I could not remember what I was thinking about when Leonard's Hamas position was mentioned live in the chat, but now I do.
There is a good video here by the user "GDF" about Hamas (titled "Sure, Hamas Are Nazis" -- sarcastic title) that actually spoke to the true nature of how Hamas came into being the party of choice for Palestinians, which goes against the idea that it was solely because of the Israeli occupation/oppression alone and a need to go more "radical".
I am not sure if that is 100% Leonard's reasoning but it does add some much needed nuance/good information as to how it came to be.

Sometimes its great to hear a position in a non-hostile forum just to recognize how terribly weak it is. You do a great interview, Jason ... and a hip hop comment you made post Hamas condemnation summed up the futility of idealism from which Leonard approached the issue. Well done.

Not sure where Mr Leonard is coming from. His analysis is off to me. I don’t agree with his statement on Hamas- shows s possible personal bias against the group
