They’ve been around 40+ years. Still perform. Definitely not 1 hit wonders. They are the only band I’m aware of that has a 1 armed drummer. (Auto accident). Still plays though
Hysteria was enormous, when I hear songs they take me right back in time. Gods of War... everytime I am whisked away back to 1989 where I'm walking down basement stairs at a party. Great times and music! Love almost all of Def Leopard's catalog.
@Timothy Chung Pyromania didn't hit 12 million sold in the US until 2004. I think it initially sold 6 million in the year after it came out. It hit 7 million right when Hysteria came out. It can take a minute for the sales to get up there. Between 1987 and 1990, Hysteria sold 10 million. It hit 12 million in 1998. Those are still astonishingly high numbers, no matter how long it took.
@@chrismorgan283 correct... pyromania sold 6M in its run thru 83... When Hysteria was released, they thought they were in trouble because in Dec87, sales stalled around 5M, and considered a failure. The average age of the band members when they hit MTV was 18 years old. The drummer lost his arm in an accident. They did not consider replacing him . This type of loyalty is rarely seen.
I graduated from high school in 1989. Had a nice evening with this song screaming in the background! Rock Of Ages is my go to song from these guys, Pyromania forever.
Hysteria, Bringin on the Heartbreak, Foolin, Photograph, Rock of Ages, Animal, Armageddon It, Too Late For Love are all more huge hits. Bringin on the Heartbreak is my all time favorite Def Leppard song (they're also my favorite band ever).
Absolutely! Amazing drummer. Watch their story. When he talks about how he lost his arm, it's tragic. I always liked them, but when they stuck with him after he lost it, I had the most respect for them. I don't know what order their songs were released, but I would venture to stay that they probably had more hit songs after the accident
I’m a 52 year old grandma, they are still my favorite. For sure not one hit wonder. Photograph is one of my won’t get out of the car until song is over songs.
Definitely not.lol..Their older stuff is my favorite..Bringing On The Heartbreak and Let It Go off their first album and Rock Of Ages, Foolin` and Too Late For Love off their Pyromania album..I`ve seen them twice before Rick Allen(drummer) lost his arm and after..They are Awesome!!
Dee, I totally agree with you. There first 2 Albums are awesome, In Through the Night and High n Dry.There very first single to hit the radio was my favorite song Rock Brigade.Love all there Music seen them in concert 5 times, every one kicked ass.
Growing up I used to hear critics pan this group because they were too “commercial”. So being a great band is ok as long as you don’t appeal to a wide audience and sell a gazillion albums. Got it.
I used to hear the same crap about Boston. In rock, it seems like if you get too popular, they start talking about how you’re too commercial or you sold out or something.
Remember how bad people hated Metallicas black album as being a sell out? It may have been, it also sold like crazy. I think sometimes it takes a few years so we can look back on music and see it for what it was.
Yes, it`s from the same album. One hit wonders? No. Total sales of 100 million. This album called "Hysteria" is totally solid. 20 million sold. Every song is good. Check out "animal" next. Also from the same album
That is just not true. It's an exaggeration, plain and simple. Now, if you would have said that they've had maybe a half dozen hits in their time together then you would be much closer to the truth. If you think I'm wrong then prove it. List all these hits they've supposedly had by name and their position in the top, let's say 20 over their career. By #1's, #2's, #3's, etc... Thank you.
Well, a quick google search for haters like Daniel would show they have had 5 number 1 and 17 top-10 singles according to Billboard. But hey.... also editing to add that 4 albums in a row were certified multi platinum as well. So yes, they have as many hits - and more- than any other well known band. Also, if you’re sassy enough to demand someone else produce this list, you’re probably computer literate enough to look yourself. 🙄.
It's my opinion man. I don't really need to prove anything. I don't really care about Billboard rankings and all that. Everyone has their own definition of what a hit is.

And... again... their top album sales: High & Dry: 2x Platinum | Pyromania: Diamond (10x Platinum) | Hysteria: Diamond (12x Platinum) | Adrenalize: 3x Platinum | Retro Active: Platinum | Slang: Gold | Euphoria: Gold. ----> what do you think?
Rick Allen lost his arm in a crash and learned how to play drums with one arm. They are one of my favorites till this day. Glad you looked into them. Congrats on the exposure to a truly great band.
Hysteria topped Michael Jackson’s thriller in 1987. Hitting number one on the Billboard charts and topping off at seven hit singles on one record! They have sold 25 million copies of this album
This was a number one on the billboards back in 80s ..most of this album singles charted so making them not a one hit wonder..on other hand just on the rock charts there one most charted there
Love Def Leopard!! Seen an interview with Joe Elliott a while back and he said that their last tour sold even more than their 1989 tour. They are definitely still out there and killing it. Great song pick and reaction!! 🙂
I love a lot of their live stuff, you can tell they are really into it and having fun when they are playing live. You can also tell they have spent so much time getting it right. Some bands just play live, this is one that perform live.
I wasn't allowed to listen to Pour some sugar on me because of the church so my smart ass asked if it was the same sugar from Sheena Easton's Sugar Walls ( which was banned too..lol) then Van Halen did OU812.. lol

Yes that is the Hysteria album cover, you have heard two songs from that album, Hysteria is a decent record but not every song is great. The song 'Hysteria' is one of the better songs.

Def Leppard and “one hit wonder” should never exist together in the same sentence.
LMBOOTYOFF 🤣🤣🤣 you got that sentence RIGHT!!!! 🎶😳🎶😳
the Title is obviously click-bait..
or else he got them mixed up with Edie Breckel
Agree
This band is most definitely not a one hit wonder, their music has stood the test of time for decades.
Absolutely agree!!!!!
They’ve been around 40+ years. Still perform. Definitely not 1 hit wonders. They are the only band I’m aware of that has a 1 armed drummer. (Auto accident). Still plays though

ROME LIFE Please react to "Let's Get Rocked" by Def Leppard! Read the lyrics first.
The average age of the band members when they hit MTV was 18 years old.
The drummer lost his arm in an accident.
They did not consider replacing him .
This type of loyalty is rarely seen.
AMEN to that!!! (the loyalty, particularly) Glad to see someone else note that 😊
And don’t forget their guitarist dying.
Steve Clark, one of their main songwriters and sooo talented. Brilliant musician and classically trained guitarist.
"One hit wonders"??? Def Leppard are rock royalty, dude!
I'm trying to be optimistic about the title. He knew we'd be coming for him
Yeah like by Def Leppard, I would definitely check out:
1.Photograph
2. Rock Of Ages
3. Foolin'
4. Bringing On The Heartbreak
Fooling is my Favorite
5. Animal
6. Rocket
7. Billy's Got a Gun
8. Too Late For Love
9. Armageddon It
10. Run Riot
11. Hysteria
And Too Late
You nailed my favs!

"Too late for love," "Hysteria," "Photograph," "Fooling," "Let's get rocked." Are just a few of their hits. They have many more.
"Rock Rock " , "High and Dry".

Bringin on the Heartbreak has such incredible vocals. It's probably my favorite as well but depending on my mood sometimes Rock of Ages ties it.
I agree. But one I'd add to the list is Gods of War. Totally underrated song.

I Know I mentioned it in the last video feed.
Isn't that crazy. It is why it took them 3 years to release "Hysteria". And it became their biggest selling album.
It was very cool of the band to wait for the drummer to come back. It would have been so easy for them to move on given their popularity at the time.
I just mentally screamed because there is no way I can get any sound out of my mouth.
Yeah the drummer lost his arm in a bad car accident. He almost gave up. None of the band would let him
