- Former Eskom contractor Michael Lomas is expected to land at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg shortly this morning after being extradited from the United Kingdom.
He's wanted in connection with the Kusile Power Station fraud and corruption case.
Lomas was arrested by British police in 2021 at the request of South African authorities and has been on bail of around R.17 million since then.

It is indeed fascinating how, when Black people are accused of a crime, their faces seem to get prime-time treatment in thumbnails. One might wonder if the same level of enthusiasm is applied when white individuals are in similar situations, or if perhaps there is a slight technical glitch that mysteriously associates criminality with Blackness. Surely, such an established broadcaster as the SABC would not allow unconscious bias to creep into their content, would they? Maybe it is time to recheck that thumbnail algorithm, just in case.
