Naughty Dog is the best gamedev company in my opinion. Mostly because of how well they crafted the world of The Last Of Us. The feelings within tlou are so strong, definitely at the end. I usually never cry when watching movies or playing games but the last of us came so close to making me cry and not just once...
"Did everyone have a boat? Y'know, before it all went to shit." "Yeah, I had a 60-foot yacht." "Really?" *Joel stares into Ellie's soul* "Sarcasm. Making progress."

In my opinion a second game to The Last of us wouldn't fit in. The game tells the story about Joel and how Ellie went from ''cargo'' to ''new daughter''. He never calls her his daughter but everyone knows that he sees her as a daughter by the end of the game. The things he did to save her from dying. He rather let humanity die then letting Ellie die for a cure. That is something that most parents would do to save their kids and loved ones. I don't think a second The last of us would beat this. Joel lost his daughter in the beginning and in the end he has found Ellie. Start with extreme sadness (I know you cried the first time) and end with happiness. This game should just stay as a single game. No new The last of us. The story that was to be told have been told. You should never try to tell more stories about someone or something when you have finished the story. It would be like making a new Lords of the rings where Frodo comes back to nuke Mordor. The last of us is one of my favorite game of all times. I really love it. But a new game wouldn't be as good. I hope I have made my point as clear as I can./inlajnsGnome King

