Like the Enchantment under the Sea dance runs as a mirror. - The Cubs won the World Series 1 year off of this movie's prediction/
I think you missed the part where in 2015 Marty's mom explained what happened to Marty. He got called chicken for a drag race, and crashed breaking his hand ending his rocker dream.
I got the chance to see this trilogy In the theater in 2015 on the day. When Doc said the date the audience went ballistic and you couldn't hear the film for a bit. It was wonderful getting to see these film's on the big screen.
Also directed by Zemeckis. That's why Charles Fleischer (who voiced Roger Rabbit) had a cameo in this flick as Terry, Biff's mechanic in '55, and clock-tower preservationist 60 years later.
Yeah, I can't think of any other prediction that came so close. There is something which was _sort of_ close. The way that 'all the kids wear their pants like that'. I mean kids don't turn their pockets inside out...but what about that stupid pulling of pants down so that you can see their underwear...wtf is that about.
When this came out, we all had a very strange view of what 30 years in the future would look like. Those quirky ways everybody acted in “the future” seemed like a reasonable thing at the time, because we had no idea what to expect. It turned out we were all wildly wrong about what 2015 would looks like or be like.
The scene I've always wanted to see is when Doc and Marty first meet. Doc knows that he and Marty are going to go on the greatest set of adventures any humans have ever gone on. How does he act when he meets this kid knowing all that. I think he probably built the giant speaker from the first film knowing Marty would think it's cool as hell. They probably met at the Burger King next to Doc's laboratory. Marty could hear someone blasting Wagner louder than anything he'd ever heard and had to check it out. Doc was all too ready to talk some science to this young man, having waited for thirty years to see him again.
The reason for older Marty's characterization is explained in this movie. He had an accident while street-racing and messed up hiss hand, so he couldn't play guitar anymore. His dreams of being a musician were shot, and his character entered a decline.
They filmed Part II and Part III so close together. They only had a three week break between wrapping principal photography on Part II and starting principal photography on Part III.
Supposedly, Zemeckis was left exhausted by the shooting schedule. He'd be filming Part III, then fly off to the editor's studio because they were editing Part II at the same time.
Yeah, but Zemeckis also knew he was not in a position to complain about it, considering the schedule that Michael J Fox went through on the first one, having to shoot BTTF simultaneously with Family Ties. So he decided to suck it up and just make it happen, and it all worked out for the best.
"Shark still looks fake." That line is a good-natured jab at Steven Spielberg, whom directed _Jaws_ and produced _BTTF_ trilogy. For the record, I thought the shark in _Jaws_ looked fine and was effective.
Spielberg actually didn't like the look of the shark in the original Jaws. That's why it stays hidden until the end, and they used quick takes and extreme close ups to make up for the fact that it was an obvious animatronic.
Before CGI the way they did it was glimpses and shadows that made your imagination run mad. And the soundtrack. The music was usually very subtle and haunting. That's what Spielberg did in Jaws. That's what he learned from directors like Hitchcock. I think it was more the many forgettable sequels that people rejected. I think there were five.
@@kevinramsey417 Which is funny, because he - Billy Zane - went on to play Cal in Titanic and the “save the clock tower” lady from Part 1 was the elderly woman laying on the bed being cradled by her elderly husband just waiting to die as their room flooded with water. RIP Elsa Raven 😢
When they arrives to 2015. Doc says: Oh, "Marty, be careful around that Griff character. He's got a few short circuits in his bionic implants." Thats why he behave like that
