  • TK103B Gps Tracker A nice small unit easily hidden under the dash and can control many functions from your cell phone.
    Here is a link to get the complete instructions. In theory this unit should work where ever there is texting available through your cellular provider and satellite reception

    This device operates on 12 volts. Now with that said most electronic will reduce the power in to a lower power to work with the internal electronics. I would imagine that the lowest voltage you could use is 9 volt, but this is just a guess and I have no experience in operating a unit like this at less that 12 volts. -John

      hi big guy thanks for this video i just have 1? im still confused about the sim card where do i get a sim card if i buy this unit from amazon?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      Normally you will notice that Amazon will pair up these things with a Sim card that you can order at the same time. Mine was from H2O. I decided to go with some one else but the cards on Amazon were like a penny each. Here is a link to the one that should fit your unit. amzn.to/29KVwv3 Just be sure to order the standard SIM card as the Micro will not fit.

      You were lucky. I happen to be up and getting ready to leave for Boston. Any later and it would have been a two day wait. Happy to see you got your truck back. Things like that don't happen often. These tracker are really good for the price. The smaller ones sometimes don't have the signal strength to be able to use the cell tower to get a signal out. Good Luck and let me know how things go. -John

    Hi Big guy,
    I connected the white thin wire coming out of the relay to the POSITIVE of Battery , and to test it out i took a small 12v bulb just like you - connected one end to the NEGATIVE and the other to RED wire coming out from the relay but it doesn't glow... please advise...
    Thanks.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      OK Looking at the relay. The "White" wire goes to battery +12 volt. The "Yellow" wire goes to the item being powered. (Such as the fuel pump.) The "Red" wire goes to the Battery (FUSED) +12 volt. The "Black" wire should go to the connector that is attached to the GPS unit.
      The white wire you see in the video attached to the led light id just a patch wire. I used it because it was smaller and could easily be attached to the light. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Best of luck -John

    What is the function of the remote ?. I assume ON/OFF & SOS.
    Any others ?.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  10 лет назад

      Ya I have the remote too. It basically is used like a car alarm key fob. but it also incorporates the S.O.S. function. So if you are in troubles and not in the car but close to it you can also call out for a SOS.

    Great Review.
    1 Question though: I bought this same unit for both my vehicles. However, tracking via mobile phone works excellent. BUT the arming/disarming isn't working from the remote. I arm with the remote and open the car door to see if I get any texts stating car door is opened. After a while I still get no texts stating if any door was opened. What can you assume to be the problem? Is their any way to configure the remote,etc?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      +stevenrajh To be honest with you I never used the remotes. Is it possible that there is a time that needs to pass before you open the door. Something like arming your home. Normally it won't arm for like 1 min. after. Have you looked at the instruction posted online? Here is a link to them. www.gpstracker7.com/upfile/download/2013012215365663631.pdf

    Hey John, Thanks for the explanation video! I'm considering the same unit. Does it function as an alarm as well? Can it be set to send a text if it senses vibration or can it accept input from a proximity sensor? I'm installing it in a motorcycle, so the ability to know someone is tampering with the bike is critical, even if it doesn't actually move (and change coordinates).

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад +1

      +Stefan Giudici You cab do alot with these units. It is dual purpose gadget. Yes you can hook just about anything up to the unit that sends out a voltage when triggered. Like dome light, shock sensor, battery disconnect relay, The only limits are your knowledge of 12 volts and your imagination. -John

    Thank you for the video Big Guy. I have a few questions as I am considering to purchase this unit. What sim card providers do you recommend? Would a pay as you go (cheapest plan $10~) be sufficient? Would the cheapest plan last the 3 month period? Does the sim card require data or only calls and text? Is the data only required for the GPS function? How accurate would you consider it to be? Sorry if I asked some noob questions. I am simply trying to get a car tracking device that will be accurate and cheap with cost at the same time. I await on your response,thanks.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      These trackers are very accurate when using GPS, the GSM is a little less. A "pay-as-u-go" SIM is the best and cheapest way to go (thats what I did). Finally you only need the regular sim card. these GPS units DO NOT use data. everything is done with text messages. Buy a sim card from a national carrier like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint. In Canada you can use Rogers, Bell, and Telus. In Europe try Vodafone, AMC, or Eagle Mobile. This will give you better coverage. Thanks for your question it will indeed help others with the same interest. Please Subscribe.

