Without the convection, the varying temp / thermal gradient might be a due to the heating element geometry. I never thought of that before about the varying temperature in different parts of the oven. Convection definitely makes it more even heat. Good to know!

Hey Mark! I was really surprised how spot on the convection was over the regular bake cycle. It shows how much better convection works!

Thanks for sharing! I have the same oven, only one. It gets hotter in the back too.

I would trust a digital oven thermometer over a bimetal analog thermometer any day of the week. If you really want to spot check your oven temp I’d use a digital probe thermometer and her you know is calibrated properly

Hi Yoda! Most of the digital oven thermometers are the probe type. You would have to be strategic about where to hang the probe so it wouldn't hit anything. These types just make it easier. It doesn't really have to be exact because ovens cycle on and off so they vary in temp a little. Thanks for watching!

Careful of the calibration rabbit hole! What I learned on my GE was that with the rack in the middle position and the thermometer in the middle (where food would usually be) was right on @ 350. other positions varied a little. my hot spot is the left rear. Same on my Kenmore/Frigidaire, coincidentally.

I appreciate your stand mixer reviews, as they were extremely helpful in deciding my next mixer. Selected was a KA 5.5 bowl lift in Empire Red (at Sams Club). Thank you.

This is too complicated, is this the kitchen in the basement?

It was actually pretty easy. Most ovens don't have the digital option for calibrating. You have to change the dial knob. The KitchenAid was a breeze to adjust. It is an important step in understanding your oven. Thanks for watching!