Yep, her in that and Mia Sara in Ferris Bueller's Day Off were definitely _transitional_ moments in my life...oh and Geena Davis in Earth Girls Are Easy, particularly the opening scenes.
The reason Griff was behaving in such a strange way in 2015 was explained by Doc right before that scene. He says something like Griff's bionic implants are not functioning, which is why is behaving so erratically.
Back to the Future 3 is probably my favorite of the series. Zemeckis loves to push the boundaries of the technology available to him at the time. Check out the animation insert work he has done in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
In the first film Marty (and similarly also his father) had major insecurity issues about rejection with his reluctance to audition with his band and send demo tapes to record companies.
It's an uncommon fan theory that Doc knew exactly when and how to rescue Marty (on top of the building and in the tunnel) because Marty actually died those times. Doc found out, traveled back in time, and rescued Marty before his death occurred.
That would be wild to have flying cars, but I would never drive them. Marty should have taken the sports almanac…I would. Shan again, you are have the best reactions.
Alternate 1985 Biff’s line “You’re supposed to be in Switzerland” refers to Marty being sent to a Swiss boarding school in the alternate timeline. (The line confused me, until someone had to explain it!)
You ask "do the people in the future have to seem weird...?" ...and the answer is yes, it was intended that way. In precisely the same way that the author of the script for the original film based it on his parents who grew up in 1955 who felt that kids in 1985 act very weird. And let's be honest....many people in 1985 "did" act weird and unnecessarily eccentric or just plain strange. Thus, the author of this script was trying to get across that we who were young in 1985 would precisely see the younger generation of 2015 to be weird and to do stupid things. And guess what? Having seen young people in 2015 for real....they most definitely did stupid things and are very weird and irrational right now.
I was 10 when this movie came out and the future scenes were the coolest part of this film. I totally believed hover boards and flying cars would be a thing by 2015. In retrospect it's pretty silly, and someone just now watching it, 5 years after 2015, I get her viewpoint. There is no way this movie can have the same effect on you when you see it now as opposed to seeing it at release as a kid. It's like watching the Neverending Story as an adult. You simply cannot get the same emotions from an adult as a young kid who is the same age as the kid in the movie.
Truth! And to add to the point, to those who grew up in the 80s the idea of 2000 seemed impossibly far away, to say nothing of 2015. Consider that in 1955 the idea of humans going to space was still completely the realm of science fiction to average people. Sputnik didn't launch until 1957 and Yuri Gagarin didn't go into space until '61. So while their vision of 2015 was way off and over the top it really makes a kind of sense if you look at how crazy 1985 would look to a transplant from 1955.
Everything is completely different. But I don't worry about it. I have absolutely no frickin idea what the kids are on about, listen to and all that. Nor should I. My parents used to say all that stupid judgemental stuff about us in 1985. But it's what I grew up with. I don't put down the kids today. I don't pretend to be one, but I respect them and I listen. Most of them are smart and just have to figure it out for themselves. Too many fogies running things. Hoarding Everything. Anal retentive geezers living on Atlantis.
@@rjonboy7608 Respect must be earned, if you grant it automatically...it has no value. Also....I would most definitely not say that "most" children today are smart; they demonstrate the opposite in every venue.

