I can tell you're relatively new to MMA. A punch on a grounded opponent cant create anywhere near the same amount of power as a kick or knee. So yes, it does make sense. Knees and kicks to a grounded opponent can cause serious injuries, theres a reason why they are banned. So oblivious man.
