Great tips , especially number 5 , I really struggle with that one , even just getting the camera and tripod out when there are lots of people around , cheers
As a first time watcher, great content, strategies to remember too. My number 6 would be "thinking you own the view and getting angry with someone walking through your composition "
👏👏Thank you Ben a great video that really hit the spot especially number 5!!!. I get nervous when other people are around and about when I am shooting I am very critical of my own photos. I once did a course with a guy who looked through some of my photos only to be told that I had a dirty sensor and a lot of noise in the photos. I was gutted. As it turned out the dirty sensor was small birds in flight and the noise was a mix of clouds. It took a long time to get over those criticisms. Anyways I am now starting over again. Your videos are so helpful to me. Enjoyed the chat, thanks for posting.😊
Great tips Ben! To find a motive it’s the hardest part I think. Many times you have to avoid the most obvious to get the little extra in a photograph. For me it is to take your time and try many camera angels before deciding. Fun fact. The word tide comes from the Scandinavia word “tid” which means “time”. It was the Vikings who brought it to England. In Sweden we don’t have to think so much about it because it’s only shift about 20 to 30 cm.
Hey Alan, thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it 😊. GAS is one many of us suffer from! Make sure you join my private ‘On3legs Photography Group’ on Facebook.
Where to focus? Where you want me to look. Metering mode? I don't use the meter. Tides? Here, rise and fall is about 30cm. I used to do a lot of rock hopping, never saw a tidal change that was a problem,. That said, Broome's tadal rise and fall is around ten metres. Tie up too tight, at low tide you can find your boat hanging bow up. Waves? Dad and I were fishing on Bob's Rock. It's about six metres above the water, a pretty sheer drop with another six metres below (I've had a look). It does get rough, then you retreat top a rock further from the ocean, another few metres high, and fish in a different direction. Too rough there, you go home. It was pretty quiet, and then a wave oozed up and over the rock. I grabbed a bag of gear, but Dad's Mitchell 302 reel went over the side. We packed up and went home. I wonder whether it was the end of a tsunami, probably from Indonesia. Mistakes Full cards, empty batteries. Camera not level when it should be.. Missing tripod plate.
You could do worse than spend some times looking at Adam Williams Creative here on RUclips for post processing ideas. Good Location is another myth. If you can't find a decent photograph, you're not looking hard enough.
Great video. Like the informal chat style

Thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed it. It is still nice when people are considerate when they see a photog set up waiting for the right light.
Nikon d850 perfect camera 🔥
The D850 really is a great camera 📷 and still produces great images. Thanks for dropping in to leave a message!
@@On3legs I switched from 800 to 850, I am very pleased with the rotary display and wide dynamic range

Interesting facts! Tides here can be 1.5 mtrs from high to low. Thanks for watching.
Great to see you back. Great tips. I think my biggest failing is GAS, but I am trying to reduce the amount of gear I have. - Alan
