The Bronx New York City Hoods - Fordham Road on a Saturday

Today we are in The Bronx, New York not exactly the most glamorous borough of New York City. In fact The Bronx is the poorest borough as 30% of residents live below the poverty line. It is also the poorest congressional district in the country. It is a majority-minority borough as it is the only borough where Hispanics are the majority, making up 54% of the population. Blacks come in second at 30%. Out of all 5 boroughs The Bronx has the lowest number and percentage of whites. It is also an immigrant Mecca, with people coming from all over such as Russia, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ecuador, Mexico and so forth. Puerto Ricans alone make up 10% of the population, and Dominicans 9%.
Before we get into the projects and neighborhood blocks we decided to visit Fordham Road, the borough's largest commercial shopping district. We want to show you where Bronx residents go to shop and also how much it reflects the people and different cultures that reside in the Bronx and call the borough home in 2023.

I just watched the Philly video and the Bronx just looks so much cleaner than Philly, and I didn't see anybody hunched over either. That Philly video was just sad to watch.

We start out north on University Ave and immediately turn east to Fordham Road. At 1:12 we're crossing the Croton Aqueduct.
Before the start of the video, on Fordham Road there's a steep hill up from Manhattan. At the end of the video we're going down the hill. After the end of the video we'd reach the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Garden.
I have walked many times on Fordham Road from the Bronx Zoo to Manhattan. It's a nice trip.

It's a nice place to walk. Lots of energy and people and a steep never-ending hill. Just be careful crossing the street. You can walk from the Bronx Zoo to Manhattan.
