Sure you may need to do some set up work but you tube is a great reference for learning how. Even if you don't want to be bothered learning setups, you could pay a tech and still come out with a lot of guitar for not a lot of money. Thanks for all you do Jimmy! Continued success!!

As a guy who owns too many and built a few, I'd have to agree. The first amp I ever bought was a Peavey Backstage 30 to go with a used Stratocaster, because the salesman at the music store told me solid state amps are better than tube because of reliability issues. I could never figure out why my sound was so weak, I thought I was just a lousy guitar player (I was young and inexperienced). Then one day I played through a friends Twin Reverb and I was gobsmacked. I still have that Peavey, but now it's an 18 watt amp that I built from scratch in the chassis, and has a Weber Alnico speaker.
I had to go check but I picked up the 15W on 5/21 after the price had jumped to $249 (on sale $227 w/tax) and love it...though I'd love it a little more at $202! Jimmy - would like to see your personal ranking of budget guitars by style (LP, Strat HSS/SSS, Tele and 335). Taking into account sound, feel and overall quality of the parts. I think most budget folks know that some setup will be required, so out of the box playability, fit and finish shouldn’t be a big factor (and we also know that it can really vary depending upon the particular unit that someone receives)
Thanks for watching and commenting mhester99…this is something I have contemplated doing, and did a bit of this in a couple of different videos here on the channel. It’s a bit tough, as my experience may not be yours as like you said, some may need more setup then others and that can vary for the exact same guitar. I got a reply from customer service on the Boardwalk order. the order went through & shipped yesterday, so I should have it ~Tuesday. this was right before the extramile sale, but the Black was already $80 off, so it was within $2 of what you just showed the Red Boardwalk at w/ the coupon code. thanks for getting the word out on this weekend's deals.
I have been waiting for Monoprice to notify me of when the OS40 dlx Jazzmaster comes in. The wait is killing me. After seeing your review I decided that I have to have one. I bought a CNZ one but was not happy especially with the color. Their midnight blue is the same color of my forest green Donner guitar. Ugh. It really wasn't even playable. I did get a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster and I love it.
I know the feeling. I waited what seemed like forever before the Monoprice was finally in stock. I ended up doing something similar after waiting for a year and bought the CV Squier Jazz. They finally became available and I bought the OS40 and eventually the Firefly Jazz as well. Sorry to hear about the CNZ but congrats on the Squier Affinity…enjoy it! Really appreciate your stopping in to the channel, and hope to see you around more! Keep pickin’ 🎸👍
Knocking it out of the park, Jimmy. Let me tell you, if I didn't have a freaking Gibson ES-335, I'd order one of those dang hollow bodies right now! $150? I spend most of that at a steakhouse for dinner and drinks for two!
Hi Jim…thanks for watching and commenting! I have a number of “high end” guitars as well, but honestly have a ton of fun playing and buying these “budget” guitars as the quality has been surprisingly good and you can mod to your hearts desire if you wish. It’s a great way to add to your guitar arsenal and have a variety of different models without breaking the bank! Truly appreciate your stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts and kind comments! Much appreciated! 🎸👍
Instead of the indio tele I decided to go with the no name ebay one and super glad I did. $75 shipped, and it's great. The neck is 100% identical to one on my Kramers, I wonder if it's from the same factory. the pickups were awesome, high output noiseless ceramics. I ended up buying two bodies, on the second I installed brass saddles and alnico pickups. The tuners were actually surprisingly very good, like better than the stock ones on my epiphone, squier and Kramer. The only bad part was the nut, I mean it held tune fine but it was insanely crappy plastic. Swapped in $2 bone nuts from Amazon and now they're set for years to come.
I know its dumb but the real reason I chose this one over the indio is the headstock on the indio is hideous, the one on the no name ebay one is identical to the Kramar VT211. That guitar is amazing also, I got a display model from Guitar Center for $80. Retail is still $130 which is amazing because the paintjob and the pickups look and sound just as well as a made in Mexico strat.
That’s great AlexCorona! Congrats and enjoy it! Yes, the infamous Indio “hook” on the headstock for some is a distraction. It doesn’t really bother me, and I got use to it pretty quick. I understand however not liking it and getting something you can live with. Truly appreciate your stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts! Much appreciated! 🎸👍
Hi Jimmy, that sweet tele type DLX Retro in the cherry burst is on sale for 160 with the code extramile its 136 shipped. I would be ashamed to say how many tele's I own but as you say when on sale buy it. And you can never have too many Tele's!
Hey Dennis! Can’t disagree with you my friend…I just got mine a couple weeks ago…that’s a great price!! “BUY IT” 🤣 Thanks so much for stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts! At about 10 Tele’s now, I am getting CLOSE to having too many…👀🤣

