Just for you to know Brad, most websites and apps have an auto defense system for DDOS attacks. When the site considers that the activity happening may be suspicious (like pausing a Netflix episode 500 times in a few minutes), they classify it as a possible attack to the servers and they ban your IP for an unknown period of time. Sometimes it's only a couple minutes, hours, but it may take even weeks to get unlocked.
The saturation caused by the healers during some games in a row probably triggered that safety system and you didn't receive a ban per se by Supercell, it was just the servers temporally rejecting your connection.
