- The Caribbean Mystery is a 1945 American film noir mystery film which marked the directorial debut of Robert D. Webb. It is the third film adaptation of the 1933 novel Murder in Trinidad by John W. Vandercook to be produced by 20th Century Fox. Starring James Dunn, Sheila Ryan, and Edward Ryan. the plot finds a Brooklyn detective summoned to a Caribbean island to solve the disappearance of eight geologists who had visited an alligator-infested swamp. The lead role was rewritten especially for Dunn after his successful film comeback in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), also produced by 20th Century Fox.
Plot:
The story begins when Hercule Poirot, taking a break from his usual detective work, visits a luxurious resort in the Caribbean. At the resort, he meets a wide array of characters, including a woman named Miss Violet Marsh, who is wealthy and somewhat mysterious. Soon, Poirot is confronted with a murder. A fellow guest at the hotel, a woman named Mrs. Ferrars, is found dead, apparently having taken poison.
Poirot’s investigation into the woman’s death reveals a web of secrets and hidden motives among the other guests at the resort. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a tangled mess of deception, jealousy, and greed that points to several suspects.

That Was Fabulous! I scour RUclips for these gems from the 1940's and '50's! They are far and away the best movies from Hollywood in my rather vast movie watching experience. Thank You So Much!!!😊
Enjoyed very much, and James Dunn was great. Thanks.
Any movie with Reed Hadley is a must-see.
This version does not involve Hercule Poirot and is not an Agatha. Christie.