Great video Jimmy!! I love these deals, just found out my neighbor's daughter is taking guitar lessons and I told him about Monoprice for nice beginner guitars!! Thanks again!
I didn’t get this since the 15 was out of stock I’m not a fan of the guitars but fender or Gibson’s are real guitars I got the amp last week and I love it and it blows the F blues jr away my friend has two and I’m hoping I got the newer reverb box and the better tubes I believe I do also Jimmy I’m not a fan of fooling around with tube amps if it sounds great why fool with it ? Great playing and reviews as always I also like Dan and Leo Ryan’s actually that’s how I found you
Bobby…take a look at my “Classic/Vintage” guitar series here on the channel…I have a “few” real guitars 😎 The 15W Monoprice amp is (IMHO) the best value in an all valve small combo out there. Glad you like it…tell the boys from Texas I said “hi”…🎸
If there was ever a time to buy a tube amp, this would be it, and if they're anything like their guitars, it'll be worth the money. I usually like solid state amps, because I don't have to worry about over heating or replacing the tubes, but, you gotta admit, you get a certain sound from a tube amp that solid state amps can't deliver. I might even invest in one, especially with this sale. Thanks for the info, and have a great weekend.
@@mhester99 You are correct, however remember Monoprice had it 1st…😎. Also, remember depending on where you live (US or Europe) can also dictate where you want to buy from. If you buy the Monoprice version, you will get the 110/120V version of the amp for stateside use. If you buy from Thomann, you will pay shipping and also get the 220/240V version. If you are stateside you want the Monoprice and right now the price is right! Thanks so much for stopping in to the channel! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 Good point on voltage! I didn’t know Monoprice had it first I got the Monoprice version in mint condition on eBay for $200 with free shipping. It was the “newer” version with the upgraded tubes (can’t remember the details but I checked)
Really appreciate your stopping in and commenting Chris! They have some very nice budget guitars as well, however the Stage Right 15W amp is killer!! Thanks again for stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts! 🎸👍
The single SF 1x12 Celestion V30 cabinet, that was like $125 (pre-Covid, now $209 and perpetually out of stock), is also a sweet find, if you need a lightweight cabinet with a V30 in it for not much more than the price of the speaker itself. Unfortunately, just checked and it is still out of stock.
@@amandahuginkiss6868 Yeah, actually I have the 2x12 cab version with the V30's in it and yes that was also a great buy on sale ($270) a while back. It is close to the size of a 412 cab so not light weight at all but it has castors and really looks legit. Forgot about that purchase somehow. I have the $100 tele as well that I modded with $400 worth of parts (kinda silly) but the amps/speaker cabs take the cake as far as value and quality IMO.
A well to do friend gave me the Monoprice 15w cabinet w/o the amp part. Still got the Celesion speaker and the reverb tank in it. So I hooked up a jack and bought 1 of those Hotone Mojo Diamond heads (Fender Tweed) to drive the cab. Awesome amp for $60. It's not tube but it's cheaper.
Hi,what was the sunburst indio strat you had on youtube?Awesome looking guitar,i,m looking to buy,i have 3 indio guitars, plan on buying a few more, love em,.Thanks for posting videos.Regards.
