Medea Sirkas has inspired a number of dance crews (i.e. Jabbawockeez) that inspire the younger generation today. if it wasnt for these guys, young cats like myself wouldnt have been dancing. SOO CREATIVE. they simply redefined dance as a whole. mad props to these guys
I didn't grow up in the Bay area but these guys and the New York City Breakers was huge inspirations to the dance group I performed in.Timeless choregraphy! Excellent execution! These guys was the heat back in the day! There would be no Jabbawockeez if it wasn't for these guys! Thanks for posting!
man, way back that was what we had to do and look forward to. Antrons, Neutrons, Criminons, Most Wanted....to name the few that come immediately to mind. There was a guy saying he was going to do a movie to document Richmond's history in this dance form. Thanks for sharing. Rest In Peace-alot of em....
I saw them waaay back when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I was 10 years old at the Creative Arts building in Pittsburg CA. I was absolutely floored with theyre routine….beyond words. I NEVER forgot there name too. They tore down the house….500 screaming pop-locking fans losing they mindz. Great memories guys, thank you!
Went to every June teenth Festival in SF back in the day just to see these cats and to this day when i see this its still like the first time but aint nothin like seeing it in person especially when they were in the hieght of they lives. Bay Way 8 minutes and some of this struttin dominoeing routine Flawless. Many many hours of practice and commitment this is what comes of it .........perfection. take a second look and see if anyone messed up Hell naw....peace
This has got to be demon's sickest routine. Conceptually, goddamn. The cold thing is, you dudes HAD to do it like that cuz the competitiion was so sick. Thanks for this. Keep posting, keep speaking on the history, keep struttin'/boogin'/poppin' whatever these youngsters wanna call it.
Oh Shit!!! This gave me goose bumps these where the best times of my child hood. I new some one had to have some footage of how we use to do it in Frisco back in the day. I was just a young maskout for a strut in crew out of Sunnydale projects. I remember going to Fillmore getting our custom tailored red suits with glitter stripes, lighted goggles, spray painted silver hairnets & top hats, white with glitter gloves, Stan Smith tennis shos with fat red stripe shoe laces.
We use to post right under the fisherman wharf sign to do are thang or sometimes go down town and plug in our radio in the back of Macy's outlet when we ran out of battery's and strut we used to practice hard to be on point with our routines you people barely started seeing and recognizing shit like this in the 90's man growing up in Frisco the 80's was the shit.
I was part of these guys younger group, little demons of the mind, than we became freakazoid robots than time travelers, Hey aaron/melvin its me Martin from turkwood in 82, I danced with Johnny and Winston
The days back then was real and people and children had pride and purpose. We had things to do in the community for the kids. And the kids participated. Yeah drugs was here but this type of skill and activity kept it at bay. It's not untill it was taken away because of fighting and violence took over that drugs began to fill our children's minds. I loved this time
Ralph from the Criminons now goes by Plik Plok. He got a group called the Richmond Robots. You can find them on RUclips. Boogaloo Dana is still active. With Medea Sirkas...
Pop Tart, Boogaloo Dana, Fayzo, and ? I want to know who each member was...dope performance. I saw this for the first time back 2004, still just as impressed with it. Ahead of their time in choreo ideas.
good times, I remember going to the wharf to dance 30 years ago! Dam im old. I have several old videos i just uploaded to youtube on my page, after seeing this video i figured it should be saved for the future.
I just realized that song in the back is Yes, Yes, Yes by Uncle Jamms Army, sped up. I remember all the strutters back in the day sped up the music in SF.
@CrowdPleeza certain beats per min are better for speedy movements or certain routines... same reason why some songs are sped up in poppin competitions....
@@theyoungcommander to bad we couldnt make money like they do nowadays. On RUclips getting famous. Maybe that would have kept us from going out ass backwards.
Back then thats how it was to get that popping sound for dancing. Man, I remember "Mind of Matter" by the Isley brothers or Fatback - Backstrokin' / Gotta Get My Hands On Some (Money) or Ray Parker Jr & Raydio - For Those Who Like To Groove
The evolution of the Mind .....turned into Media Circus is the best choreographed and talented individual Dance group EVER!!!