Everyone - fucking except for you! So don't tell me that I would be safer with someone else because the truth is I'd just be more scared! Joel: You're right. You're not my daughter and I sure as hell ain't your dad. And we are going a separate ways.
Thinking back to the hospital scene where Joel's carrying Ellie, trying to escape the soldiers. Its almost like when He was running with Sarah and the Infected were chasing them. Thats a true game.
When you get caught, the soldiers hit Joel and they take Ellie out of his arms he goes "No, no! Let go of her! Let go of her!" In desperation, then they knock him to the ground. Then he yells "NO!" Reaching out for her as he is shot in the head multiple times. Fucking sad.
+Shadowfrost Same thing happened to me on my first play through. I got caught and they shot Joel. I thought that was the end of the game. Relieved when it wasn't.
This song carries such a powerful emotional weight. Grief, desperation, hope, sacrifice, and moral ambiguity are all conveyed in this one song. The perfect melody for a broken father making his last stand in order to save the one thing he cares about above all else: his second chance at having a daughter.
This was a tragic ending.... Joel is selfish, betrays what Ellie really wanted and also dooms humanity by eliminating the chances of a cure. Sure, Ellie lives, and Joel gets what he wants, but the gut wrenching thing is that this is not a good ending, there were no good endings in this game.
Oh I get that, I just meant to say that it is still a tragic ending. There is no happy ending on this whole story. We may see it like that only because we see the world through Joel´s eyes, but even so, what he has done... it is all tragic
If The Last Of Us was a movie, it would have been nominated for: Best Picture Best Director (Bruce Straley & Neil Druckmann) Best Original Screenplay (Neil Druckmann) Best Actor in a Leading Role (Troy Baker - Joel) Best Actress in a Leading Role (Ashley Johnson - Ellie) Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Nolan North - David) Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Annie Wersching - Tess) Best Original Score (Gustavo Santaolalla) Best Sound Mixing & Sound Design Best Cinematography Best Editing Best Visual Effects (could be) 12 Academy Awards if i'm right.
Honestly it would've just gone under radar as a generic zombie movie. That or It would get the same treatment that media and critics gave Joker. Either way, I think The Last Of Us worked best as a game. Going through all of the missions personally leaves emotional scenes with a harder impact than most movies can provide, because you've worked hard to get past all of those troubles. So it hurts much more to see these characters suffer through their lives.
@@IronheartvsMiles Could you not maybe comment this on every single thing regarding the show? We get it. You like the game better. But some of us are a fan of the show as well.
@@IronheartvsMilesno doubt about it. Show was alright, but the game had so much more emotion and heartbreak in it. Beautiful done acting and intense scenes. Show was good but it will never live up the devastating game that is The Last of Us.
I broke down when Sarah died on the hands of Joel. Im not a parent yet. Just a college student but one thing for sure about that scene is no parent wants to see their child die. ;-;
Not just you man, not just you. I played the game countless times and I sob every fucking time even with my 'It's just a game, it's just acting, this ain't real, it ain't real. Just a game.' mantra. *starts wailing*
I've listened that song when one of my friends was passed out. Till that time, this piece gives me goosebumps. I could never forget her. Rest in piece "sister".
“I got him in my sights!” “I SAID GET BACK!!!” *gunshots* ...it’s that part that gets me...Joel literally dodged bullets for Ellie...He’ll never let her go...
Ellie: "Swear to me, swear to me that everything you said about the fireflies Is true." Joel: "I swear" Ellie: "Ok" The last of us is one of my favourite games and it's got such a deep story and the graphics are excellent I can't wait for the second one. Ellie: "I'm gonna find, and I'm gonna kill every last one of them..."
I hope Ellie doesn't just go full vengeful murder machine. It's a boring reused plot and once you take all the humanity from someone, the horrors they commit just completely loses impact. Here's hoping.
Jason Darcey yeah if you watch GOT, (Spoilers) Daenerys went that route too in just a few episodes. All that character development for however many seasons seemed like for nothing.
I played the last of us without knowing anything, I was young (way too young) and played through the intro, most amazing thing I had played stuck to mp after that tho. Came back to it about 3 years ago to play on the same ps3 (didn't remember anything) was blown away. Definitely one of the best games I've ever played, only rivalled by red dead redemption 1 and 2, still proably wins story wise. It contains multiple of.my favoutite gaming moments ever, especially the intro, rivaling many of rdr iconic scenes and on par with leaving the vault in fallout 3 for.the first time.
Or when Joel whispered to her when he pulled her off of Dave from the first game "I'm never gonna let anyone else touch you again" to me that was powerful ❤
This moment is insanely strong and emotional. Fuck the fact that there could be a cure created. Never let anything happen to the people you love. Joël couldn't be any more right taking Ellie.
Joel really did save the world that day. A man who has everything taken from him, his daughter, his world as he knew it, his morals, his dignity, his faith in humanity and life itself. But on that day, he proved as someone so jaded, ruthless, cold, and hardened by what his world forced him to become, could open his heart and learn to love again, proving life is more than just surviving the trials it has. He saved his soul, and in turn, restored the soul of the monstrous world itself.
Really beautiful way they reinterpreted this piece as a companion to Joel's bloodbath in the finale episode yet I can't help but feel that it was done so much better when it accompanied Joel carrying Ellie out that hospital in the game. It just works so so good.
@@raifkenedy3 Yeah it's intentional. They're setting him up to be this selfish murderous bad human being before the plot for season 2. If you know, then you know.
Imagine being upset because a sequel set few years later, has actions of the previous main characters catch up to them in a way that's perfectly in line with the tone and thematic elements of the first game. If you expected everything to be fine and dandy after that cliffhanger ending of the first game, you weren't paying attention to the story. I saw the leaks, it actually made me more curious and the amount of leaked information is just not enough to kill the hype, for me personally.
aeon lincoln !!!SPOILER!!!!! You sure about that. You liked that story huh? We weren’t expecting that joel would live but we wanted him to die like a legend. Not getting killed by some random hulk like woman with a golf stick. What the fuck is that shit. And people saying they weren’t even heros. Bitch please we all knew. Who would be a fucking hero in a post apocalyptic world. They were survivors. You gotta kill to live in a world like that. They shouldn’t have connected us with the characters so much in the first game then. I am still trying to be positive but my hype is gone. Reduced the atoms.
Love how HBO used this so well in that scene. Muting the sound, and demonstrating just how this song feels at that particular moment. Some reactors even said this song was so beautiful. What an amazing song, and an amazing composer. Besides the main theme of course, this is my favorite song on this soundtrack....

