- Hello and welcome to a new video on Uboat. In this video, we get command of our first uboat designated U-552 as we take her on a new mission to sink enemy shipping in what is known as the Happy Times
No Mods in this Patrol log, running version 2022.1 Patch 10
UBOAT
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
Survival
The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others.
While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help... or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.
Disable unnecessary devices, to keep your accumulators running for longer.
Tell your crew to stay in their bunks to preserve oxygen.
If crew's morale is low - play with them a session of Skat or play music from nearby radio stations, to fortify their hearts.
Kriegsmarine career
During the playthrough you will receive assignments from the Kriegsmarine headquarters. They are never linear and you may receive additional orders during them or face unexpected problems.
Brave completion of assignments from the headquarters is rewarded with additional budget for the unit under your command and with acceptance of your growing reputation as an u-boat's skipper. You will need that, to upgrade your ship and keep up with enemy's technological advances.
Upgrade your boat for the rewarded funds.
Receive additional permissions for the reputation points.
Buy new equipment - new torpedo types, sonar decoys, CO2 absorbers and much more.
Send your officers on special tasks in the headquarters to, among other things, speed up a research of new technologies.
Accurate simulation
Game's simulation elements are very realistic, but that never comes at a cost of gameplay quality. Despite extensive simulation elements, UBOAT can be played like a regular game and complex matters can be learned later to become a better skipper for the commanded unit.
Even small things like the influence of ballast in each compartment on the ship's trim (tilt) or Earth's curvature are faithfully reproduced in the game.
Perfection can be achieved in many ways. Prove your management skills and swiftly assign work to your officers to speed things up. If, on the other hand, you think that if something needs to be done, it's better to do that on your own - sit behind the periscope, hydrophone or 88 mm deck gun and take matters in your own hands!

Would not be surprised if Admiral Karl Dönitz did not personally pin that Knights Cross for sinking the Indomitable.
Could be the man himself
and a Promotion
That's Großadmiral to you peasant.
Heil Dönitz! Think he ever got one?
With consideration that the County-class Cruiser is typically 9,750 tons, and the Indomitable's displacement being 23,000 tons, I'll be using those statistics for the tonnages respectively.
48 ships sent to the bottom, for a total, average tonnage, of 309,873 tons.
14:22 i love how that guy just casually mops the deck while the ship sinks
I usually torpedo the ship with one.. then go along side and get the cargo somtimes they carry treasure.. ore..tea lumber..rubber..and 8.8 shells..
Big time results here! That quick knockout early in the patrol, where there was no time to send out alert messages to other ships/convoys, really set a tone. Better to face the devil himself than these Red Devils on the seas!
Well ....that was a tempting prize to be sure
A fleet aircraft carrier sunk wow!.nice catch kaleut!
Fulmars were the main carrier fighters till the arrival of the Martlets.
3crew,stable platforms but outdated by that time in war
what an exciting episode Taff! wow and coming up at that sweet location to sink the carrier. Thank you.
The pause when he was like wait a second that's a cruiser 🤣
4:18 - RN heard about the infamous Taffenfelder, u-boat scourge of the black pit, so they needed up their escorts to make sure some freighters and tankers get through. 😉
The warships went under water like a stone. Many sailors lost their lives. The British Navy will surely plan a rematch.
Sounds like you're feeling better. Good to hear!
I don'[t think I've ever seen a more savage torpedoing as at the 14 min mark
As always, hope you are well Taff! Appreciate the videos and look forward to the next! Cheers
Those was Fulmar fighters that was on the deck and in the air, I always called them the fighter version of the Battle light bombers since they was both made by Fairey at roughly the same time.
I’ve always thought them as the Hurricane’s dive bombing older brother.
Great episode taff, utterly great and perfect fighting out there. 2 merchants sunk along with a cruiser and an aircraft carrier. Taking out that carrier is going to be the best thing you've done in the series, enemy air operations and dangers are reduced, so you've done yourself and other u boats a great favour. Ever wonder why when you play Atlantic Fleet the Germans go for your carrier immediately? The key target to sink at sea from an enemy task group is the carrier, and you got that bang on. Well done. Excellent work and excellent episode taff, medal well earned. Get the schnapps out tonight and have one on me. 👏 👍
brits had a habit of sending gold bullion to the US as part of the lend lease program which in turn helped the US come out of the depression, they would also send it via small cargo ships surrounded by a exceptionally large escort force like the one you saw at the start of the video.
