This is such a cool show and quite well produced, retro game corps exposed me to your channel and I'm glad he did. I like that you're playing a character but still get to the point, like AVGN or something.
Ha, we got a nose reveal! I think, it ran away quickly. Pretty often, a card with a dead gpu chip will boot without drivers in my experience. So, maybe one of the cards will actually fail later? Would love to see those low end, low profile models emulating. Maybe some are decent upgrade over Intel HD? As for the 7870, I used to own one, loved it, it was a really nice card back in the day. Actually, I'm looking forward to most of your tests.
I like that you always show stuff in it's best light. Some ppl would run 4fps GTA 5 on the 5450, call it e-waste and laugh at the poor little thing. I know you'll find something it can still do!
GTX 550ti >> wasn't sure about that one. I have a trio of old Phenom II x3 here and it was my main gaming GPU for a long long time. It stopped working in the original rig but it could just be a problem with the PC... didn't bother sticking it in a modern machine so it was a tossup. The other ones I was 95% sure they all worked. Note that the HD7870 and R9270 were repasted so you shouldn't have to clean em and repaste them. Just FYI.

My bro from college left me his box of cd research materials. Dragonbal x Sailormoon and La Blue Girl brings back memories. Sold them to a creep in ebay, good deal.
I had a 7870 paired with an Intel G3258 overclocked. The G3258 was on sale from microcenter with a MSI PC mate + G3258 combo for $110. That was my budget PC build that I used to play equivalent Xbox one launch titles. I was playing Shadow of Mordor at 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1080. The only time the game saw SMALL dips was when loading in LARGE structures like forts or castles. The poor little dual core would ping to 100% but after less than a second it would plow through the load. What a great little CPU.
The specs were WONKY lol. I had a G3258 w/stock cooler, MSI Z97 PC mate, 16GB of G.Skill DDR3 1600 CAS 7 (4x 4GB), 256GB Sandisk SSD, Radeon 7870 (I think XFX model), Rosewell 1000W PSU (It was on sale) all in a OLD Antec black case with a big acrylic side window with BIG blue cold cathode lights and blue LED 80mm fans. Looked like a fishtank.
With all the prominent tech youtubers competing about being unimpressed and horrified about the RTX 4060 Ti, your channel - with this kind of content - is such a gem. Your content is truly original, and you have personality to back it up. Keep it up, mate!
If i dont recall wrong the 7970 was supported to summer 2021. Longest supported gpu in history. I gave mine to a friend that used it to a year ago. Intresting see what 3 gb vram still can do
My first gaming computer was a prebuilt I got from Microcenter with a Celeron processor, 1.8 GHz over clocked to 2.4. My second real computer was in 2008, Intel i7-860 2.3 GHz with a HG 5700. That computer rocked and I used it until like 2017. That computer still works.
I bought a 550ti or 560ti for my Dad's prebuilt Dell back in 2012 so we could game together, and it's still kicking, playing Civ VI at 1080p. I probably need to remind him to clean it... Cool preview of upcoming videos! Shout out to Dingbat for the awesome contribution. I'm looking forward to the head-to-head GT 730 video and 550ti!
Ah the GTX 550 ti the competitor too ATI's/AMD's very well performing midrange star of a card the HD 5770. My sapphire HD 5770 lite still works perfectly fine as well since i bought it new in September/October ish 2010 or so ? I do have a gigabyte batmobile cooler hd 5770 as well but one dvi port is bad on it & the onboard fan controller is dead on it so it just goes full speed on the fan unfortunately.
In actuality, the R9 270 should be very similar in performance to the 7870. It's basically the same card (Pitcairn/Curacao) released the following year with a different name so they could pretend it was part of the next generation. The differences should just be in tuning. If it were a 270X it would be tuned a bit better.
I have a r9 270x which does just fine in everything I also have a gt 730 it is the worst gpu i ever bought lol I dont see why people sell so called gaming computers with gt 730s in them and get away with calling it a gaming computer but good videos im wathing them anyway lol
Hmmmmm...there's a common thread, here. All of those cards have Windows XP drivers. I'll go out on a limb...it sounds like Dingbat is almost as old as I am, and I'm willing to bet he was messing around with a vintage Windows XP build. If that's the case, I approve! By the way, the GDDDR5 version of the GT 730 pairs well with a core 2 duo CPU in those old small form factor PC's from Dell, HP and Lenovo. Install Windows XP Professional SP3 and you can have a blast playing games from an era when games were actually fun. lol Have you ever built a vintage gaming PC, TD?
I haven't built an XP machine on the channel (yet), my last XP machine was back in the XP days! But I've been saving up some spare parts and I hope to do a good oldschool vintage build at some point. Just need to find a giant ugly beige case for authenticity :)
@@TechDweeb That would be awesome! Man, I've had so many beige cases through the years. All I have left are two Gateway PIII cases, but those are destined for Windows 98SE greatness. lol
You should review the surface duo for ds emulation

I had an R9 270X for many years in an ITX build. It was a really nice GPU. But sadly, PUBG run completely unusable on it even on the lowest setting. To be fair, PUBG was running bad on pretty much everything back then. :) Also, the A10-5800K APU was not a powerhouse either. I'm really looking forward for the just announced RX 7900 GPUs, it could be I'll have a Radeon in my next machine once again.
Hey Dweeb, how about some more Miyoo Mini content man? There are so many settings and onion OS that I was so confused just trying to enable and disable certain features. Is there any way you could do it comprehensive guide of all the features in Onion OS?
Yeah I can definitely do more content about Onion if it would be helpful. Did you see my recent Onion OS V4 video? (ruclips.net/video/uOgbkWM53TQ/видео.html). Let me know what sorts of things you need help with and if I haven't covered it yet I'll consider making another guide.
@@TechDweeb Hey Dweeb, I actually had some trouble with figuring out how to get back to the main menu of a game, without having the game always save and restart where I left off. Sometimes I don't want to start off where I left off (if I lose a life for example), I may want to re-start. Also, the saving and loading was a bit confusing. The only way was to hold the menu button and press R, but it was hard to keep track of save states, not sure if there's a way to do that for each game. There were a few other issues, but those were the ones that gave me the biggest headache. After trying out Onion OS for two days I didn't like it and watched your video of Mini UI. I absolutely LOVE Mini UI and it gives me exactly what I wanted from Onion, without all of the confusing aspects. Have you considered doing a comparison video of Onion and Mini UI?

“He was too shy to call me sweetheart or darling so instead he called me his little dingbat”
Man I think you just described Dingbat perfectly...and me, who's from a similar era

Yo Dweeb, please try the GT 730s on Windows XP. Ithink it will be nice for that era of classic games

Also Zotac is a good brand, I don't recommend the 16xx lineup though because those are toasty.
My Mom made me watch thoughs old show on TV Land they were pretty cool, It was in the 90's when I watched it
Well I don't know about him but that's definitely me 😂
I went through almost every one of this cards and quite a few more
The most powerful one. That would be one I would like to see soon.

My first GPU was a GTX 1050 2GB.
Yeah...I got into PC recently.
That was a solid gpu! Probably not quite enough for most brand new games but it's held on strong over the years.

Interesting I didn't know that it was the longest supported gpu.
@@TechDweeb yeah around 10 years. I remeber ordering the 7970 over the faster 680 for the vram sake. 680 died out very fast but 7970 lived on.

Tried getting one of those but only the crummier i70 was available

I think the hd7870 and the r9 270 is eccentially the same card. I have the hd7970 ghz edition and I know it's equivalent to the r9 280x.

Very nice video! You do have some 007 skills (deducting the profile of the sender of the box) haha 😂
