Bruce lee got me to study kung fu in 1973 in chinatown chicago The first time i seen him was in fists of fury and after seeing that movie I had to study . In the process of finding a kung fu school I was turned down by three masters . But finally I met a chinese master in chinatown named wai lun chois that excepted me. And on top of it he was a famous bare knuckle champion of southeast asia in singapore and fought 8 days out of thirteen days pretty amazing .plus my teacher only spoke chinese so I learned by watching and I was excepted in an all chinese school. aong with a few other none chinese .my best friend carl noble irving ;michael ; jay ; jose mendoza .their were a few others . In 1980 I met Guru danny inosanto and in 1980s studied with sifu inosanto a various seminars in chicago all thru 1980s Grand master Wai lun chois was amazing and he studied various kun fu style and was open minded in his teaching and training .I wish Bruce lee could have met Grand master wai lun chois I know their energies would blend Guru dan would agree. .my apartment is dedicated to bruce lee's in las Vegas. I have beenn teaching kung fu since 1975 and still teaching to this day .I changed my school name from Lana kung fu academy opening my first school in 1979 to Create develop and flow academy because of bruce lee making my school non political but free for expression to be create . Bruce lee helped me find my path in martial arts beside my teacher Grand master Wai lun chois and my best friend and student rich lamoureaux that trained me in kali and jkd as well as other arts and guru danny inosanto .I was blessed .I never got to meet bruce lee but I feel I got to know him each and everyday of my life . For his wisdom and his martial energy to succeed .and not limit your self . My teacher said at his 80 the birthday that I was his best student and I said I was just happy to be one of many of his best student he trained thru all the years he taught others .

@@CharlesDamianoBLC I have been a Bruce Lee fan for as long as I remember. I first came across Bruce Lee in Kung Fu Monthly magazine, which I "borrowed" from a friend. I put all the posters on my wall, and didn't want to give them back. Being quite young at the time, I had no idea Bruce was no longer with us. When I found out, I cried my eyes out. I stared at a poster I had of him and couldn't understand how someone so fit and strong could pass away. This is the way of nature I guess. Here today, gone tomorrow. And like him and many, many others, I did not know the difference of the existence of what Gung-fu was. I thought it was the same as kung-fu. I was awk struck of Bruce in the Green Hornet. I did not know at the time that television and real-life fighting are two entirely different things.
I gathered that from my first interest and encounter in Japanese karate (goshin ryu) and Judo. But I felt these people had lost their minds wanting you to punch a red brick covered with a cloth until your two top knuckles were completely destroyed with a callus. (I have manicured surgeon's hands) But I was too light and young for their adult Judo. (that I took up years later w a Judo champion Roy Bashudo)
I later learned why they punched the brick. it is called the one punch theory which is to say they were relying upon this ancient battle regimen that required them to punch through light armour. Those were long gone days during the China Japanese occupation. It has no place anywhere in today's societies or ever in martial arts.
Then I was introduced to taekwondo which is strictly Korean foot fighting like Savate is french foot fighting. I like it but needed hand techniques so I joined Chinese kenpo since I had not heard of wing chun at the time. While training in Kenpo I met my Gung-fu Instructor. He was two years younger than me (I was 18 by then) and he was 16 and had been trained directly under the Grandmaster of the Golden Royal Gung-fu federation. This was Southern China Royal. This was the guy that ordered Bruce Lee and his son dead!
I wrote the first book (in my opinion) on what went down from Southern Chinese martial arts culture and Bruce Lee being not full-blooded Chinese. It is entitled "What (really) happened to Jun Fan Li?" And I am telling you he was a fake martial artist bc he knew no Martial Arts. In fact, he was banned from learning from anyone who knew it in California, Arizona and Vegas. But take it from mee Bruce Lee got beat up all his life after the age of 12. And when he came to California he got beat again and again. He won a fight from a fat Chinese that fell over his own feet.
Jack Man had no right to challenge based upon what he was challenging him for. And that was the elders in the Chinese community (who were Northern China traditional kung-fu Practitioners, but hey were tongs under civil rule for peace bc they did not know gung-fu) rejected Lee for telling them wing chun was gung-fu kung-fu a less effective in a real fight as his wing chun. That is how he got ran out of China. But so was the grandmaster ran out of China. And gung-fu was banned for a while.
That is when a lot of kung-fu (less harmless) systems began to appear. But you only learn Martial arts from the golden Royal gung-fu federation until you know another nationality that knows it from them. That is to say 90% of gung-fu Martial Artists are triads and tongs. Yet my Instructor was taught personally by the grandmaster from the age of 6.
So Bruce had no choice but to go to those who practiced fragmented self-defenses like kung-fu (Northern China) and karate. (other non-Chinese nations that were barred from China through the Boxer's Rebellion) Had it not been for the Rebellion Bruce lee would have lived. But bc he was not full-blooded Chinese and thought Chinese should honor him as a child actor is what really got him killed. But you cannot believe this hype. Movies are not real and everything he did was for the screen.
This is another reason why he was barred from learning bc it was clear once he got to Hollywood that his niche' was on-screen fighting. He never won any boxing championships, never did roof-top fighting or in any gang. Bruce Lee was a momma's boy who failed miserably at home-schooling him from 6-12 years old while he was doing production work instead of going to school.
His mother nicknamed him a Chinese girl ncikname "Lil' Phoenix". So what! Females that get tired of waiting for me to hit it say I have a girly figure. Some can't wait to be tired and say it (at the sauna) when we meet trying to get my attention. But Bruce was not a lover or a fighter. But he was a survivor to a small extent. What I mean by that is he was challenged for wanting to be something in life that others were not willing to accept him as.
But he was the first that Hollywood up the mill ticket to as an actor hero. And he never got to spend it. It was cash to his wife for him being an adulterer. He was also atheist so God hated him. Never has anyone died so terribly with newfound status. Unless they too were in Entertainment which is all about money. And Bruce Lee loved money! People did not know he was not 100% Chinese and had gotten run out of China for that. His disregard of Chinese culture got him evicted for fear of death.
When he leaves China to come to America he completely disrespects martial arts culture belonging to the Chinese if they knew he was so cursed would never have taught him only to denounce him. The Chinese invented Martial Arts. In fact, he had no friends once it got out that he was not full-blooded Chinese in school. That fact alone was reason enough to start a fight with him.
That lead to him being sent away from China with the threat of his life from the 8th Street Junction tiger street gang. But none of this takes away his personal accomplishments when the issue is, what does it profit to gain the whole world and lose his soul? But no one is as good in real life as they are on the screen in some dumb movie. But such is the power of Hollywood to distort the world over. many of them think so from demonstrations and tournament competition.

as well as the 3 forms he talks about Wing Chun has a form using the wooden dummy and 2 weapons forms, long pole and butterfly knives. Bruce lee only learned part of the dummy form and none of the W.C. Weapons

By the way, winding people up to practice martial arts is called bullying

He's arrogant. U can c it quite plainly.
He is not this god. He is not this perfection. Hell, according to some reports, the guy isn't even very good at fighting.
His reputation is myth. As for racism?! Puleeease! Broken record anyone?!

Bruce Lee was vastly overrated, the standard now is so much higher than it was and you can train with many martial artists in the UK that I know about, who are better than he was

Except when you meet him in a dark alley and he finger jabs your eyes, and you never saw it coming.
