      I probably would have fallen too if I hadn't watched a match prior. It helps a lot to know the opponent's game plan going in XD

    Glad to see how much Advance Wars has really been taking off! Keep it coming!

    Very fun video; I always like to see gimmicky maps and puzzly stuff as a break from normal competitive AW.

      Right? The custom scene needs more love

    its fun watching PVE War room matches as the AI plays completely different. And some maps are incredibly annoying as the AI may have access to more bases than you so you have to rush to expand before you get overrun. this map is a perfect example of it.

    I wonder what rock golem could have done to turn the advantage back in his favor. Save up early for a tank? He can take a few base skips over the other player due to having so many more than them.
    I have no clue though, I'm a novice.

    • @Go7Penguin
      @Go7Penguin  2 года назад +3

      Yeah, I don't know what he can do. Tank first can probably protect some of his cities from my recon pressure a bit. But once player one gets the bases they're no longer in a losing position since now they have two forward bases giving them a reinforcement advantage. So completing those captures is what really puts Rock Golem on the back foot and that's something he can't stop

      @@Go7Penguin yeah, even if he parks it near the bases to try to hold them, a missile or two makes it mech food. Hmm

    So the infantry on mountain only has 40% defense instead of 60% (Sturm’s 20% def and Mountain’s 40% def) if it was on full HP. You learn something new everyday 😎

    • @Go7Penguin
      @Go7Penguin  2 года назад +4

      Yeah only a full health Sturm infantry would have the 60% defense on a mountain. If it has 5 health then it will have 40% since it will get half of what the mountain gives, so 20%, and then the flat 20% from the Sturm power. Really shows how strong the flat defense boost is since for normal defense they 40% at full on the mountain which is 2/3 Sturm's. But, at half health they just have the 20% from the mountain which ends up being 1/2 of what Sturm gets so Sturm's weaker units are much harder to kill than most others because of that flat bonus

      @@Go7Penguin This is also, I suppose, why Grimm is so bad hehe, he always takes more damage, even more so with weaker units

    • @Go7Penguin
      @Go7Penguin  2 года назад +3

      @@raven-a yeah x.x since defense is more powerful than offense he has a real tough time of it. A 5 health infantry on a mountain for him has 0% defense. Very sad 😭

    What is the longest amount of time you took to plan out a turn in fog? Mine is a day xD

    • @Go7Penguin
      @Go7Penguin  2 года назад +6

      I think four days? Although that's not spent constantly calculating. Just little bits here and there while giving myself time to get a fresh perspective

    Wow you beat a guy using the worst CO by using the best CO...

    • @Go7Penguin
      @Go7Penguin  Год назад +2

      That's the idea XD it is more of a puzzle on CO select, since better COs like Hachi and Kantbei failed to win. The best CO for this map was Sturm as you said :D

      Jokes aside, if you look at Flak's match up data - most of his victories occur before day 15. Even a really skilled Flak player who perfectly hedges his bets won't be able to hold a lead into a fully developed late-game. His best shot at success is either an early artillery deathball (minimize counter-damage to preserve luck) or being hyper aggressive on small maps. I can see how this map really tried to play to his strengths. Well played and cool video.