      Big Guy Review
      Thanks for the fast reply. I am in the US. I have done a bit more of research and have noticed that people here in the US are using H2o or At&t pay as you go. So the unit will use the GSM signal from my service provider (att,H2o,etc) and the GPS signal is automatically picked up by the tracker its self (when available)? Does the tracker require 2G/3G/4G?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      No "G" these trackers do not require a data sim card. The tracker will use it's GPS antenna to track with and send you via a text message the coordinates. You then can use your phone's maps (what i use and does not require internet) to see where the coordinates are. If for some reason the tracker can not get a GPS signal it will use land based antenna to triangulate itself . This is why the tracking is a little off. But still damn good. Here is a link to Amazon for the sim cards www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=aps&keywords=h2o%20sim%20card&linkCode=as2&tag=bigure05-20&linkId=BV7XRJ2K25R3OY4D

    Nice review.. Have you checked its accuracy? I mean is it an actual gps tracker or does it rely only on the gsm signal?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      OH good question. The GPS is excellent! If you were to stand where the icon show on the map you would either be standing on the truck or beside it. GSM well thats a little different. Since it depends on the antennas and the signal strength from the unit the final area will be larger. I would say maybe about 50 / 100 feet. I didn't get a chance to test that but everything else worked fine. Wait just a sec. I just remembered.. I brought the truck in for an battery change and when they disconnected the battery the frigg'n tracker kept sending me texts.. (damn it took them an hour to change that battery) And it was a GSM location and it was accurate. The icon on the map was dead on but the shaded circle around the icon was larger than with the GPS. When there is no GPS it all depends on signal strength. Hope this helps.

    How do I obtain a phone number inexpensively/no monthly recurring fees ?? I just got an h2o prepaid sim card. When I go to their site to energize and put some "pay as you go" money in the sim, it asks me for a phone number. From reading the questions / answers below from other users, my understanding is the phone number does not belong to the GPS locator but to the SIM card right? And do I have to go and buy a cheap phone from somewhere, for prepaid cards in order to get a phone number?? How do I obtain a phone number to associate with the prepaid sim in an inexpensive way so I'm not stuck with monthly fees besides having to reload $ to my pay as you go SIM card? Thanks for your time great video by the way!

    • @BigGuyReview

      +Yiannis Anagnostou There are numbers on the unit that you will need to input to the service providers web site. The are electronic signatures that are unique to that unit. all cell phones have them. Yes the phone number belongs to the sim card, but it will only work with the equipment it has been registered to such as your tracker. The tracker in essence is a cell phone. I found that buying a yearly plan is cheapest. Remember that you do NOT want any data plan. This is only for texting and nothing else, Voice can be used but not necessary since it is only a one way deal with these tracker. Let me know if this helped you out if not let me know and i will go into more detail.

      +Big Guy Review So far, I called the h2o company's phone number and I told them that I have a sim card I need to validate and get a new phone number with it so I can use it in one of my phones. They didn't ask me what phone etc. They asked me what prefix phone number I like, I told them 770 and they gave me a 770 number (no charge). I put $10 on the sim, and they told me when I insert it in my phone, since I didn't activate it online (the web site link did not work so I had to call them), the 1st time I need to recharge it on the website, they site will automatically call my phone 1st to "validate" my identity and that it's me so the charge will go the the correct phone number, and after that, I can recharge it by the retained info. (Then, I plan to take the sim out and insert it to the gps). You don't think this would work? I do see a serial number on the gps tracker like yours on the side, shall I need to input it at some point? I will be happy to come back and update later if you like or let me know if you have any inputs. Thanks alot!

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      normally there is a ESN electronic serial number that should be on the unit. If it isn't there you might be able to get it from inside the unit. You would have to connect to a computer if you can. I really can't remember if it has a mini or micro USB port. but this would allow you access to the unit's info. The reason the service provider is going to call you is so that they can grab the info from the phone during the call. My guess is that they will input all this info themselves. When that is done and you pull out the SIM card and place it into the tracker it won't transmit the same ESN and the service provider will not allow the unit access to the service. Look for the link to the full operating and set up instructions. I have left a link in the description of one of the videos I have made for this tracker.

