Life has been a bit hectic so this video took quite a while to come out, sorry about that. But unfortunately now with uni starting up again, this might become the exception rather than the norm, but while doing these videos is great fun getting my degree seems like a more financially viable option 😅
Episodes are too long. This should have the same content consolidated into half the time. I find myself getting bored between the jokes since they are not that great, so the emptiness between them stings even more than usual in comedy. A perfect comparison is The Fable, which is a low budget and technically horrible anime, but the authors clearly know what they were doing with the lunch money budget they had. It uses pauses, anticipation, building up to often one or two great moments in an episode really well, so even if there are filler and unfunny gags in between, that's also intentional. When the humor finally lands, it hits like a truck in that anime, while in Shikanoko it feels more like your constantly tickled by a burnt-out torturer. That said, Shikanoko has meme potential and rides on that. It's the Goat Simulator of anime that rides on the free publicity it gets.