BTTF II and Ghostbusters II both came out in 1989, and had a very cartoony feel compared to the more serious tone of the originals. I think it was because cartoons, kids programming and toys based on movies were more common by then. This made movies in the late 80s take a more family friendly tone.
In-between the original and this sequel, Robert Zemeckis made Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Hence, it wouldn't surprise me if he got used to cartoony characters. BTW, you should react to that film if you haven't seen it already.

If I remember correctly, in a talk on one of the BTTF blurays, either Zemeckis or Gale said they don’t like depicting the future in movies since you’ll always be wrong, so they leaned in on the silliness
I find it kinda sad that they didn't do a semi-reboot where Doc's sons return to 2015 only to discover that Marty has disappeared (because you'd need to limit MJF's screen time) and Doc doesn't remember him (and maybe he's a bit of a mess due to not having Marty there to assist) so they have to go back in time to 1985 to correct the problem. Use clips from the original and Part II with minimal interaction between Doc's sons and people in 1985 (though you could probably do quite a lot with deepfakes and good voice acting, though I don't think deep fakes were very advanced way back in 2015, six years ago).
Another comment: I don't know if you've seen Avengers Endgame, but the writers of that *clearly* took inspiration from BTTF 2. They had the characters revisit scenes from past movies, showing previous events from new points of view (and triggering nostalgia for the audience in the process). Also, in both movies the characters were after a Macguffin. (A magic cube, vs a sports almanac) And in both movies the main characters nearly succeed in attaining it, only to lose it when a character from the past (Hulk vs 1955 Marty) opens a door too violently, knocking the Macguffin away.
When I saw BTTF 2 in the theater, they actually played that BTTF 3 teaser at the end of the movie, so we basically all lost our shit. It was fairly known that they were filming both of the movies simultaneously, but we didn't expect to get to see scenes from part 3 so soon.
They kind of gave us a window into that “ over the top “ future when they introduced the addition of “Mr. Fusion” on the back of the DeLorean in the first film. A joke on the Mr. coffee brand coffee machines from the 80’s. So that over the top future kinda made sense to me. I remember those old Java makers so when I saw Mr. fusion back then I thought that was wild. In this movie they really show you the possible paradoxes that can happen when fiddling with time. And the series really needed that considering it’s not the first time travel story but it’s one of the main time travel stories we all remember. Oh and ~no spoilers~ you find out more about the chicken thing and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it.
It took me years before realizing the significance of the 99 shape the fire trail made was actually just the result of the DeLorean spinning on it's axis upon being struck by lightning, which is how it achieve 88 mph.

There are many things BTTF 2 almost perfectly predicted would happen by 2015. Flat screen tvs, biometric and voice controlled devices, 80s nostalgia themed restaurants, hover boards and flying cars do technically exist, but not in the same context of the movie. While the Cubs did make it to the pennant in 2015, they did not win the World Series. The following year they finally won the World Series ending their 108 year long loss. It really is amazing just how close this movie was to accurately predicting events of 2015. Fun Fact "Jaws 19" credits Max Spielberg as the director of the movie. He is the real son of Steven Spielberg. A plush doll of Rodger Rabbit can be seen in the 80s store display above the tv. Robert Zemeckis also directed "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit"

He also had only done any blocking and lying about Glover after he got sued for doing something illegal in using Glover's face, plus the trivial confirms it so it's not really anymore complex than that. There's always two sides to every story but here clearly Glover was the one right legally. As for him bashing parts of the movie, that's Glover's right it's called freedom of speech man.

Fun Fact(s)
- Biffs car in 1955 has a rear view mirror in scenes where it is convenient and it is absent in scenes where it mucks up the plot.
- Movie 2 and 3 were written and filmed at the same time.
- The timeframe for 1955 from movie 1 and 1955 from movie two are synced up in length of the overlapping scenes. Like the Enchantment under the Sea dance runs as a mirror.
- The Cubs won the World Series 1 year off of this movie's prediction/
"Marty, You're acting like you haven't seen me in a week"
I've never seen you before in my life.
I think you missed the part where in 2015 Marty's mom explained what happened to Marty. He got called chicken for a drag race, and crashed breaking his hand ending his rocker dream.
I heard that! But cut it out, he hurt his hand and couldn’t be a musician anymore. I just secretly wanted this 2015 to not be real :(
I got the chance to see this trilogy In the theater in 2015 on the day. When Doc said the date the audience went ballistic and you couldn't hear the film for a bit. It was wonderful getting to see these film's on the big screen.
Thanks for this reaction👍 ! I hope You watch "Who framed Roger Rabbit" too !
YES ! PLEASE !
The man in 2015, that says that he wishes he could go back and put some money on the Cubbies, is the voice of Roger Rabbit himself, Charles Fleischer.
Also directed by Zemeckis. That's why Charles Fleischer (who voiced Roger Rabbit) had a cameo in this flick as Terry, Biff's mechanic in '55, and clock-tower preservationist 60 years later.
Yes I love Roger Rabbit!
Why does everyone love Roger Rabbit so much?
They were only a year off the Cubs winning the World Series, that's about as close to reality they got about 2015.
It's pretty impressive, considering the last time they won before that was 1908.
And OMG, what a great World Series! Epic.

