  • Sign Language Testimony of Mr. Toshihisa Nakata, an A-bombed Deaf in Hiroshima
A series of eight films "The Sign Language Testimonies of Deaf A-bomb Survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki", produced with the support of the Ohdake Foundation, will be released by March 2025.
Toshihisa Nakada was born in Hiroshima City in 1937. His father's work took him to Manchuria, but he returned after a few years and entered a school for the deaf in Hiroshima.
He left the city once because of the evacuation of school children, but returned to his home in Hiroshima three days before the atomic bombing and was exposed to the bomb.
Fortunately, his entire family was safe, but he lost hishome and all of his belongings.
To avoid discrimination, Mr. Nakada hid the fact that he was an atomic bomb survivor, but eventually began to talk about his experience.
We hope that as many people as possible will know and appreciate Mrs. Nakada's terrible experience of the atomic bombing.
