    The kings taking up christianity in that time is a bit like a country joining the EU today, at least for the rulers its driven by the same urge for more power, though the rulers at that time probably actually cared about their own people to some degree at least, that cant be said about todays western rulers. Being the last few pagan kingdoms made them isolated politically and increasingly vulnerable. For a king as you said his position as a king got strengthened by christianity, it also speeded up centralization and spread of technology through the churches, it also made it easier to do diplomacy with the other powerfull kingdoms and it also made it possible for the king and his family members to marry other powerfull royal families, obtaining alliances and claims.
    Sadly we lost a lot of culture and heritage in the process.

      @@michaelwhity7382 You are exaggerating. Yes christianity is a europeanized foreign religion and ideally it would have been much better if paganism somehow reformed and was able to push back christianity once it started to spread into Europe. And there are some big weaknesses in christianity, its meek, submissive and globalist universal nature especially and im not christian either, as a Norwegian christianity feels very out-of-place, which the Golden One has mentioned before as well. Personally i prefer some sort of ancestor-worship, that actually makes sense and dont conflict with any science.
      But, dont fall into this trap where you think everything bad is christianity's fault, we were still christian 100 years ago and we were doing fine then, Poland is more christian than western Europe and they are doing fine. Blaming it all on christianity is a mistake and just one small piece of the puzzle. Its rather the lack of nationalism and ethno centrism that is our problem and we only ended up in our current situation when we actually stopped being religious.
      One thing one can blame christianity for is that it was too weak to withstand liberalism and modernity and the reason this has not happend yet in Poland/eastern Europe is because they were under communism, far more poverty and suffering and thus became tougher people more resistant to liberalism. Christianity can be used as a usefull tool, if combined with ethno nationalism. History has shown that what the bible says about this or that is not really that important, it can be inerpreted and formed in a way that is usefull for our side and historically christians has been very nationalistic and ethno centric. But a type of ancestor worship would fit much better today i think, a type of spiritual ethno nationalism.
      Anyway, dont fall into this frankly quite useless Varg Vikernes mentality where you blame christianity for everything, its simply not true. People like to find one thing to blame everything for, but reality is more complex. The main problem is that we became weak and easy targets for liberalism, and i dont think you can blame christianity for doing that, it was too weak to withstand it but it did not create it. If anything christianity is a shield against liberalism, even if it is a weak one its better than none. Would a pagan religion have shielded us more? Perhaps, or perhaps not. We dont know. Who knows, with a pagan religion we might have given the right to vote to women even earlier and ended up in these problems even faster.
      Personally i dont particularily like christianity, like most Norwegians, and im more fond of paganism though im a atheist. But people like you and Varg hate christianity so much you get a tunnel vision and draw these very convenient and simple conclusions. Christianity did come with some advantages, but like i said i would have prefered it had not come at all but we cant change history. We have to focus on what we have now, and honestly, if i could push a button and make all the atheists in Norway christian, myself included, i would do it. Why? Because it at least would give them a shield against the degeneracy and increase their birth rate and protect the traditional family. Its also been meassured in studies that religious christians are more ethno centric, despite whatever the bible says about turning the other cheek etc.
      However, this wont happen. But we cant have people just being soulless atheists degenerate, they are too easy targets for both islam and liberalism, we must give them some alternative and paganism is frankly not a solid enough alternative to this, maybe it can be in the future sometime if it gets more structured, and new rituals are constructed etc. but not right now, it will take time to create this. A ethno nationalism with a spiritual aspect in the way of ancestor worship is most realistic i think. That the meaning of life is not to worship some god, but do what you can for your people and acheive immortality through them and your offsprings. Thats something that is far easier to sell to atheists(which most of western europeans are).
      As for what @Swett is saying, he's in the other moron camp along with Nick fuentes & co. where they love calling pagans gay, despite its catholic priets that are raping small boys, not the pagans, and its the christians that are worshipping a middleeastern god, not the pagans. Obviously this pagan-bashing is also stupid. Have some respect for your pre-christian ancestors and real heritage. If you want to crticise paganism, do it with arguments. I can tell you right now that there is no way in hell that scandinavians will become christian during the next 100 years, so personally im more focused on what we can do, and no sow division between those that are christian in other countries, and atheists or pagans. At least the pagans are trying to create something and thats better than nothing. It might seem larpy right now but so does christianity here in Scandinavia, and btw there is a lot of diffrent pagans, you have these hippie-leftist pagan organizations too just as you have in christianity now as well, so dont pretend like pagans are all like that, they are as diffrent as a liberal christian and ethno nationalist christian.
      This ended up being a bit of a messy comment but to sum it up:
      If you encocunter pagans that are liberal, yes attack them for it, same with christians. But other than that, if they are ethno nationalist then respect them and work with them no matter if they are atheist, christian or pagans. There's nothing you can do with paganism or christianity right now that will have any impact at all at our people so its a waste of time. You dont argue over the colour of the sail while the ship is sinking. We need to focus on making people redpilled, collectivists, nationalistic and ethno centric. Neither paganism, christianity or atheism prevents people from becoming redpilled and nationalistic so dont waste time on it. We dont have time to mass convert people to a religion and its simply not realistic. We can argue over what religion is best for our people once we have saved the Europeans. Untill then we should focus on pushing ethno nationalism and promoting that as a meaningfull and strong alternative to liberalism and anything else.