Henry: [Chuckles.] Shut the hell up. Joel: Dead serious. [Eats a spoonful.] It was Tommy's birthday. That's all he wanted to do is to just-rent two Harley's and drive cross country. Henry: [Sits up.] Ah, man. I could die happy if I could just ride one around the block. [Chuckles.] What was it like? Joel: It was good. Real good [Sets the can down.] Henry: Good? [Looks at Ellie.] Can you believe this guy? C'mon man, gimme details. Describe it. Joel: [Laughs.] Ellie: You know what? You two deserve a little privacy. [Stands up.] Henry: No, no, Ellie, Ellie, this isn't just any regular motorcycle. Okay? You get on that bad boy, you feel that engine. Nothing like it. Ellie: Oh yeah? How would you know? Henry: I've seen it in my dreams... [Sits up and pretends he's riding a motorbike.] Vroom, vroom, vroom...[Laughs.] Ellie: Okay... [Walks off.] [As Ellie exits, an awkward moment of silence lingers in the room between Joel and Henry.] Henry: I don't think anyone from our group is gonna show up. Joel: [Somberly.] Yeah. Henry: Worst part of it all-explaining it to Sam. [Cut to a separate room with Sam.] Ellie: [Enters.] Well, it's safe to say those two have officially bonded. [Walks closer.] What're you doin'? Sam: Taking stock of all the food we found today. Ellie: I see... [Grabs can and reads.] And how are we doing on canned peaches? Sam: [Grabs can from her.] Did Henry send you? Ellie: No. Why would Henry send me? Sam: To make sure I'm not fucking up somehow. Ellie: Pshhh. I'd say we all did pretty good back there-especially you. [Sam gets up out of his chair and walks to the window.] Ellie: Is everything alright? Sam: [Somberly.] Everything's fine. Ellie: [Pauses.] Okay... [Walks off.] Well... have a good night. Sam: [Turns around.] How is it that you're never scared? Ellie: Who says that I'm not? Sam: What are you scared of? Ellie: Let's see... [Playfully.] Scorpions are pretty creepy. [Sam returns to looking out the window.] Ellie: Um... being by myself. [Sam looks at Ellie.] I'm scared of ending up alone. What about you? Sam: Those things out there. [Pauses.] What if the people are still inside? What if they're trapped in there without any control of their body? I'm scared of that happening to me. Ellie: [Confidently.] Okay, first of all, we're a team now. We're gonna help each other out. And second, they might still look like people, but that person is not in there anymore. Sam: Henry says that, "They've moved on." They they're with their families. Like in heaven. Do you think that's true? Ellie: I go back and forth. I mean, I'd like to believe it. Sam: But you don't. Ellie: I guess not. Sam: Yeah... me neither [Turns back around.] Ellie: Oh... [Takes off backpack.] all this serious talk, I almost forgot. [Pulls out toy and puts it on desk.] There. If he doesn't know about it, he can't take it away. [Puts on backpack and walks to the door.] Alright, I'm pooped. I'll see you tomorrow. [Ellie exits the room. Sam walks to the toy, picking it up. After looking at it, he throws it at the floor. He sits back in his chair and rolls up the bottom of his pants, revealing a bite. Cut to Ellie sleeping. It is morning. Joel is standing by the window and Henry is stirring a pot on a stove.] Ellie: [Wakes up. Sniffs then yawns.] Damn. That smells good. Joel: [to Ellie.] Good morning. Ellie: Where's Sam? Henry: I let him sleep in for once. Ellie: Oh. Henry: Well if you want him to join us, you can go wake his ass up. Ellie: Okay. [Walks into Sam's room.] Sam? [Ellie opens the door and sees Sam twitching erratically from behind.] Ellie: [Off-screen.] Sam! Joel: What the hell? [Ellie is pushed out of the room and knocked to the floor with Sam on top of her. He grunts and claws at her, trying to attack her. Henry backs against the wall, gun in hand.] Joel: Shit. He's turnin'! [Grabs gun from bag.] [Henry fires a shot in Joel's direction. Joel falls back.] Henry: That's my fuckin' brother! Ellie: Sam! Joel: Screw it! [Crawls for his gun.] [Henry fires his gun and shoots Sam. Ellie pushes Sam off her and crawls away as he dies.] Ellie: Oh, shit... Joel: [Approaches Ellie.] Ellie? Ellie, are you alright? Ellie: Uh-huh [Panicked.] Oh my god. Henry: Sam? Ellie: Oh no... Henry: [Crying.] Sam... Joel: [Trying to console Henry.] Henry. Ellie, stay there. Henry. Henry: Henry, what have you done? Joel: [Inches slowly.] I'm gonna get that gun from you, okay? Henry: Sa...Sa...Sam [Points gun at Joel.] Joel: [Stops advancing. Puts his hands up.] Whoa. Okay, okay, easy. Henry: It's your fault. Joel: This is nobody's fault, Henry. Henry: It's all your fault! I cried when that happened. I'm an older brother myself and if my brother turned... I'd probably do the same. This game made me the person who I am today and the reason I am so mad at part 2 is because it feels like it's spitting on a masterpiece.
This and Part 2 will always stick with me. Until the day i give my last breath. This franchise will go down in history as one of the best things that ever happened to gaming. Absolute masterpieces. So excited for Part 3, another masterpiece for sure. Im calling it. "No matter what, you keep finding something to fight for." We'll always remember and love you old man...
I finished the game the other day and gosh this game is 10/10, there will be no other game like this one. I’ll do anything to experience this all over again for one final time
I probably would've been pushed over the breaking point of Joel started subconsciously saying things like "I know it hurts, baby, I know. It's okay, Sarah. I got you." even though he's holding Ellie. It would show that his mind is broken. His memories of Sarah have overtaken how he sees Ellie. He's gone crazy, but he loves her so much. And when the soldiers start shooting, one of them grazes his leg, and he limps to the elevator, and he shouts back to them "Get away from my daughter! He bites a pin out of a grenade and throws it out the elevator as it closes.
i played this game again 7 years after beating it. still to this day its such a beautiful game. i remember playing this game in elementary school. im in highschool now, time goes by so fast

