That pop of colour makes such a huge difference. Perhaps it would ruin the aesthetic, but would love to a version with applied indices too. Always felt the standard 104s were too monochrome and flat. But still a fantastic piece, and still great value.
I bought a 556A 6 months ago and the crown action has not been perfect. I’ve resorted to backing the crown off counter clockwise until I feel it seat then screwing it down. It seems to work fine when I do it that way.
Excellent . I've only a 556A myself but it is the very nicest in crown function . A distinctive pleasure to use each time . Quite remarkable . I've a DS-30 which was mostly the opposite with the sub steel but after applying a good bit of silicone grease to the crown threads with it in the stop seconds position and a little break in it is now very much like my Sinn . I do this to all of my crowns just to sure the water rating for the most part but it generally seems to improve crown feel as well . I've also heard of many people simply using waxed dental floss , working it back and forth on the crown threads for the same reason (which is not as messy) with good results but I've never tried it . Very nice watch .
I recently purchased a 104 and a 103 with the exact same awful crown operation issue that you experienced so I returned both of the watches. I now have a white 104 which is improved but by no means perfect. The current 104 was also running at +13s/d which has now been regulated. When compared to my Christopher Ward watches the crown operation of the 103/104’s is poor.
Great video and cool watch. My 856i is a limited production so not numbered individually, wonder how many were actually made. It's snowing here today as well, but lots of "warmer" days in-between for some melt off. Hopefully snow will be gone soon and mud dries up so outdoor hiking season can get in full swing...cheers from the Maritimes...
The Sinn 104 is good at many things, but exceptional in one area in particular, and that is how highly visible the actual TIME is, night or day. Cut through everything else, the actual TIME just pops out. Just like how a Subaru is capable in many ways, but excels in its AWD system, which is the most important basis/platform for what it was made for. By the way, the crown on my 2022 manufactured 104 takes a lot of force to pull out all the way. So much so, that it feels like I'm going to break it. I'll likely send it in for service.
This is not the only video where someone says that the crown is now more difficult to screw down to the closed position. Makes me think that the Panerai Luminor style crown is a better design since i does not need to be threaded.
The mad watch collector's wife commented that the hands of this watch looks like syringes. I think that she is right, it is probably a good watch but I don't like it much. I will spend my money elsewhere, sorry. Nice review though.
Great Review. I love this Sinn 104. I wanna get myself one with a white dial as soon as I graduate college. Only two years to go 😅

Great review and what a lovely watch. The orange splash of colour pops out perfectly with the bead blasted finish of the case.
I agree with the "limited" release aspect. Thank you very much for the great review.
You have such a great taste in watches. Not a bad watch in your collection. Well done!
Thanks for the kind words 🙏

Thanks for your insight into the crown operations for Sinn and Damasko 👍
I’ve used the waxed floss method on a Turtle and it helped a lot. Just don’t go overboard on the floss or you’ll have too much wax.

Having said that the crown operation on my 556i is fine
I'm looking at my first Sinn, cant decide on which 104, really like this one
I have a Sinn 104 I bought about 5 years ago and it has the same crown problem. It has made me hesitate to get the U50 which I love.

Thanks for the feedback 👊
I think having an orange marker on the seconds track behind each of the hour markers would have topped it off.

Hard to beat a Sinn. ❤ Very nice!
I got #17, working perfectly 😎
Nice watch indeed. But for a tool watch I'd go towards the EZM 3
Yeah the EZM would be a great alternative tool watch 👍
Yes its more capable because bead blasting does that to a watch lol.
As opposed to a completely high polished finish, it certainly doesn't hurt 👊
Great watch, but much prefer the original polished.