    • @evianway

      +Big Guy Review Thanks John! They didn't call, they just sent me a text the the phone number I sent them for "authentication" purposes to make sure a vandal/scammer didn't take over/ security breach. I do understand what you are saying though, it usually never what it seems in the surface. These units are set by default to pull the esn number etc in the setup by default automatically, but it can also be input manually. I checked the info from my phone when I put the sim in, it pulls the info from that gadget automatically. I don't think the SIM / "pay as you go" provider cares what phone I put it in. I put it in another phone, and it worked. Then, I put it in the GPS locator, and it worked seamlessly. It gave location and responded to the commands. The SOS button is also convenient and I like it. I am trying to learn now if the GPRS mode is useful to set up, (APN setup) etc, I'm not clear if they are just needed when I decide to access the info / gps location info from a computer or not, and if for that there is going to be a monthly fee or not, so far, all I need is to get the texts and alarms to my iphone and that's good enough for me. Thanks again for the great clear video you made!! let me know at any time if you need any inputs. I'm setting my system up to protect an enclosed trailer with tools etc, top off the 12V battery (mower battery) with solar charger, and I'm looking now into combining this gps location with an alarm system (that does not text), to possibly connect it so when the alarm/security system is supposed to go off, to trip the gps locator's alarm function so I will get a text if a breach occurs.

    John, question regarding the sim card and data plan. I purchased a $10 sim card from H2OWireless (you may or may not have heard of it). They offer several plans ranging from 4.5GB data to as little as 500MB and then some simpler talk/text plans. The dude at BestBuy says Ill probably need at least 3GB/mo. Is that accurate? Or can I do with one of the simpler and chearper talk/text plans? Appreciate your help, thanks!

    Not sure how to ask this Q but when you say "A "pay-as-u-go" SIM is the best and cheapest way to go" what exactly does that mean? None of the cell phone companies where I live will bother with a SIM card unless they're installing it in a new phone purchased from them. I asked. So, exactly how do you get the SIM card activated, and how does it work with the unit since it isn't a cell phone? Thanks!

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      Well lancer525 it depends on where you live. If you live in Canada get a rogers sim card. If you live in the U.S.A. you have a large assortment of carriers to choose from. You can try H2o. Remember that all you need is a regular sized Sim card and NOT the Mini or nano. The other thing is to get the regular Sim card and NOT one for data. Just tell them it is for a older flip phone you have. If they ask you who was your carrier. just tell them you got it from a friend and the phone is unlocked. when choosing a plan all you need is a text plan. the tracking device is virtually a cell phone with a GPS unit in it. Hope this helps.

    • @lancer525
      @lancer525 9 лет назад

      I'll see if this helps. I went to a Verizon, a T-Mobile, and a Sprint store, and all three of them told me it was "against company policy" to sell "just a SIM card" without installing it in a phone, and "did I want to look at the new iPhone or perhaps a Galaxy S5?" Personally, based on what you just said, it seems more like they're trying to pad their commission rather than trying to sell me what I want. Thanks, Big John!

    Thank you

      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад +1

      Hilson Hi Hilson; I wouldn't worry about the CD. You only need it to install a program that links up to another program or internet site to allow you to track in real time the movements of your vehicle. I found it to be a waste of time and money. You can just call the unit and it will tell you where it is, and Google maps will give ya a map picture of the area. If it is really important to you contact me on the "About" page and click on "Send Message" If You leave me your address I'll send you mine (if I can find it...lol) If all you need are the full instructions you can go to this link: www.gpstracker7.com/upfile/download/2013012215365663631.pdf Everything you need to know is right here. Thanks for your comment. I haven't checked but if you haven't Subscribed please do so. Every click helps mate....Cheers!

    How does one get the data packs . I was looking last night and they sell packs of gprs or mms I can't remember .I did a search for the gprs packs and could find out how to buy them . Although I read about them . They are in a 2 - 2.5 g cellular signal . So it would seem that that sice the data is smaller and restricted to text and such that the packs would be cheaper than paying for a full fledged phone line . I know they use sim cards in a lot of devices such as kindle from amazon I took apart a clone of a kindle that was broken and it had a sim . . If you know of any resources or info . I would appreciate it . As well if I find out anything I will be sure to let you know . I think with a little searching There has to be something out there .