      @Duncan M that is objectively false. before the migration era of the 5th century, central asia and the upper castes of india and iran were white. The moving of the Huns westward eliminated or assimilated european central asians (scythian tribes) and coexistence with iranians and dravidians made the whites of those regions mix with them and create what is basically a new population. I am not saying christianity caused this, but up until the late middle ages, whiteness was at its "lowest", where whites did not even control the entiret of europe, as parts of the Iberian and Balkan peninsulas were controlled by non whites from the Middle East. The Russian orthodox princedoms paid tribute to non white mongols. It was not until the discovery of the Americas that whites started dominating again. Look into the Aryan invasion to learn more.
      As for European civilisation, do you truly think your ancestors were utter retards without the teachings of the bible? If the teachings of the bible are a key to success, why have the non Christian East Asians been historically more successful than Christian Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa?

      I've seen this line of thinking many times before, but I find the 'logical' conclusion most follow it with rather lacking. 'Christianity is weak and fell to liberalism, so lets revert to an ethos that *fell* to Christianity.'
      Very rational...

    • @TheSunderingSea
      @TheSunderingSea 3 года назад +1

      @@MarikHavair Viking sees religion as a system in a strategy game rather then a set of beliefs someone holds, which makes sense as he isn't religious. As a Christian, I see my religion in a very different way, and I also disagree with the idea that Christianity fell to liberalism or that it preaches weakness. It preaches a certain amount of tolerance and trying to solve issues first peacefully, but any reading of the bible can tell you that violence is not ruled out, nor particularly rare even in the New Testament. As for the idea that it fell to liberalism, in reality secularism pushed out religion in society through violence and continual pressure since at least the French Revolution but for most of Europe this began in the middle of the 19th century. Liberalism did not infect Russia and most of Eastern Europe in any real way until the Abdication of the Tsar in February 1917. Basically what we have today is almost entirely a result of secularism and a lack of religion in people.

    In old times, west europe was christanized long time before east europe. After that, they started crusades against east europe and east europe had to switch to christianity to prevent this. In modern times west europe is being islamized and EU is doing restrictions against the east europe. History is repeating itself. This time we have a knowledge about what is happening, therefore it is possible to have a better end.

    • @Vikingskog
      @Vikingskog 5 лет назад +6

      There are some parallels that can be drawn though what is happening now is 10 times worse and more sinister than the christianization, and far bigger. The christianization was a easy way for the ruler to gain more power and reduce the risk of conflict with neigboring nations, with the price being sacrificing the native religion and parts of the culture and killing the part of his own people who did not agree. As a European one can still make a rational argument for supporting that.
      This islamization and mass immigration of today is something quite diffrent, its not about just greed or comfort, but about hate. From the top its driven by people who dont just want to gain a bit more power but actually want to destroy us and everything european. On the lower levels we have politicians/elites who let it happen because its the easiest thing to do and easiest way to gain more power right now, there will always be people like that.
      No doubt we will within the next 10-20 years start witnessing some European elites converting to islam just to secure their power and safety for a few more decades.

    I graduated from highschool through a paper on the christianization of the North and parellels to the modernization of Japan, and it felt reassuring to hear many points of my paper reappear here, the most important one being that it had little to do with spirituality and more with the rulers wanting more [spiritally rooted in this case] control over the people, and better connections or trade with the rest of Europe.

