just for this so bad. I believe this man has done this before.
Doug Carter was so invested in this case, his emotion in that clip was heartbreaking. I hope the families of the girls get the justice they deserve, and I hope Doug and his team get the justice they've worked for and devoted the last 5½years to. There's been a lot of negativity towards LE recently, and justifiably! But Doug is one of the good guys, he has heart, and deserves every ounce of respect imaginable.

I hope they have solved this heartbreaking case. I can't fathom how, if this is the guy, he was able to stay in that small community among the residents for so long. The details of his story from between the time of their murders up until now will be quite interesting. I live in another city about 40 minutes away and from time to time I drive on the highway past Delphi. About a year ago I decided to drive down the road that would lead to an entrance path into that wooden area. I sat there awhile just thinking about the two girls. Although I was unable to actually see deep enough into the woods to see the High Bridge, just being in that location and knowing it was right down that path was such an eerie feeling. I can't begin to imagine the fear those two young girls were going through when their killer approached them and ordered them "down the hill". The presence of mind to use the phone to record what they could was so courageous and so very smart. Prayers that they have found the guy and the girls, their families and the community will finally have the justice they have been waiting for.

I find it ironic that a law suit is recently filed against the sheriff and quickly after there's an arrest. The deputy behind the lawsuit stated he doesn't like the way the Delphi murders case was being handled.
@@CSAccetura personally I would like him to wind up in a cell for a couple years with a very large man who has a preference for his smaller cellmate and after a couple of years of being assaulted daily the electric chair. That's probably the more acceptable scenario I've come up with. Ultimately I think leaving him in a room with the girls families and an assortment of knives would be best. Oh and can't forget the adrenaline epipens don't want him passing out during the carving.
Thank god, I’ve been following this case since it happened and it’s never gotten away from me. Those two girls looked so innocent, literally EVERY PICTURE of them shown just screamed “genuine and innocent” to me and it just tore me up every time I’d hear about this. Please god, let this be the one who did it, and let him get the maximum sentence he can get for what he did.
I didn't remember the girls specifically But they passing impacted me enough i never forgot that Picture of the suspect from the Victims phone , It reeked of Real evil who didn't want to get caught which is why I remember \ wanted to see him arrested more then other killers💯

I live 15 mins from Delphi, and it’s crazy how the community came together for them. In Delphi and the surrounding counties, people still have orange porch lights and still dye their hair purple in honor of them. It’s amazing to see.
Thank goodness they got the guy. I have periodically checked on this case to see if anyone was caught. I felt so bad for those two girls. Today I rejoice that the police and others who worked this case for years and did such hard work finally got the guy and thank them for doing so. While those two girls can never be brought back at least they may see justice for what was done to them. And their families can find closure and peace.
Richard Allen was interviewed and stated that he never seen those two girls. Now, I know the officials are kicking themselves in the butt. His girlfriend even stated that he has a blue jacket similar to that in the recordings. But, no one took her seriously. Good for those two girls for solving their own murder. Even if it took over 6 yrs. 😢

A small part of me really thought this would be a cold case with this small bit of evidence that we'd either never figure out or only get answers too after the perpetrator died. But now here we are, with ANSWERS! I believe this was Abby and Libby working from wherever they may be in order to put their killer behind bars. Stuff is crazy.
I've heard this case several times across different true crime channels, and ever since I first heard this killer's voice it stuck with me for some reason Something in me got so angry beyond words, and I wished so badly he would be caught. I wouldn't be surprised if he admits to other murders.

@@OWlsfordshire I don’t think so, I don’t know how it is in the US but usually you cannot charge an individual for the same crimes twice, so you need enough evidence if you charge someone, second, you still have the justice system, there you can’t really forcefully close a case.

I remember seeing the video all over the internet, usually on one one of those true crime unsolved mysteries lists. A lot of those mysteries have yet to be solved, but it's so good to know that at least one of them (hopefully) has closure, finally. Richard Allen 50yr old from Delphi, worked at CVS, lived only 2 miles from the bridge. Also side note, which is pretty disgusting but Libby actually looks like his daughter and there’s a pic of her that he took of her posing on that exact bridge after the murders. It’s Really, really sick stuff man. I am glad they have FINALLY caught him, always believed they would just how long it would take was the question. Very curious to see how they finally got him, was there DNA evidence, was there some kind of geolocation they weee able to track him w… maybe his cell phone was pinged in the area… dunno but very curious to see how this was solved. Justice is finally being served and I hope after the trial these families can get some kind of peace and closure knowing this monster will never hurt anyone again. Justice for the girls is all that matters.

My thing is supposedly he's married. The girls took a picture of the guy. That picture has been widely circulated on tv and the internet and was probably used in printed fliers circulated throughout that community. That's a kinda distinct hat that he's wearing. You tell me for 5 years his wife never recognized that outfit he's wearing in the picture/video or recognized him?

