@ Jennifer Schweichler Nope, MARSH rabbit (Sylvilagus palustris) is a different breed. The SWAMP rabbit (Sylvilagus aquaticus) is in fact a subspecies of the standard cottontail. Case in point. As @ Antione Berry stated, it is the largest subspecies of cottontail. In fact, it can grow up 5lbs and I’ve seen some that likely were more given good forage. Whereas the marsh rabbit described in the video you linked barely reach 2.5lbs on average, the narrator even described it as smaller than an Eastern Cottontail.
@@SpokenBroke The rabbit in Jeff's video is not a Swamp Rabbit. He put a domestic rabbit in the water and lied about it. Either that or the animal rehabbers are dumb and can't tell a swamp rabbit from an eastern cottontail from a wild-type colored domestic rabbit.
This is a myth. There are 176 different species of mosquitoes that are native to North America. It's specifically the _Aedes aegypti_ specie of mosquito (the one that carries the Zika virus) that is not native to North America.
I think its a san juan rabbit lol feet aint the right color. tails to big. ears aint shaped right. and its to big to be a cottontail. and was awfully docile lol
@@longbowbanjoAL I think being docile is just in rabbits' nature because they are so high anxiety. edit: makes sense for him to be a bit docile because they said he was part of a rehab program
@@calcifer6142 ive raised many tame and a few wild rabbits. trust me docile aint in a wild rabbits vocabulary lol if you want to know what a swamp rabbit or cottontail looks like go look at my channel.
@@longbowbanjoAL Interesting. I love rabbits and I've done a lot of research on leporids in general but I've never really had close contact with them, partially because they are good at avoiding human contact.
I'm a dumb little 9 year old who saw someone else say that swimming kills rabbits so now I'm here regurgitating that again right now so people will give me a thumbs up
so cute. And so funny how at the end he says, "you can come back now"
Beutiful creature!😍😙 his eyes!!
Sweet little thing~
Finally a video of a bunny in water without people in the comments freaking out about how baaad and daaangerous it is!
That is because Swamp Rabbits can swim since they are used to it, but pet rabbits get hypothermia and could die if they get too wet
Wild rabbits and let rabbits are two separate species. Domesticated rabbits can die if they're soaked in water.
@@JuicedUpLemon I guess that's why I'm constantly tripping over rabbit corpse every time it rains.
@@ShaneBales Well, yeah. Domesticated and wild rabbits are different, right? And there's a difference between rain and soaking a rabbit, right?
@@JuicedUpLemon can I catch a wild rabbit
the swamp rabbit 🐇 is the biggest cottontail rabbit 🐇 in north america 🇺🇸🇻🇮!
Cottontails are a completely different breed

Happy Year of the Water Rabbit!
Nature on PBS just uploaded.... For the first time caught on camera, swamp bunnies are captured using their unique "superpower:" swimming.
Maybe they meant one that was dropped into the water by a person?
@@SpokenBroke The rabbit in Jeff's video is not a Swamp Rabbit. He put a domestic rabbit in the water and lied about it. Either that or the animal rehabbers are dumb and can't tell a swamp rabbit from an eastern cottontail from a wild-type colored domestic rabbit.
He looks like Ryan Reynolds. LOL
Ryan Reynolds owns a football club
Beautiful bunnies 🐰 ❤!
Is this the entire show? If there's more could you provide a link? I'm enthralled!

mr jeff corwin is a smart man!
@Jimmy Carter
shrek rabbit
swim like esther Williams
😮😮😮 ahh!!
I’m sure that’s a cotton tail
That is NOT a swamp rabbit (wrong color). That is a domestic rabbit. Either the rehabber is clueless or Jeff Corwin is big liar.
I have a baby caught in my yard

lol no, domesticated rabbits cannot swim. however, swamp rabbits are designed to swim
Swimming kills _domestic_ rabbits, but this is a wild one.
Killed a bunch when I was a kid and young man with a 20-gauge. They're quick, fast and elusive.
unfortunately the puma could ambush and kill a cotton tail bunny!