    Me as a Pagan, will still accept Christians in our between, but it will never be the ideal religion of our folk, since we were always Pagans in our roots, our inspiration and in our Gnosis, the history of our Race's birth, since the arrival of our Gods beyond the stars, but it's one thing at a time, i'd rather make friends with our Christian mates than to fight unnecessarily on lots of Fronts at once, it's how we lost, eventually if the Christians will come to our side or not is a discussion i would rather have now, we must do it have AFTER we win, not before, not during the conflicts, and boys, it will be the hardest one by far

      @Fro Ing Yeah must be why the Romans started to kick them out after Constantine, it's not like the Bible showcases how many times they as a people strayed from God and were punished for it. Whether it was/is moloch or worshiping a cow. Ethnic religions are simply relativistic in the end, which is why you can't criticize groups like the Canaanites for sacrificing infants on a heated statue.

    • @zenn-3817
      @zenn-3817 4 года назад

      @Fro Ing Well what if the good by my folk is to eradicate certain nearby folk and we were to succeed? Can you say that their position is inherently wrong? If it is, I don't see how you'd apply the belief of your folk to others based off what you said.

    • @zenn-3817
      @zenn-3817 4 года назад

      @Fro Ing Then it is relativistic, it's not an objective moral code or set of principles in your world view, it's just arbitrary. So I don't have to care about your position and can dismiss it because the position of your folk is irrelevant to me according to you. In terms of principles, you couldn't object to other folk wanting to eradicate you because it's their position to do so and you have no say in it. The only thing you could do is resist, but if you fail then it doesn't matter, you simply lost. You'd also have to define what good and bad is to begin with. Either way, it seems like this simply devolves into Social Darwinism and has no concrete set of values. Another example is you shouldn't have a problem with or be disturbed by other folk doing rituals where sacrificing an infant or cannibalism is common place yes?

    So from what i know,Swedes adapted to Christianity because of the compatible social norms and morals of Vikings and Christians.What i mean is both were intolerant of degeneracy and reprobacy,something which today is considered norma.And also the downfall of Sweden began in the 19th century with the simultaneous downfall of christianity and rise of democracy,a process solidified in the 1930-1950s by the socialist government and going on to the present day.That's at least my perspective,i don't know too much about swedish history so yeah😁😁

    If there was a wide nationalist awakening, would you support the notion of the Scandinavian countries ditching the EU and then forming a new Kalmar Union?

      You take my comment for an anti-Finnish one rather than an anti-larping atheist one. Christians conquered Finland, either way.

      Birca is the Latinised form given in the sources and Birka its contemporary, unhistorical Swedish form. The Latin name is probably derived from an Old Norse word "birk" which probably meant a market place.

    Christ is King, pagans were gay. Love your content but I gotta be honest with you man, Christ is the only way to Peace and Heaven. There is a reason why those European countries were on the winning team when they accepted Christ, Jesus brings order, joy and peace.

    My own independent research revealed to me that Christianity is not a native faith of indigenous European people. Myself I am a Indo-European. I was born in Russia Rostov-on-Don, and raised there until age 13 before my family moved us to USA. My mother is Russian and father is Armenian. Both Russia and Armenia prior to becoming Christianized were pagan. Both pagan Slavic Rus & pagan Armenia shared symbols such as swastika, double headed eagle, and both ethnic Slavs & Armenians identify with Aryans. I am not forcing this on anyone, but my research showed me that Christianity was introduced on both sides of my heritage the Russians and Armenians through sword and fire. I personally deny Christianity, or any other religion, including materialistic scientism. I am currently exploring the native spiritual heritage of my ancestors, which is Slavic paganism. Christianity never made sense to me. As far as theoretical materialistic scientism goes, it is just another religion to me. When I started to discover my Slavic pagan roots, everything started to make sense. I am half Armenian on my father’s side, but unfortunately I never got an opportunity to absorb any of Armenian language or culture. Because of this I basically identify with my Slavic side, being that I was born and raised there until age 13. Christianity is a very complicated topic, but to summarize, I will say that to me Christianity is a method of mass mind control. Some elements of christianity are repackaged paganism. It’s a melting pot of many different traditions and religions presented in a distorted form. Mainly Christianity seems to be a distorted form of sun worship. Again it’s a very complicated deep topic. I believe Christianity was mainly created for political purposes. This ideology is anti-ethnic. Christianity makes people meek, weak, and obedient. Besides, Christianity itself has Jewish roots. Christianity comes from Jewish Christianity, and so it has nothing at all to do with European people. There is nothing in the Bible that says anything about indigenous European people.
