Thanks for these. These are really great. I just got my boxed set a few days ago and i've been learning the game. Not only do you give great examples of what this game is like (i've been a d&d player for years and years and decided to try something different with all this WotC drama which has left me jaded), but your story and playstyle really adds a layer of understanding of what can be done with this game, and it has me inspired. Please, keep them coming. 😃
Thanks! It's a great game! And the music... Those are audio recordings taken from my living room (different family members playing around on our piano). 🙂
Really enjoyed this. I usually don’t (game plays in general are a bit boring) so big up to you sir!! I think your personality came across and added a bucket of charm. Be great if you did a video on character creation. I’ve just bought FL and although it looks fairly straight forward, however I didn’t pick up the nuisance of how to note down damage on the CS sheet like the way you did. Anyway, looking forward to No 9. Cheers dude Jo from London -gor blimey gov!
Bit late to the party here... Love that you've recorded this for us "newbies" out here. Couple questions though (at ~23:00) wouldn't you be able to dodge / block the worm's attack? (not sure w/ slashing damage) I don't think you took any fast actions w/ either of your melee combatants, did you? And also, your armor takes damage on "1's" only if you push, doesn't it? I'm rather new at this, so I might be wrong on all counts! Again, Thanks...
Oh man, I had to re watch this one to answer these great questions! 🙂 Against a monster, typically a block can't be used unless otherwise stated. I could have dodged though, you are correct there! (I forget stuff all the time when running several PCs. It's much better to have only one character you're responsible for). Lol!
Next question. Armor absorbing damage cannot be pushed as it's not a skill or attribute roll... So each "1" reduces it's effectiveness (unless all of the damage from a single attack is absorbed, then "1s" are ignored). 👍
And thanks for watching! Glad they help. All of these were recorded a while ago... And I'm starting to get the YT itch again. Maybe catch up my FL storyline? Might be fun. 😀
I'm playing Forbidden Lands solo using the guidelines in the Book of Beasts. My 1st combat was against a Death Knight, but it ended being a slog! I had no idea what I was doing. I had 4 npc's to help. 1 was a compion. NPC's are hard to use, cause that can't push rolls same with my companion! Found out qick that fleeing without being able to push rolls suck! Not sure if I wanna stick as close to the guidelines as I have been. These hirelings and my companion needs to do more....
Yeah, it was an adjustment for me at the start as well. I actually ran a "beta test" or "practice run" of combat with the 4 PCs in the quick start guide against a Death Knight... It was a complete disaster. TPK! I knew right then I was gonna love this game. Lol!
All of these solo videos were recorded before I got my hands on the book of beasts... So I kinda would just wing it! Maybe one of these days I'll get to recording some new stuff! 😀
Hey thanks! It's a really fun game and setting. (Currently I'm watching your Solo series of Forbidden Lands + Tiny Dungeons. I love it! The compatibility is fun to tinker with!)
@@Orang3zRPG indeed it is. But by watching your video I see that I was fool saying that the combat could be difficult in solo. You did a great job. I am willing to try it again.
Love these videos! I just wanna make sure that I didn’t miss anything but the damage to the abyss worm, were you supposed to negate some of the damage from its armor rating?
Glad you're enjoying them! 🙂Great question! I spent WP points to negate the worm's armor rating, so the successes rolled during the attacks were used in full. If not, the monster would get to roll it's armor defenses which might negate all/ some/ or no damage. The feature is in the Path of the Blade talent... and it's a GOOD one. (I had to re-watch to double check LOL!) Cheers!
@Orang3zRPG Old Barlows Mill - 3 generations ago from those now living in the hovel and squalor of the old run-down fort of Last Hope on edge of the Reaver Woods, there was a cantankerous and yet somewhat prosperous old Millwright named Barlow Durgull. The old mill was built along the high banks of the Whitebranch River. It is rumored that Old Barlow had one son Ray Durgull, but his wife was never mentioned. Some say the rumor is that Barlow and Ray did away with MA Durgull and placed her someplace behind an ancient stone door somewhere beneath the mills' cold stone basement walls. Others say she drowned and was taken down the river and at night can still be seen floating down river on a rotting raft looking for anyone who'll hear her tale and provide revenge. Still, others say that the horrid squeal sound of that old water wheel still turning is her cries for revenge beyond the grave. Maybe it's nothing more than rumor, and that rich old codger hid some loot below the mill. Who knows? But maybe it's worth a few days' journey? How about this, sir? 😊👊🎲
This is great! I love it! 😁 I'll type it up, get it in the story, and be sure to give you all the credit for your creativity! I'll point em your way, my friend! When this legend makes its appearance, I'll give you a heads up. 👍 Thanks again!
Did I? Oops! White 1s and Black 1s should stay on the board when a roll is pushed. Red 1s however, can be rerolled. 😕 I'll have to rewatch to see where I picked up a white or black 1 (AKA Bane).
@@Orang3zRPG im finding myself in the same situation. I have all these ideas on games or stories and they end up fizzling out in my head. Sometimes i ponder just playing thru them solo, othertimes i ponder just writing it all down as a short story or a book. Maybe when you get to the points in combat for example you can do the rolls to see exactly how the battle goes down, but i also dont reccommend writing combat blow for blows as a story. BUT bottom line you do what makes you happy man! You clearly have a passion. Im just genuinly interested in the solo play vs book thing

I love the background music. I haven't played Forbidden Lands yet, but I do enjoy your videos.

An interesting system and well presented! I like the level of detail, but it plays a bit slow. Lots of fun suspense!

I noticed you are picking up your ones on a push. They should be stuck, like the sixes are kept. Reread the push rule. Good demo though overall.