I was 13 when this all happened, same age as one of the girls. I’m 19 now, I’m in college. Everytime I hear about this case again I think of all the things these girls missed out on that are normal rites of passage for most teenagers. And as I grow, I will experience more things these girls will never get to. RIP Libby and Abby and I hope they finally caught this monster so at least their families can have some closure.

I'm 25 and grew up in Indiana about 2 hours from them. I spent a lot of my youth running around in similar woods alone or with just one or two friends. This whole case is just so tragic. Poor babies.

Yep. I still have family in Cass, Carroll and White counties. Granted it was the 1970's, but played dozens of times in this exact same area. It was not exactly the same as it is now. It has been improved to a more park and trail resource for the community. Just like they have improved the canals from the 1800's. It is hard to understand why evil reared it's head that day. I'm trusting in a just and proper conclusion and conviction beyond any reasonable doubt.
What fantastic news. This is the one unsolved case that has haunted me, and I'm sure everyone else. The "down the hill" audio is absolutely chilling, and impossible to get out of your head once you've heard it. I'm so glad that the families are finally going to get justice...good on LE for being so tenacious in their investigation.

So true, I was a child in the 70's and a teen in the 80's, we played outside and in a wooded area close by until sunset, never once were we harassed. As a teen we walked everywhere which included going to the movies at night, now like a hawk I keep my eye on any little one in my care, they need to be close to me or in my sight all the time. I am even careful when it comes to play dates, it's just such a sad way of living, children do not know the freedom we had.

I read somewhere that his neighbor accused him of theft and cops found trophies from the murders while digging in his property. Again, can’t confirm this, it’s just something I read online. I’m so anxious to learn what exactly happened as I’ve been so perplexed it’s taken years to solve. Been following for years but was shocked and so relieved to hear some good news today that the case is progressing towards justice💔

I remember when I was thirteen, my dad sat me down in the living room and told me about what happened to them. I don’t think I had ever cried so much. This reminds me of a case here in England. Two ten year old girls, Holly and Jessica went missing and were found murdered. The killer was ‘hiding in plain sight’. He was actually helping police and searchers. And he was interviewed on TV. He was the school caretaker, Ian Huntley.
Thank goodness the police have arrested someone for the Delphi murders at last. Those two little girls had a horrendous end by all accounts. May they rest in eternal peace. 🌹🌹

I live in Texas and have been trying to keep up with this since the beginning, I feel like I received an early Christmas blessing knowing they have a suspect in custody. I’ve prayed for an arrest, and for their families . I look at my girls and their brother and am blessed I didn’t have to live the horror these families went through when they were younger. It won’t stop the feeling of loss, but it gives a end in sight for justice so long deserved.

This case always baffled me, I couldn’t believe the guy could be living nearby bc someone would have identified him. Thought it must have been someone just driving through. Seems he actually lived & lives in the area. Again, baffling he went unidentified for such a long time
I remember reading about the Adelphi murders. It really took a hold of me. It sounded like a horror movie. Seeing the image of the killer on the track and hearing his voice. Knowing what his intent was at that moment and the horror those two girls must have endured. I really hope this is the right person and that the family and the Adelphi community get justice.
I always thought it was actually the dad. Once I saw him on the Dr. Phil show I seen he had the same look. And he was the last one to see them if he was to pick them up. But were supposed to believe LE.

I'm in Ohio and I know that Allen worked for CVS in Delphi. He and his wife have a beautiful daughter, who is grown. I cannot imagine what this child (she is still a kid to me) must think. I feel bad for his family, who probably are in shock.

I also know my nephew was arrested the other day for speeding, weed, and having a hand gun when he's only 19. The cops actually called me and his other uncle to pick up his car instead of impounding it. The cop also only charged him for marijuana possession and dropped the rest.
Although exciting to hear progress on the case, it’s only an arrest so far so I wouldn’t get too hopeful. I really do hope this is the guy though… guess we’ll have to wait and see if everything adds up

This didn't just hit Delphi, it hit the entire state! My entire family is spread throughout the state and we all texted each other when this news broke. All grateful there was some update. It was always brought up during gatherings that it hadn't been solved and how sad that must be for the families. There were signs hanging up in gas stations asking for information on Purdue's campus. The entire state mourned for these two little girls. So glad to see that some justice might finally be coming for them.

I was born and raised in Lafayette. My father was from Delphi. I enlisted in the Navy in 1964 after graduating from Jefferson H.S. The Navy sent me to NavalAir Station Memphis TN.
I met the lady that would become my wife there. We recently celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary. I’ve been a Tennessee resident since 1977. I still have family in Lafayette and been following this case since it happened. It was a shock that such a thing would happen in Delphi. Rejoicing that they finally got the guy. Sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of those two girls.
I have a daughter so I shutter to think about what those families have gone through. I hope this arrest brings them some level of peace. I trust justice will be served and the evidence confirms they got the right guy.

