The tool cost is keeping me awake at night.

As perfect as that is, there's something awesome about a resin infused part done by hand..... And not to split hairs but something tells me that guy sanding carbon at the end without a dust mask was breaking BMW's rules on safety.

Simply the best, this guys do awesome job, here you go that’s why decent people prefers German manufacturing then Chinese, including chines people themselves.

Oh that young kid given the simple job of sanding carbon fibre without a filter mask won't be around to see his grandkids. This is a sick series of videos.

You cant know if you get the same results, microscopic imperfections can be catastropyc failure, look some chinese carbon products from aliexpress

Too many processes just to create one roof. Waste of man power, cost too much, IMO.

Very limited real benefit over aluminium, just drawbacks, in a skmall crash aluminium just bends, while carbon fiber shatters and whole car becomes completely ruined and unrepairable while aluminium would require a light repairing. One thing is clear, carbon fiber is crazy profitable for BMW, not only because of huge margins, but also because of unrepairability of carbon construction while comparably damaged metal constuction is easily repaired.

+Roberto Pescatore No, carbon fiber has significant advantages in both strength and weight over aluminum. Carbon fiber can be repaired as easily as fiberglass or aluminum for that matter (It only takes different repair methods not all body shops are adept at performing yet). If the carbon fiber part is damaged severely, to the same extent an aluminium one is, both could be repaired, but in both cases it would be replaced because labor repair costs exceeding the cost of a new part. The main disadvantage is production cost and the part is currently higher due to it being more time consuming to produce the same part in carbon fiber. The clear advantage is carbon fibers much greater strength and far lower weight. Time to get out of the dark ages to endorse and embrace change and new better technology now in its infancy.

Roberto Pescatore 3:55 is the trimmed carbon fibre reused/recycled?

Well carbon fibers can be easily recyclable on one hand. On the other hand it may be even more profitable to reuse it and drive prices down.
