Honestly, if the same judges that scored Gane and Volkov had worked this fight, he would have won. I thought he did more damage standing, and actually threatened submissions from the ground. Shavkat had control time, but did nothing with it. I’m actually shocked at how little submission attempts are scored, or at least it should negate the control time no?
@@TheArtofMMA69 I think he very well could. His takedown defense looked exceptional, against one of the more highly touted takedown artists. His submission attempts looked fluid but lacked sophistication; If he legitimately prioritizes his wrestling and jiu jitsu I see no reason he couldn’t take the belt. To be fair Shavkat went in with an injury, allegedly, if that’s not the case he’s going to get smashed by Belal.
