My friend once met Matt Berry in a night club and kept saying "You look so much like Matt Berry." Matt kept saying "That's because I am Matt Berry" My drunken friend wouldn't believe him but Matt was so patient with him. Quality bloke.
@@mikeyyates5377that’s not his real voice! he sounds a lot less intense when he’s not playing anyone and that probably messed the drunken friend up more haha! they were probably like it can’t be Matt bcs it doesn’t sound like him
Thats so awesome! Not sure why but Matt always struck me as maybe someone who wouldnt be a lot of fun to meet. haha This makes me like him more though!
This is just so quality. It's awesome seeing the "real" Matt Berry after all the officious and self-important characters he plays like Toast and Douglas, it's so great to see who he is under all the comedy bluster
Matt Berry has some outlandish imagination. I love his Acid Jazz roots in his surreal almost operatic classical rock.. very neat. Yes, we can all hear you Clem Fandango!
Isn't it better that only so many of us know how talented he is? :) I love his music a lot, I've a long story with his music going back 10 years.... & I recall clearly watching him on TV back in 2004 & from there I had my first media job 2 years later & he walked past me! I didn't get to meet him, until last year, after his gig at Kentish Town Forum :) & then, I got to meet him again after his gig at the end of 2015, same venue :) He's a sweetheart, he knows his music , its a slightly different planet, weird & wonderful :)
Lyrics One by one I wave them good bye Engineered to leave myself alone You and me Were great But it's over And the sea it shines before it dries And here we go Again But I'm sober And I've seen my whole life sailing by alone Here we are My hair, it fell out One by one And I leave everything to You and me Were great But it's over And the sea it shines before it dries And here we go Again But I'm sober And I've seen my whole life sailing by alone You and me Were great But it's over And the sea it shines before it dries And here we go Again But I'm sober And I've seen my whole life sailing by alone
Love the vintage amp and compression on this, you could almost smell the valves warming up. Great track and the engineering on it is so good, well done. Beats the crispness and falseness of modern recordings.
I looked up this site by recommendation from a viewer of a 60's classic on You-tube (I don't normally wallow in nostalgia; just sometimes), & I thought 'that CAN'T be the guy from the IT Crowd - no way', but he LOOKs like him. ..and then I read below that it IS. That is insane, that this same guy played the INSANE guy on that series. Agreed, how versatile is this guy..

The intro put me in mind of The Tomorrow People. Worlds of nostalgia and the present colliding beautifully. Nicely done sir. I enjoyed the music and aerial video eeeeeeeemenseeelyyyyyyyyy! Bravo
I don't read the lyrics like that at all, he is reminiscing a lost love. He either meets the girl (or it's in his head) and they are reconsidering the relationship (Here we are again.) However, he is 'sober,' now as in he has lived other lives, the relationship was in past and they cannot recapture that after events that have passed. Anyone who has been in love know it's like being drunk, a beautiful mirage. You and me Were great But it's over And the sea it shines before it dries And here we go Again But I'm sober And I've seen my whole life sailing by alone

Your friend didn't notice it was weird he had the same SUPER distinctive voice? haha
He should have stood right behind him and gone “and shazam!”

Matt Berry is possibly the most talented versatile entertainer that ever lived :-)

OMGGGG I LOVE MATT BERRY SO MUCH I THINK IM HIS #1 FAN I LISTEN TO HIM EVERYDAY!!!! ALL DAY!!!!!
I love his work too. Very happy to have found one of his biggest fans. We're totally justified to believe in him like this.
Yeah, I don't see how Matt Berry is not ginormous. It's some of the most perfect songwriting I have ever heard.
Shh, we don't want him poached by Hollywood.
@@frankshailes3205 it might be too late....
From a pure songwriting perspective this is genuinely perfect. The structure could be studied in a classroom, man's a consummate professional.

Its impossible for me to not like Matt Berry. He's just an air of class about him.
Matt berry is a hard guy to read honestly, pure talent

He should perform this in Newww York Citayyy.
I will always buy Matt Berry's records as long as he makes them. Each one is a master piece. Worth the shipping to Japan to hear his genius.
Hey another Japan living matt berry fan so sad I prob won't get a chance to see live ;(
@@vulgarshudder Sadly understood. would love to do it, but living and working here full time i have accepted it wont happen.
New LP out this month!!!

You know, I've never looked in this drawer... Wow. Lovely music.
I’ve been listening to all his stuffs recently and damn I wish he had more recognition for his music. Truly gorgeous
My thoughts exactly. ❤
Love when the music he does features his voice (rather than it being drowned in instruments). His voice is brilliant!
Dang, does this dude have no bounds to his talents!
what we do in the shadows got me here
Matt's music is criminally under-noticed.
Matt Berry is a gat-dang genius. A genius.
Seriously more people need to appreciate Matt Berry. All his albums are terrific and he’s an incredible comedian and person. I just love him.
Do these songs appear in any of his shows. Sounds familiar
@@MonstrousMediauka lot of his songs have variants in Toast of London that he makes new lyrics for

I really appreciate most of what he's involved with. I wish him more exposure.
His TV series "Toast of London" Integrates some of his songs, so we can hope :)
0:55 love that little chord progression
This is almost as good as The Empty Room. I’m hooked.

This sounds like an ending to a good 80's cop drama or spy flick... love it

Everything about this is fantastic. With a wonderful bass line incredible music and effects. Was that baby Colin Robinson at around the 2 minute mark?

Good day... What kinda pants are you wearing I SAID GOOD DAY
I still can't believe my first exposure to Matt Berry was as the Worms Revolution narrator.
Awesome example of Gmajor Neutral 0 progression.
lol! nice reference
Without this song, there would be no pop music, dancing or magazines.
I'm fully convinced this legend could impersonate any human on the planet.
I could get into this, lots of different influences there, full of tongue and cheek and best of all it's real 😆 bollocks to autotune!
He’s a genius
come to Belfast Matt!
It really hits when he says he's sober. He's always had whiskey and now he isn't drinking.

BK BK yes I know but I’m a falconer and just trying to ID the species. Wish I could get a decent look at it it’s going to drive me mad

I honestly thought this was going to be a cover of the theme of the 80's TV series of the same name....
Sounds like something Neil Diamond would sing.