    Hello Big Guy,I am very interested in getting this unit for my growing rental car biz on Turo. Quick question.... Can I send a text message to unlock the car doors if I have it properly wired? Is that a feature of the unit? Looking at the wiring diagram there seems to be door trigger positive and negative.It would be great to be able to hide a key inside for customers and remotely open the door for them when they get to the car. I would unlock the door from my cell phone and the key would be waiting inside so they can take off.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      You can. You will have to use the ignition kill wire. You would have to use another relay because the one provided will not work. Just send the command to kill the engine and instead of killing the engine it will unlock the doors. You will how ever have to send the opposite command right after to turn the power off to the relay as it will burn out the solenoids.

    • @emilnazaryan3000
      @emilnazaryan3000 8 лет назад

      I kind of figured something like that using the kill command. But not the optimal way of doing the doors. Sending a command to end the kill would probably do the opposite and lock the car (thinking the relay will work one way then the other).Now I do see some similar units that have a GM looking remote along with all the wiring and additional parts and pieces. I wonder If that would do the job of unlocking the car?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      The remote that comes with them is pretty useless. To send the resume engine command wouldn't lock the doors. You would only hook up the one wire to the unlock lead of the electric locks. Sending the second command would be to turn the relay off. I am not sure how long the GPS unit will keep the relay activated.

    I have one since a couple of days. Works OK, only a few minutes after power-on the GPS goes into sleep mode. The only way I found to let it 'wake-up' is to send a resetxxxxxx command.
    Is there any way I can tell the tracker to let the GPS stay active all the time ? Tried all the sleepxxxxxx and gpsxxxxxx combinations but the GPS still goes into sleep mode. So if I want an up-to-dat location of my stationairy object I first have to send a resetxxxxxx followed by a phonecall or smslinkxxxxxx ;(

      +Big Guy Review Thanks ! The instructions given in that manual don't match up with the ones in mine. It seems there are a good number of clones with a variety of software around and I am the 'lucky' owner of one. I'll give hooking up the ACC line to +12V a try today, maybe that will keep the GPS alive.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      I would imagine that the ACC+ is there to tell the unit when the car is running and when it isn't. Funny how it sleeps though. I can only tell you that re-reading the instruction might help. No I don't think you are dumb. We are all guilty at misreading something because we are tired or stressed and trying to rush through something. Sometime re-reading when we have the time to focus allows us to see the error we have made. I wish you much luck. -John

    Hey John, Question for you.
    I've installed 3 of these trackers over the last couple years, all worked flawlessly. The last one with central locking took quite bit, but it works great.
    Have you successfully bound a second remote to the tracker (if you have one)? I have an extra, and I seen a miss match of instruction referring to 7 or 5 sos clicks with a couple of horn clicks thrown in. All trying to initiate a learning mode for tracker. I've never been successful nor anybody else I can find. I'm wondering if you have.
    Having a single remote is bloody liability..

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      surf4luke Ya the remote control. This is by far the tracker's biggest Boo! Boo! I found the remote more complicated to use and understand than the tracker and all that wire. I personally just stuck with the text control and left it at that. So sorry I could not be more help but as I am sure you are finding out the remote control was more of a selling point than a useful add-on.

    • @chadjones3244
      @chadjones3244 6 лет назад

      Hey guys, I figured it out. So the issue was the tracker sending me a message everytime it started the car. So what I did to stop this was go to the petrol station and with an empty fuel tank. Send the nooil+password. Then I received the nooil OK message. Next I filled up the fuel tank and sent the oilfull+password. Then it sent oilfull OK. This fixed the issue with the messages so that is just my two cents big guy.

