Fantastic Isaac. The work you are doing here to share Barry's concepts in these bite sized videos is second to none. Respect from across the pond in the UK!
Thanks. The keyboard-cam does in fact help clarify things like your explanation of the relationship between dom 7 - half dim of the 3rd - important minor 6th. If I might humbly suggest: you might want to pull the keyboard cam out (up?) a bit so it's not quite so tight on the keyboard. We miss the front end of the keys (closest to you), and thus your thumb, fingers, and wrist. Surprisingly, it does seem to make a difference being able to see your fingers connected to your wrist/arm. But this new setup is indeed an improvement. I'll see you online on Saturday (although you won't see me, LOL). --Dave (formerly known as thewordnerds)
The wrist would definitely help see where his hand is moving to, I agree with that. Looking really slick with the overhead though! I think some more gentle side lighting would enhance the shadow cast on keys when they are played (cast from the unplayed key next to them) could make it even easier to see what you’re doing when at tempo.
Thanks for sharing and being of service as a conduit to Barry for those of us who have not been able to make Barry’s Tuesday classes in NYC or the virtual classes. I love it when you dig through your AMAZING class notes - first class audiation, aural dictation, and ability to take in, internalize, and break-down/contextualize Barry’s concepts - again a great service to the community elevating our musicianship! (I’m also glad you didn’t poo poo the larger frame on the wall to the right *ahem ahem ;)
Key cams are a nightmare to set up, I’ve been using a mic stand with a camera adapter, with a webcam attached running a feed into OBS, and it can get rough if the boom arm moves out of place from a bump, but it’s so worth the trouble. The info is solid, I’m understanding even the vertical videos, this theory is musical gospel no doubt.
@MrMichael4567 @MrMichael4567 ah I see, yeah I've always followed my ear, I can't read a score. I can sit and work one out but I can't just read them. I'd like to be able to.
"...what limited mental capacity I have left" - uh OK... I'd be happy to have even a tiny bit of that! Jesus son of Mary you're funny, charming, talented, smart. Still not happy?
so this flat five nd the minor6 is actually part of the same diminished that gives birth to G7. so beautiful!

New camera angle is cool 😎
Your content is too good to NOT have a good setup man. Thanks for this upgrade.
Thanks for getting the camera. When I don't understand the theory, I can go through the motions until it clicks in my head
This is much much better viewing

Agree, hands with wrists is much better, not just fingers. This is a great improvement!! Thank you Isaac!!

It’s all about the size of the frame isn’t it
Really like when you give something you learned in a specific class. Thank you!!
love the new set up and the explanation is as always great. Thankyou
Thank you so much and, I wish and hope that all you dreams come true.
Love this new layout. Much easier to see the hands. Thank you Isaac!
Like the new setup.
this is a sick setup
Im on minute 5 and super excited, thanks isaac!, your content is beatiful
Awesome! Thank you!
I really appreciate the new setup! I've been watching your videos in portrait to get a better view of the keyboard, so this is very helpful!
Cool. In another vid I think I'd find it useful if you gave some examples examples of what you regard as horrible sounding misuses of the minor 6th?
This is amazing Isaac.
Isaac thank you. This is amazing.
Awesome set up Sir....
That is called artistic freedom !! B chord : April in Paris

Yes, I'd prefer to focus on content rather than technical issues, but the current setup seems to work ok...
Starts basically at 3:35.
Can do it just as well on the I, ii and the V7
I dont understand where the octave A's comes from, and how did you include the B & D?
“April in paris” when it gets to the B7 chord, I would have descended from the flat 9 - to the sharp 5 - to the sharp 9
much much better
How much do want for that big envelope ?
Kool. Now you don't have to look up at us. 😂
I thought that the vertical videos were fine...
@MrMichael4567 no I just thought that they were fine. Novel even, I'd never seen one before.
@MrMichael4567 I'm watching always on a phone though. Maybe they look shitty on a descktop I don't know.