Hi Milford…thanks so much for watching and commenting. The guitar I think you are referring to is the Monoprice Indio Cali DLX Plus. The one I got was in the “Cherry Burst” finish. Hi Jimmy, what has been your buying experience from Fire Fly? I was looking at the matte black tele and strat style guitars.I sent them a message, but no replies. Also wondering if they come with a padded gig bag, similiar to what Indio guitars come with.Thanks.
Hi Jimmy, great information as usual from you,I have the 5 W amp already so for this great deal I just picked up the 15w ,I know you are not keeping count but I am now 3 for 3 ...with you..haaa...great job!!
3 for 3 is pretty darn good!! Congrats and enjoy!! This amp is a beast and if you like the 5w you are going to Love this!! Appreciate your stopping in Joe!! 👍🎸
Think I'll buy one of those teles' and rasp it down with the arm, and back side relief like a strat. Should make it a little more comfortable to play, and I usually mod my Monoprice guitars quite a bit anyway. At that price you can up grade the electronics, round the fret ends, a high mass bridge, with roller saddles, add a tusk , or brass nut, have a serious player without a big cash out lay. I been wanting a baritone, might buy another Tele, add a neck, and some fat strings, and see what comes of it. Wonder if it wouldn't sound good with a lipstick neck pickup also? Anyone have any ideas on that?
You are correct…you could mod away without a big cash layout and have a 1 of a kind instrument!! Have fun with whatever you decide Popo… Thanks for stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 have you ever thought about being part of a tech network separate from YT, that is mostly for music and guitar geeks? Hi Alan.. thanks so much for watching and commenting! I just tried this myself, and you are correct. The “EXTRAMILE” code is not applied to this amp. I believe it’s because they have already put this on sale at $192 off from $549.99 to $357.99. Evidently the 35% off is as far as they are going to go. Still a super buy on this rig, but it would have been nice to get that extra 15% for sure!! Appreciate your stopping in and sharing…much appreciated! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 Yes I also found that out. Monoprice has a separate web page showing all of the exclusions. The only exclusion for musical gear is that combo amp. You COULD use it on the head ... but (1) it's a few dollars more because the sale isn't as drastic and more important (2) it's out of stock.
Yep!! Still a very good buy right now @ 35% off for anyone looking for a 50w combo!! Thanks so much for stopping in Louis…appreciate your support and sharing! 🎸👍
Hey Mr. Stewart, I was wondering do you know what brand name is on the Monoprice pups? I know thier ceramic and I like the sound of them. I'm asking about the telecaster style guitar. Thanks.
Hi Paul…thanks for watching and commenting. Unfortunately no, I do not know what Monoprice is using in their Retro Tele for pickups. Even after looking at them, I could not tell. I believe they are a generic Chinese pickup as I could not find any identifiable markings, however I didn’t take them apart either. The one thing though, is that I believe they are made specifically for Monoprice or at least to their specifications as they do list their pickup resistance specs on their page. I also agree, they sound very good for “budget” stock ceramics. In fact, I have not replaced any of the pups on any of my Monoprice guitars…single coils, humbuckers, or P90’s. Thanks again for stopping in to the channel…much appreciated! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 Hey thanks! Awhile back I purchased a Grote telecaster and the pickups in it are good also. I guess I'm more partial to ceramic pickups.

