  • DEBUNKING A LIE: NOTHING WAS DONE FOR YOLANDA REHAB
To say that “nothing was done” by the past two administrations regarding post-Yolanda recovery programs is not only unfair but is also a big fat lie.
Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has nothing more to prove so maybe, we just let his works do the talking.
    MAYOR RODY IN ACTION
Long before FPRRD hogged the national headlines when he gunned for the presidency in late 2015, he was already one of the unsung heroes of Typhoon Yolanda.
Old footages show how an unknown mayor from Mindanao led the relief efforts to the Visayas right after the super typhoon. Tracing his roots back to Leyte, Digong was one of the first to go to ground zero, seeing the impact of the cyclone’s devastation upon his native land. Davao City Rescue 911 team was there. Truckloads of relief goods donated by the people of Davao were transported to the Visayas right after - even when roads were impassable.
Came 2016 elections, the people of Samar and Leyte did not forget their hero.
    YOLANDA REHAB UNDER FPRRD
Now, when he became the country’s chief executive, FPRRD made sure that post-Yolanda rehabilitation efforts were first priority.
    →On August 12, 2017 the Inter-Agency Task Force-Yolanda was formed. [1]
→ President Rodrigo Duterte Duterte signed Administrative Order 5 creating the inter-agency task force on August 8, 2017.
→IATF-Yolanda was created to implement and monitor the government’s rehabilitation program for areas and individuals affected by super typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
→Despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the rehabilitation of areas devastated by typhoon Yolanda remained the Duterte admin’s top priority.
→In October 2020, 7.4 billion pesos more was added to the Yolanda Rehab program in order to build more than 32,000 housing units in regions affected by the 2013 cyclone. [2]
→ President Duterte extended the term of the Yolanda task force until 2022 and made the housing project a priority even as the country is battling a pandemic. [3]
→On October 22, 2020 a total of 122 houses were turned over to beneficiaries during a virtual ceremony held in Barangay San Isidro in MacArthur, Leyte. It was the 10th virtual turnover of completed housing units for Yolanda survivors. [4]
→As per NHA, 37,414 of the 53,038 housing units for beneficiaries in Eastern Visayas have been completed as of Oct. 12, 2020.
→Nograles said 133,107 of the 195,388 planned housing units for the entire Yolanda corridor have been finished.
→On July 28, 2020 Nograles led the first virtual turnover of 1,831 completed housing units in Cebu province. And as of June 2020, for the target of 20,700 housing units for Cebu, 7,465 units have already been finished and 9,413 units are ongoing construction.
→Then came a continuous string of turnovers of Yolanda Permanent Housing Projects in Region 8, which includes the following areas in Eastern Visayas: OrmocCity (1,419 units), Cabucgayan, Biliran (258 units), Almeria in Biliran (405 units), and Tacloban City (4,193 units).
→On September 16, 2020 a total of 1,000 units were distributed in Basey, Samar, while on September 18, 2020 another distribution of 187 units in Burauen, Leyte took place. [5]
→Based on NHA statistics, as of June 30, 2020, out of 54,508 housing units allocated for Region 8, 35,462 units have been completed and 10,877 are ongoing construction.
→President Duterte has ordered an acceleration in the distribution of these Yolanda Permanent Housing Projects, before his term ended.
→On February 26, 2021 Cabinet Secretary KarloNograles led the turnover of 1,000 housing units to Yolanda survivors.
→The distribution in Tingib Homes, Pandan, Antique was the 25th virtual turnover of housing units, adding to 1,267 completed units already distributed previously in Laua-an.[5]
→A total of 24,493 housing units in different areas of Region VI have been turned over to the beneficiaries(as of Feb. 26, 2021).
→On March 30, 2022 then Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar made a comprehensive report on the Yolanda Rehabilitation Program under the Duterte Administration. On the maiden episode of the Duterte Legacy Podcast, Sec. Andanar highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Duterte administration to rebuild the lives of Typhoon Yolanda-affected families. [6]
So to say that nothing was done during the previous admin is clearly an attempt at discrediting one of the most efficient and well-loved presidents this country has ever had. #RodyRoaDuterte #SalamatPRRD#DutertePaRin
