Because in India brokerage accounts are of types full service brokers like MO, Icici direct and online brokers like zerodha, groww. Both provide demat but not quite sure if this margin concept is feasible !

Hi Vijay. Thank you for your guidance. Most European banks gives us loan for an interest of 1-1.5% Suppose if we take a personal loan of 10000€ and invest it in to diversified index fund expecting a return of 8-10% for a long term and we know that even if the market goes down by 30% but a over a period of time it will recover. So instead of taking margin calls with broker account can we take personal loan and repay it by our monthly salary so that our stock portfolio is not affected. Could you please let me know if this is a good option considering it as a long term index fund investment for a period of 15-20 years?
Getting a personal loan for equity investing is not a good idea. Saying that, it depends on your risk profile. My general rule of thumb is, if the expected return rate is more than double the amount of loan interest, then we could potentially go for the loan. We should do that knowing that it is a risky move.

Search for the fund and see if you can find direct funds there. The name itself will say "Direct" or "Regular". Most probably No. I know Groww and Kuvera offers direct funds. Another option is to open account directly with the fund house to buy the "direct" funds.

There will always be assets in your account. You might have to watch the episode again. As the value of our assets go down, the margin requirement makes sure that we either add more money into the account or they sell our remaining assets to meet the margin call.

They do offer. But the loan interest is super high.

ICICI will not offer direct funds. You need to use either groww/Kuvera or open account directly with the fund house.