When I heard his name I knew Richard Allen sounded familiar, then I realized why. Polly Klass's killer was named Richard Allen Davis. That's why it rang a bell.

Finally. Dear GOD, the horror these girls went through along with their families. My prayers and heartfelt thanks for law enforcement and all those who shared anything and never gave up this case. It is so tragic. I can not fathom the anguish of not knowing. These people do not deserve to walk this earth. If he is found guilty, may justice prevail and my prayers are that he gets the harshest sentence possible.

I hope the families of the girls get the justice they deserve, and I hope Doug and his team get the justice they've worked for and devoted the last 5½years to. There's been a lot of negativity towards LE recently, and justifiably! But Doug is one of the good guys, he has heart, and deserves every ounce of respect imaginable.

Well, we don't know if it's solved yet, they don't know if they got the right guy. But let's hope to God they do.
I hope they have solved this heartbreaking case. I can't fathom how, if this is the guy, he was able to stay in that small community among the residents for so long. The details of his story from between the time of their murders up until now will be quite interesting. I live in another city about 40 minutes away and from time to time I drive on the highway past Delphi. About a year ago I decided to drive down the road that would lead to an entrance path into that wooden area. I sat there awhile just thinking about the two girls. Although I was unable to actually see deep enough into the woods to see the High Bridge, just being in that location and knowing it was right down that path was such an eerie feeling. I can't begin to imagine the fear those two young girls were going through when their killer approached them and ordered them "down the hill". The presence of mind to use the phone to record what they could was so courageous and so very smart. Prayers that they have found the guy and the girls, their families and the community will finally have the justice they have been waiting for.

Ummm, FYI, they did find the girls...the day after they were tragically killed, sadly. They only got the murderer.
Wow, the fact you do this is mindblowing to me. I do stuff like this too. It’s like a way to disconnect from the present and and just think of how something insane happened at the location you’re in
I find it ironic that a law suit is recently filed against the sheriff and quickly after there's an arrest. The deputy behind the lawsuit stated he doesn't like the way the Delphi murders case was being handled.

@@CSAccetura personally I would like him to wind up in a cell for a couple years with a very large man who has a preference for his smaller cellmate and after a couple of years of being assaulted daily the electric chair. That's probably the more acceptable scenario I've come up with. Ultimately I think leaving him in a room with the girls families and an assortment of knives would be best. Oh and can't forget the adrenaline epipens don't want him passing out during the carving.
Thank god, I’ve been following this case since it happened and it’s never gotten away from me. Those two girls looked so innocent, literally EVERY PICTURE of them shown just screamed “genuine and innocent” to me and it just tore me up every time I’d hear about this. Please god, let this be the one who did it, and let him get the maximum sentence he can get for what he did.
I didn't remember the girls specifically But they passing impacted me enough i never forgot that Picture of the suspect from the Victims phone , It reeked of Real evil who didn't want to get caught which is why I remember \ wanted to see him arrested more then other killers💯

I live 15 mins from Delphi, and it’s crazy how the community came together for them. In Delphi and the surrounding counties, people still have orange porch lights and still dye their hair purple in honor of them. It’s amazing to see.

I have periodically checked on this case to see if anyone was caught. I felt so bad for those two girls.
Today I rejoice that the police and others who worked this case for years and did such hard work finally got the guy and thank them for doing so.
While those two girls can never be brought back at least they may see justice for what was done to them. And their families can find closure and peace.
Richard Allen was interviewed and stated that he never seen those two girls. Now, I know the officials are kicking themselves in the butt. His girlfriend even stated that he has a blue jacket similar to that in the recordings. But, no one took her seriously. Good for those two girls for solving their own murder. Even if it took over 6 yrs. 😢

A small part of me really thought this would be a cold case with this small bit of evidence that we'd either never figure out or only get answers too after the perpetrator died. But now here we are, with ANSWERS! I believe this was Abby and Libby working from wherever they may be in order to put their killer behind bars. Stuff is crazy.

I've heard this case several times across different true crime channels, and ever since I first heard this killer's voice it stuck with me for some reason Something in me got so angry beyond words, and I wished so badly he would be caught. I wouldn't be surprised if he admits to other murders.

He's not been convicted dear. It's likely the cops trying to forcefully close the case.
@@OWlsfordshire you can’t forcefully close a case, can you? You need enough evidence to arrest a suspect and “bulletproof” proof to convict someone.

@@OWlsfordshire I don’t think so, I don’t know how it is in the US but usually you cannot charge an individual for the same crimes twice, so you need enough evidence if you charge someone, second, you still have the justice system, there you can’t really forcefully close a case.

I remember seeing the video all over the internet, usually on one one of those true crime unsolved mysteries lists. A lot of those mysteries have yet to be solved, but it's so good to know that at least one of them (hopefully) has closure, finally. I hope the families can now finally move forward with their lives and have many blessings despite the unbelievable heartache they must be going through right now. ❤️
