Strange... I own a similar car of the year 2000 and i manage to clock 220Km/h on the speedo every time on levelled road. No mods, just a simple K&N air filter. It´s a great little car! Never gave me problems, just some annoying rattles!
Michael Bodin You have the video here: -> www.dropbox.com/s/vth7j3q9zllzq3m/2015-08-16%2018.06.20.mp4?dl=0 I didn't reach the 220km/h mark because the road was sligthly uphill and had the trunk full, but i can assure you, the car hits the rev limiter on 5th gear near 6900rpm, with the speedometer a little over 220km/h. About the real gps speed i have on the link a screenshot of sygic GPS app i have on my phone showing 212 km/h. www.dropbox.com/s/072u82t17vu2kp8/2015-08-16%2019.37.50.png?dl=0 The car is STOCK except the air filter which i use a K&N (without induction kit). 15 years old and never ever let me down! Always started, and never gave me problems.
Michael Bodin no it's not! It's just a Ford Puma 1.7 :) I reckon with better gasoline (98 octanes instead of 95 i was using) and a little bit more of tire pressure, the car reaches the rev limiter with ease. At those speeds, the car is just planted on the tarmac, so you can corner with confidence but gas milleage is awful... maybe 14L/100kms, while on average highway speeds you can get 7L/100 Kms. Its a great litte car.
I did it too, with a Puma 1.7 125cv, top gps navigator speed: 208km/h but on my counterkm was nearly 220km/h.... Great, and lovely car! Then, i owned a Puma 1.4 90cv too.. Top speed from gps was 193km/h and on the car was 205km/h.
Yes, it is mod-board computer. There are about 10 functions. The fuel consumption but there is not. On youtube you can find instructions on how to run it...
Just count the seconds, the indicator starts rising from 0:06 and reaches 100 km/h at 0:13 = between 7 and 7,5 sec. Very fast!! According to the factory 0-100 speed it should be 9 sec. But that's measured with shifts at something around 4000rpm or so. This engine has 16V and variable cam timing, so the higher the rpm , the more this car becomes a little canon. Bought the 1.7 myself , getting it saturday.
Aaaaah gotta love the Puma! Used to have one and planning to buy another one. Great sound in the video! Als pretty good acceleration! Is it stock exhaust or did you mod certain things?
you know i bought an mx3 v6 the other day, and drove my puma to pick it up, the puma blows it away its so small, quick and nimble, will be selling the mx3 soon, i plan buying a v tec crx so i can compare, i had one 3 yrs ago, will be interesting, i remember evo saying the crx was the original puma
@@b.henriques9871 yes its not as nippy or chuckable like the crx, watch old 5th gear with tiff nedell doing the puma tricks, the trouble i had with the pumas was the rusting along the seals and arch
u must catch reset km button, when engine is off. I'll make video. Onboard pc have about ten functions. Fuel consumption not to find - It is good for me.
MrTroll You push and hold the reset button while engine is off. Turn the ignition so the engine starts and continue to hold the button down. After around 10 seconds the display will change to test. Release the button. You have 17 options: * 1.Shows a Gauge Sweep * 2. Shows all 8's on the LCD (LCD TEST) * 3. Illuminates all the bulbs on the dash * 4. Displays hexadecimal value for ROM level * 5. Displays the hexadecimal value for EE level * 6. Shows DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) * 7. Digital Speedometer - mph * 8. Digital Speedometer - kph * 9. N/A * 10. Digital rev counter * 11.Fuel volume * 12. Engine coolant temperature * 13. Battery voltage * 14. ABS fail * 15. Electronic brake distribution (EBD) failure * 16. Illumination * 17. Crank Sense

I remember having a 1.7 puma. It was one of the most fun cars I've owned. Great engine and great car. Wish the new version resembled the old 😪

the car starts moving at 0:04 though, dial won't move till about 15-20kph
This car is crazy!! :D
Nop, at second 6 its going at 20 already. He let it go about second 4. Gives the 8.5/9 second 0-100
Extremely late but I get this car too
I also have a 1.7 stock puma, and I reach the 7k rpm with some ease, beating the 220km/h
do you have yours well "opened"?
How do you open it?
@@drazenbudis7881 I think he removed the restricted on throttle. I have hear something like on a old Fiesta but I am not too sure.

In this video the 0-100 took only 7 secondes to reach 100 km/h. Is this the normal 1.7 Z-tec?
It´s more than 7 seconds I thing :D Yes it´s stock 1.7. Only Supersprint exhaust, and sport air filter. This is nothing.
***** Is it the 125 bhp engine? Can't be, can it?
***** all the puma1.7s zetecs are around 123-125bhp except the racing puma 1.7 which is 155bhp

yes, it´s stock 1.7 puma. 0-100 about 8,5s. From 00:05 to 00:13 in video. officially by data is 9,1s