There is somewhere in the alternate universe where the last of us 2 became the real masterpiece, with amazing story, and become one of the best game about father and daughter . No golf club of course
Damn... that hit me right in the feels... Why can't another game like this come along... *Also, if you want another game to get attached to and sob your heart out on, play Telltale games' The Walking Dead.
I felt a similar feeling at the end of the first season of TWD. It isn't the same as The Last of Us, i sat a contemplated life for a good while after playing that lol. It doesn't help that i keep coming back and playing it/listening to this music, it gets me into a state of mind where i don't really know what to do with myself. It's a weird feeling. *Also, what exactly do you mean by "What are you on?"
0:55 This part of the song really touches me... It the music plays when Joel reaches the elevator and is relieved to have Ellie safe in his arms. The music really just sets the emotion of the scene. I mean think about it! You all know well that you couldn't let Ellie die after all the adventures she and Joel have been through. Heck, there was no guarantee that'd she cure the world in the first place and she didn't deserve death just for that. Even though she was only with Joel through this entire game's main adventure, she was just as good as Sarah was and she even reminded Joel that Sarah would always remain with him and never be forgotten. This was the best part of the game because it goes to show that after all they've been through, Ellie means Sarah, as well the ENTIRE WORLD to Joel.
Your comment just showed me something I missed. Scene in hospital is a "replay" for Joel. I haven't noticed it before but it's practically THE SAME scene as with Sarah. He carries Ellie like he did with Sarah and he was afraid that it's gonna end like 20 years before - with his "daughter" dead. I think he was kind of insane in that moment. His head mixed memories with things happening "now", in the hospital. Maybe he taught he was rescuing Sarah. He sounded like that at the last hospital sceens. Amazing, deep game.
the song that plays when joel loses sarah and when joel saved ellie. it feels almost like their titles are flipped around, “no escape” for how sarah and joel never got to safety, never able to escape the horror that became their home. “aftermath” for the real human decision joel makes to save ellie the the behalf of the world. he never could _escape_ the grief of losing his daughter, so he saved the only person who had begun to make him feel love and happiness again. the aftermath of joel’s entire journey brought him here. and it’s fucking brilliant.
This song always makes me tear up when I hear it because of the hospital scene (The show and the game). Joel literally didn’t care about his or anyone else’s lives but Ellie’s. He went through so much pain losing his daughter and found a reason to keep on going. Ellie’s innocence gave Joel a reason to keep on going and to have hope. She gave Joel hope that he can recover and that being around the people he loves, make life matter. So he’s going to do whatever he has to do to protect Ellie. I’m writing this while listening to the song 😂