Actually not that wrong. The streets are full of "tweakers" who act even worse than that.
His dreams of being a musician were shot, and his character entered a decline.
he didn't have a accident he got into a accident and hit a car that pulled out in front of him which you see at the end of part 3

They filmed Part II and Part III so close together. They only had a three week break between wrapping principal photography on Part II and starting principal photography on Part III.
Made sense. I would’ve even believed they shot simultaneously like the Harry Potter part I part II films
Back to the Future 3 came out in theaters only 6 months later. It was an awesome conclusion to the trilogy.
@@ShanelleRiccio yes of lord of the rings
Griff had bionic implants, so he was also probably all hopped up on futuristic stimulants of some sort.
Griff was wild because his bionic implants were malfunctioning. Doc says it and it says so in the newspaper.
"Shark still looks fake."
That line is a good-natured jab at Steven Spielberg, whom directed _Jaws_ and produced _BTTF_ trilogy. For the record, I thought the shark in _Jaws_ looked fine and was effective.
Spielberg actually didn't like the look of the shark in the original Jaws. That's why it stays hidden until the end, and they used quick takes and extreme close ups to make up for the fact that it was an obvious animatronic.
did you see the real shooting star in jaws
Also it's funny because, as fake as the shark looks, it still scares the hell out of people, just like it did Marty.
Spielberg figured he would get Ron and Valerie Taylor to get a Great White to do a few tricks on cue, they told him, no, it doesn't work that way. :)
Needles is played by Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea (he also played one of the German kidnappers in The Big Lebowski).
He was in a fun movie with Jon Cryer & Daniel Roebuck, called "Dudes."
And don't forget one of Biff's goons is played by Billy Zane.
@@kevinramsey417 Which is funny, because he - Billy Zane - went on to play Cal in Titanic and the “save the clock tower” lady from Part 1 was the elderly woman laying on the bed being cradled by her elderly husband just waiting to die as their room flooded with water.

I thought Marty's character flaw should be his tardiness, Which Doc helps him with. He's always late for school and more life threatening things.
but he changed himself by changing his father and mother,
Yeah, the whole chicken thing? Total ass-pull by the screenwriter.
In the first film Marty (and similarly also his father) had major insecurity issues about rejection with his reluctance to audition with his band and send demo tapes to record companies.
that was part of the marketing. "He was never in time for his classes...for his dinner...and then day, he wasn't in his time at all!"
@@anothermonday5664 Ohh, that's so cute!~
The scene where Marty comes running towards Doc at the end of this movie is my favorite scene in the entire trilogy. Goosebumps everytime.
It's an uncommon fan theory that Doc knew exactly when and how to rescue Marty (on top of the building and in the tunnel) because Marty actually died those times. Doc found out, traveled back in time, and rescued Marty before his death occurred.
They should have actually done something like this. It would have given the movie some actual stakes.
Part 3 will clear up all your questions. I hear you though...I was confused when I first saw part 2 as well. Another fun reaction. Keep it up!
I was just a kid in 85, but I fully expected the 2000s to look way different
_"Seems like they deliberately set up part 3."_
Exactly! Parts 2 and 3 were written and filmed as if they were one movie, thus the trailer for part 3 and the end of this movie.

I liked that they won against Miami in the movie. (The assumption back in the late 1980s was that Miami would get an _American_ League team, rather than the National League Marlins they ended up with. This was also why the Cleveland Indians' owner in _Major League_ claims that Miami is interested in having the team move there.)

Luke Great movie!
It's a great multiple genre movie. And the success of that green lit the original BTTF, which was turned down by every studio in town before then.

I wake up from a nap, and here we are 5 years into "the future."
Imagine another BTTF sequel where the protagonists travel _back_ in time to 2015.
Use clips from the original and Part II with minimal interaction between Doc's sons and people in 1985 (though you could probably do quite a lot with deepfakes and good voice acting, though I don't think deep fakes were very advanced way back in 2015, six years ago).
or a horror movie where they go to 2020
Another comment: I don't know if you've seen Avengers Endgame, but the writers of that *clearly* took inspiration from BTTF 2.
Yes, plus Alan Silvestri also composed The Avengers music score.