I saw these sales or acbtually heard of them a little earlier in the day and I think it's a really great deal. I'm kind of interested in that red boardwalk.
Jimmy, not related to this video but, do you have a recommendation for a not too flimsy gig bag that will fit a Squire Mustang? Just thought you might know of something. Thanks for all your videos.
Hi Rich! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! There are lots of gig bags you can but that should fit. Depending on how much you want to spend, really! I have a lot of these Monoprice guitars that all come with a decent gig bag and as I rotate guitars for playing, others go into those gig bags (my mustang and offsets fit in those bags as well). I would watch on Amazon and Musicians Friend for their “Stupid Deal Of The Day” as they have soft cases and gig bags on sale from time to time. You could also look on Guitar Fetish to see if they have anything available. Appreciate your stopping in to the channel! 🎸👍

Yep! My pleasure man…thanks so much for the support to the channel! Much appreciated! 🎸👍
Excellent!! Looking forward to you getting it! Good luck, and congrats again! 🎸👍
“BUY IT” 🤣
Thanks so much for stopping in to the channel and sharing your thoughts! At about 10 Tele’s now, I am getting CLOSE to having too many…👀🤣
i have the monoprice 40 watt solidstate amp and its a sweet amp!
even at normal price is below 150!
i need to make some vids on it tho...its a reall nice unit!
great playin as usual my brother!
Thanks so much Mike…always nice having you stop in!! Good opportunity here on these valve amps. Best price I have seen in a long while plus IN STOCK! 🎸👍
You got it, Jimmy. Today I ordered a red Boardwalk for $146 and change. Thanks
Nice!! Congrats on your new Boardwalk! Thanks so much for watching and commenting Capt Rebel…be sure to stop back into the channel and let us know what you think once you receive yours! Great price, and hope you enjoy it! 🎸👍
Great video Jimmy!! I love these deals, just found out my neighbor's daughter is taking guitar lessons and I told him about Monoprice for nice beginner guitars!! Thanks again!
My pleasure Reggie…glad to help, and thanks so much for stopping in to the channel! Much appreciated! 🎸👍
Great playing and reviews as always I also like Dan and Leo Ryan’s actually that’s how I found you
Bobby…take a look at my “Classic/Vintage” guitar series here on the channel…I have a “few” real guitars 😎
The 15W Monoprice amp is (IMHO) the best value in an all valve small combo out there.
You need one!! 😎
Thanks so much for watching and commenting nankypooh! Truly appreciate your stopping in to the channel! 🎸👍
Harley Benton’s is the same amp. Diff name. Killer value. But now
@@mhester99
You are correct, however remember Monoprice had it 1st…😎.
I didn’t know Monoprice had it first
I got the Monoprice version in mint condition on eBay for $200 with free shipping. It was the “newer” version with the upgraded tubes (can’t remember the details but I checked)
@@mhester99
Nice!! With this sale it’s brand new with free shipping for $202 so that’s a great price! 👍
I have the 15 watt amp and it really is an outstanding value. Probably the best Monoprice has to offer as far as musical stuff.
@@amandahuginkiss6868
Agreed!! I got mine on a great buy and love it! Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing! 🎸👍
Here is a link to the full review here: ruclips.net/video/leRZsoSeI3Y/видео.html

This amp is a beast and if you like the 5w you are going to
Love this!!
Have fun with whatever you decide Popo…

@@JimmyStewart1 have you ever thought about being part of a tech network separate from YT, that is mostly for music and guitar geeks?
Planning ahead to the day when censorship becomes universal, for ANYONE who doesn't fit the socially "correct" world that is being forced on YT viewers.
You've got to know there are so many really kick-ass independent artists, and content providers out there that someday, someone with money, power, and influence , (like BMI or MCA) will try and control the market for gain, and control
@@popogejo7245
Honestly…I have thought about a lot of things over the years…I was one of the 1st independent musicians and studio posting music online back in the beginning of the MP3 days…had my own studio and record label since early 80’s and have played on numerous other artists albums as well…the music business has changed tremendously in the past few decades, but it’s still a pretty messy business to be in…the only way currently to “make it” and keep afloat for most musicians today is to tour. It’s a grueling existence for most, unless you are in the Stones or Paul McCartney 😎. Selling music (albums, CD’s) is no longer profitable everyone wants to listen and download for free. I continue to do what I do for the love of it…👍🙏
Good info, Jimmy, for the Monoprice guys out there. Hope all is well with you, Chief!

Are you going to cave on anything? Monoprice Boardwalk flamed maple in sunburst. Blacked out hardware, triple bound body, and block inlays for 149. I’m in.😀

I have the Monoprice Stage Right 5w amp that I picked up for $250CAD tax in. Lovely simple amp, but even with its attenuator it's a private home amp and not ideal for an apartment.
It’s a great little amp, but yes…it’s a beast! 😎

Ah, crap. I just bought the 15 watt for $237. Still worth it.
Sorry David, however you are correct!! It’s worth it’s full price at $279.99 but it’s always nice to save some cash for sure!!
Appreciate your stopping in to the channel and sharing!! Enjoy that amp! 🎸👍
Unfortunately the 15% sitewide discount does not apply to the 50w combo. Boo!
Hi Alan.. thanks so much for watching and commenting!

@@JimmyStewart1 Hey, Jimmy. Thanks for your reply and advice. Think I'll check out Guitar Fetish as you suggested.
