Piraiba catfishing in Suriname Part 1

  • Gary Newman and friends travel to Suriname, South America, in pursuit of the mighty piraiba catfish (or lau lau as it is known locally) and spend a month in the jungle targeting it on three different rivers. The soundtrack is from Psychadelik Pedestrian.

    Great stuff Gary wild fish in a stunning location : ) Got the piraiba on the list, just need to wean myself off those GT's ! Are you using a DSLR for filming ? Cheers Stuart

      Thanks Stuart, yes just using my Canon EOS 5D MKIII at the moment, which is very limited due to no auto focus once you start filming. If i get into more I'll look at getting a proper video camera. The only good thing with the SLR is the quality of the lens I have as they're all L Series and offer a good range from close ups right up to my 400 mm one.       Cheers Gary thanks for that. Thinking of going for the Canon 70D which has the auto focus, just love the nice depth of field you can get with DSLR and a nice lens. Keep up the good work ! Cheers Stuart

    Hey Gary nice video, wanted to know how you planned the fish trip. Is there a local company who organize these trips ?