THIS SONG IS IN THE SHOW OMG
The scene of the Hospital 🏥.....
Magnificent
Yes. Unlike the woke trashcan called tlou2
The intro of the title screen to the show is also the exact same as the intro in the game.
This song carries such a powerful emotional weight. Grief, desperation, hope, sacrifice, and moral ambiguity are all conveyed in this one song. The perfect melody for a broken father making his last stand in order to save the one thing he cares about above all else: his second chance at having a daughter.
also his second chance of saving the world, because he already lost his world before which was his daughter sarah
I remember I played through this part of the game crying nonstop because I was almost sure there would be a tragic ending.
Super Casal Xou chills everytime hearing this
dick.
Nem ferrando que encontrei vocês aqui kkkkkkkk
This was a tragic ending.... Joel is selfish, betrays what Ellie really wanted and also dooms humanity by eliminating the chances of a cure. Sure, Ellie lives, and Joel gets what he wants, but the gut wrenching thing is that this is not a good ending, there were no good endings in this game.
Oh I get that, I just meant to say that it is still a tragic ending. There is no happy ending on this whole story. We may see it like that only because we see the world through Joel´s eyes, but even so, what he has done... it is all tragic

This song represents my feelings towards the leaks of the last of us part II
Facts
Whao u must be one of those naughty dogs fanboy who got manipulated by Neil drunkman
i think joel is not dead because if u see the story triler joel comeback and ellie was shocked

Love how HBO used this so well in that scene. Muting the sound, and demonstrating just how this song feels at that particular moment. Some reactors even said this song was so beautiful. What an amazing song, and an amazing composer. Besides the main theme of course, this is my favorite song on this soundtrack....
Joel:*yelling before saying out of breath* Ellie! Stop.
Ellie: * yelling *Don't fucking touch me!
Joel:It's alright, I gotcha...
Ellie: He tried to... * cries *
Joel: * whispers * Oh baby girl...
*inaudible dialouge*
(But read Joel's lips)
Joel: I'll never leave you again, understand?
* Both gets up and leave showing nothing but the blood covered machete stabbed into the floor boards *
Joel:
Ellie: *throws brick* FuCkInG BiTcH
It was actually not in the floor boards, but what was David’s head now chopped up so much that his face is unrecognizable
the machete was in Davids head still
Fuck, this is...man, I remember that scene.
Joel doesn’t say “it’s alright, I gotcha.” He says “It’s okay, it’s me, look, look, it’s me.” (Or some variation of that)

What kinda shit are you smoking thinking that game is sad

It's his chance to get redemption from Sarah dying.
+DikajosPL He even calls Ellie baby girl. Just like he said when Sarah was dyinging.
the song that plays when joel loses sarah and when joel saved ellie.
it feels almost like their titles are flipped around, “no escape” for how sarah and joel never got to safety, never able to escape the horror that became their home.
I actually cried because of how beautiful and sad this sound track is
Ikr it's so emotional
This song always makes me tear up when I hear it because of the hospital scene (The show and the game). Joel literally didn’t care about his or anyone else’s lives but Ellie’s. He went through so much pain losing his daughter and found a reason to keep on going. Ellie’s innocence gave Joel a reason to keep on going and to have hope. She gave Joel hope that he can recover and that being around the people he loves, make life matter. So he’s going to do whatever he has to do to protect Ellie. I’m writing this while listening to the song 😂
I'm just pretending the game ends here

Yeah okay dude. Like this game is even going to age well anyways.
@@stavrosmayakofsky1915 But you're trying to invalidate someone else's opinion. Just stop
@@stavrosmayakofsky1915 Ok, so tell me why you go through the trouble of calling someone else's opinion stupid. Do you want attention? Do you want to belittle others? Idk
@@dalgusmaximus4557 the game did age well lol. This game will go down as one of the most remembered franchises of all time
this game make me crying like a baby...best game i have ever played!!
red dead is in my opinion
Danilo Rohwedder me too, i finished It 2 weeks ago and uff... I cant describe what i felt during this journey, It was worth It, everything me (Joel) did till.the end
How can something so delicate, beautiful and simultaneously heart wrenching be produced by the hands of a human being. Gustavo is simply put, a genius.
Divine inspiration
8 years ago The Last of Us launched one of the best Games ever.
Now you have the garbage excuse of a lazy sequel that achieved as that falsely got achievements that are lies
I'll live happy knowing they never made a sequel, its so good it doesn't even need one
Amen
