I think I finally understand the different gimicks after looking at it for a bit. Shaggy and Matt have their respective instant-kill notes. Bob has his Run jumpscare pop up occasionally on his turn, Zardy makes the notes translucent (partially transparent), and the one that was the hardest for me to pick out was that Tricky damages you upon him hitting a note, similarly to Tabi, but we couldn't just give him the fire notes as 1: this isn't hellclown or expurgation tricky, it's his standard form (although his mask is off), and 2: it just makes him a worse version of Shaggy. Man I ranted on for longer than I wanted.

Well Tricky did actually use fire notes during Madness, and I guess it's possible for him to do so normally in the MC universe. But I personally thing tricky should be Expurgation tricky, giving him distractions.
