These Dagestani guys learn English fast. Khabib couldn’t speak a lick of English and then started 3 or 4 years ago, now he speaks fluently and easy to understand. Zabit is getting better, a year ago he couldn’t speak it. Now he’s in the begginning stages of learning and massively improving. Islam Is learning well too. These Cossacks pick up anything quicker than most other people from other parts of the world.
Once he said but in russian that he can speak english. He has no problem to discuss something but when he gets in to situation when a lot of people around and cameras - he just forgets all the words. Even speaking russian in an interview he is very shy. With friends he is absolutely normal person.

I'm fairly convinced that freestyling, flow fighters like Zabit, Adesanya, O'Malley, Page, Johnny Walker etc are the future of UFC. Jon Jones has it too, but not sure it's quite the same. Some of them are very technical, but they all seem to have something in common, which is the ability to move instinctually with a physical confidence that probably can't be taught and makes them very unpredictable. I think where other fighters are making mental decisions, it's almost like they are making physical decisions that are informed by training and repetition, but far from bound to it. Like there is less time or no time between thought and action. It will be interesting to see what happens when they start fighting each other, and lots of people are now waiting for those fights. Also interesting to see if more conventional, conservative fighters are able to copy them if it becomes a sort of arms race, or if they figure out ways to nullify that unpredictable dynamic style. We already saw this month that Page is going to be able to be taken down and dry humped to victory by the right guys, but that won't be true of all of them. That is currently by far the most exciting aspect of MMA to me to watch these freestyle prodigies develop and how it is addressed or not. Or they may become more timid and conservative as they get their asses beat one by one by outstanding technical fighters or wrestled into humility by Khabibs and Askrens. Overall, I think it's bringing a lot more excitement and fun fights for fans. I'm excited about it, and we have two of them on this card, Woo hoo!