    Hi
    Good day.
    Recently I have bought TK103B from eBay & have installed it in my car.
    But there are two main problems that I cannot resolve.
    The seller in eBay is of no help at all.
    1) every 7 minutes, it beep once non-stop.
    2) it gives out very bad radio interference to my FM radio
    I would most appreciative if you could help me to resolve these problems.
    Thank you & have a nice day.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад +1

      +putianren When you say it lets out a "Beep" you mean to your phone or on the unit ? As far as the interference with your radio it may be too close to the radio or antenna. The other issue is that the unit may be sending interference through the 12 volt line. If it is connected to a power source that runs your radio or close to your radio this could also cause the interference. Try this link. It contains all the info you will need to operate your unit. www.gpstracker7.com/upfile/download/2013012215365663631.pdf

      Hi
      Good day.
      Thank you for your reply.
      The beep actually comes from the new siren I connected to. I did not use the original siren.
      It quite annoying especially in the night when beep every 7 minutes.
      It look as though it is giving an indication of something not right.
      I checked the user manual umpteen times, but not avail.
      Next , Yes, as you said, the interference is really coming from the power supply. so I re route a new power supply wires direct from the battery.
      But the interference is still there but slightly less unless it is kept faraway from all other wires in the car > simply means outside the car.
      Yes, when the power wires are out side the car & route back to the car inside > no problem ( this was done for testing).
      My two main primary functions are GPS tracking & immobilize which work very well.
      I am thinking of removing the siren which will solve the "beep:" problem.
      But the radio interference is still not solved.
      What about installing inside the boot??
      Anyway, thanks for your great help & anymore suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
      Thank you & have nice day.
      ps: could it be that I have a bad TK103B > defective??

    i had someone install this in my car and he told me to pay him 50u.s every year for the service. is that true?

    • @ThePlowGuys
      @ThePlowGuys 7 лет назад

      willingston dwyer well that depends. does that include the service. do you have control of the unit? do you pay any money to cell phone service?

    • @Jay_will1988
      @Jay_will1988 7 лет назад

      yes i have control of the unit but i still have to buy credit to put on the sim card

    • @ThePlowGuys
      @ThePlowGuys 7 лет назад

      willingston dwyer then you shouldn't have to pay for anything else. you bought the unit, you pay for monthly sim card access. no need to pay for anything else.

    • @ThePlowGuys
      @ThePlowGuys 7 лет назад

      you got it buddy. the sim card is the only thing that should cost you by the month. now with that said the installer may have you hooked up to a service apart from the sim card.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      +Know More I am not sure. Look to see if you can reset the unit. Also look to see if you are using GPS or GSM. The GPS uses the satelites and GSM uses the cell phone towers to triangulate you position. Let me know how it goes. -John

      Yep works great! Had the van out at the garage last month for a battery change and the damn tracker kept telling that the power was disconnected. At the least I know how long they worked on my truck from the first text tot he last one..lol

    can i instal it on a motorcycle like a 2013 gsxr 600?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  7 лет назад

      These are not really meant for a motorcycle. The unit is not sealed against moisture or water. Also these units use a 2G wireless system. In North America you will need the minimum of a 3G.

    • @JEAN-FAF
      @JEAN-FAF 7 лет назад

      Ok thx i'm from Curacao. I'm going to look for the info about 2G or 3G here on Curacao

      They use a model like these on cars here. But i'm going to make some good info about it.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  7 лет назад +1

      There is a lot of different models available. It is best to be sure the one you get can work with 3G and is water proof.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  7 лет назад

      Su unidad puede estar defectuosa. Es posible que desee probar otra unidad. El otro problema podría ser que su proveedor celular ya no proporciona el servicio 2g para esta unidad. (Google translate)

      Michael Enitan In theory it should. As long as you have Cellphone service you should be good to go. Since GPS is world wide that should not be a issue. Let me know how it goes. -John

    Hello Big Guy , l wanted to ask about that unit lm not getting , does it only accept 2G lines ? aftr l purchase this unit do l need to subscribe to anyone else again ,coz l might need something like 200 units of those ?so l will only subscribe to my network provider to get sms back from that unit ?? is that so Sir ? or l have to subscribe to someone else to get the full service ? help me on that please Mr Big Guy

    • @vantime2911
      @vantime2911 7 лет назад

      LOL Mr. Big Guy...I love it!.. Call me John. These old units only worked on 2G. A lot of network providers no longer offer 2G. The minimum you can get now is 3G and up. They only require a connection to your cellphone provider and that is it. The units send a text message to the owner with the GPS location. most phones will allow you to just click on the underlined text and it will bring you to google maps and show you exactly where the unit is. Hope this helps buddy.