Amazing that 7 out of 7 torpedoes found their mark against those ships and detonated!! More amazing is that you didn't get a single scratch from the escort response!! Well done!!
Tremendous mission Fantastic to say the least.
This simulation is amazing. Thank you for your videos.😅
Awesome video. I greatly enjoy your slow paced hush talk in which we can still sense the excitement. Popping up so close to the carrier it stood no chance. There should have been more awards given but I guess its just game shortcomings.
Well planned mission, Congrats
Mann the deckgunnnnnn!!!
I love this simulation.
Graphics are fantastic
Nicely done Taff.
Cheers!
Apparently the real-life HMS London was one of the ships involved in the pursuit of the Bismarck in May 1941, but from October 1941 until February 1942, she was in dry-dock on the River Type for repairs to her upper deck and hull, due to the sheer weight of her updated superstructure causing stresses. Maybe, you've caught the London while she was escorting this convoy in before heading to dry dock for her appointment with the ship doctor? Who knows? But you've just changed history!
After her repairs were completed, she was sent on a tour of duty from March - November 1942 escorting the Arctic Convoys, during which time she suffered more cracks to her hull in the heavy North Atlantic seas and had to return to dry dock for another refit in December 1942 - March 1943 which strengthened her hull and updated her radar and added more anti-aircraft guns.
Fairie Fulmar....was a carrier borne aircraft that apparently sucked and crews hated it
The british had the hunt for the Bismarck, now prepare for season 2. The hunt for U-552
Need more of this, loving it so far
Four stacker DD. Received from the USA by the Brits in exchange for bases on Iceland.
Clemson's. Old but reliable.
No bases in the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Iceland was basically invaded and taken over by the US so as to prevent the Germans from doing the same and so having a base to launch Fw 200 patrols right into the black pit (dead zone in the middle of the Atlantic where there could be no air cover from land based patrol planes)
@@ChrisS-fh7zt Thanks for the lesson. I had always heard the bases were on Iceland.
Wow. What detonated on that freighter? You took a chaotic situation and turned it around. Neat.
Great episode Taff!
Wow, blew the bell right off that Trumpet!!! Maybe a bit of overkill with two torpedoes for a steamer (I think she would have gone down with just the one). Then you really poked the British lion in the backside, two RN capital ships in one attack! Yessssss, result! No wonder the military brass bands were giving it some as U-552 sailed back into La Rochelle! That'll be a well deserved spot of shore leave for the crew. Hmmm, do you think there will be any frauleins from Hamburg in the fleshpots of La Rochelle that need saving from dodgy sailors smuggling arms and medical supplies under flags of neutrality? You never know your luck!
Pov your on british carrier and you get hit by torpedo when you head up deck fast awake for sunshine and breakfast
Love this series!
wouldnt it be smartest for the crew of the plane to bail out near the destroyers so they can quickly be picked up?
Well technically that does make sense it's not as simple is you expect if they bail out there's a chance I can get tangled in their parachutes when they hit the water. And even if they do successfully get out there's no guarantee they'll even make it to the boats. I once read about a story where hurricane pilot from a catapult cruiser took off made a water landing after shooting down a focker wolf 200 was never seen again. Honestly since he has no we're good to land his best bet is to circle the convoy until his aircraft is almost out of fuel then try and ditch.
Capital attack captain
Fairy Fulmar carrier borne fighter
Just assume EVERYONE is doing 7 knots..😁
Yup, although I'm surprised the carrier didn't step on the coals when the cruiser was hit. Surely the captain of the carrier would have realised that after the cruiser was sunk, he would have been the next likely target, but he just carried on as if nothing happened!
More than likely your aircraft was a Fairey Barracuda.
If it is a Barracuda, then the developer's timeline is wrong. The first only entered service in 1943.
@@cmsxcb you are correct. Probably a Fulmar then.
I think it is a fulmar, lovely kite
It is so stupid that the game doesnt factor in the vital sinking of and Aircraft carrier.. any sub Captain would have been awarded for that
I gotta say my main issue with downloading this game is the incredible stupidity of the AI. All convoys are at 7 kts? An aircraft carrier launching planes at 7 kts? Then a capital ship in its convoy gets torpedoed. Do they speed up, launch aircraft and turn away? No. They slow down to 4 kts to make an easier target. Total BS
Finally subscribed! I was literally watching Das Boot on Netflix last time you released a u boat vid. Loved the episode where you were knee deep i water and doing repairs. Thank you for doing this
It's been two weeks, are the crew back from their vacation?
