Awesome tutorial video about QOwnNotes! It really was the most sophisticated and extensive so far! Thanks a lot! (Disclaimer: I'm the author of QOwnNotes 😉)
I am happy with Hedgedoc, simple and straightforward, no steep learning curve. I am also familiar with Obsidian and Logseq, but in the end I want to save time and have a web interface that I can use on any platform or device.
folks must be taking a lot of notes in order to need something like this... lol.. I'll just stick to jotting thing in notepad++.. local, simple and does the job. Thx for sharing!
I run NextCloud in my network, and I use a reverse proxy to make it available with a URL and SSL, and then just set that up on QOwnNotes. I have a video on setting up NextCloud AIO (All In One) in docker as well. wiki.opensourceisawesome.com/books/nextcloud-all-in-one/page/install-and-setup-nextcloud-all-in-one-aio
Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing us this awesome video and open source application! :D I was just wondering if QOwnNotes could also allow us to import, open, view and edit any EXCELL files, WORD Files, NOTEPAD Files and IMAGES and PHOTOS? Thanks again!
Great video as always, just one small complaint. The intro portion even on full screen on my desktop had the "meat" in a window about a 1/4 of my desktop. You almost always do a zoom in on such things..... Disregard the complaint, I am an idiot. I did not realize I was looking at their website until the install portion started. Best Regards from North Florida
Just store them in any folder that syncs, and they'll be synced. I want to be clear, however, a sync is not a backup. If you change something in one place, it's changed everywhere that is synced.
@@AwesomeOpenSource Not sure what's going on here. The video is definitely darker than it should be, at least it is on my system. I posted a screenshot of your video showing the discover store page for qOwnNotes next to the same page in my discover store app on imgur. RUclips will kill my comment if I post the full link, so if you care to see it add the following to the imgur base URL. /a/U5UF4PM
Personally I would love something like notion that is served through the browser instead of having to install a client app. But in the meantime I like Trillium is pretty sweet imho.
You can 100% use Trilium straight through your browsr instead of through the client app if you prefer it that way, just FYI. There are a few others that are pretty much browser based only as well.
Me too. I think for businesses, they look at ROI. Not knowing what kind of "I" (investement) this tool might take is where I feel like Open Source falls flat in a lot of cases unfortunately. Bur FOSS projects are getting much better at positioning themselves as viable business tools, giving pricing, offering hosted options, and so on. So there's still hope.
Go to the settings for the application and you can change the layout. You need to be sure to save the changes, and the app may have to restart when you do.
Yes, in Settings >> Go to Editor > Preview thenuncheck the option for "Use Editor Highlighting..." and then you can choose your font below that option.
I would say that's something you'd hae to decide. Each person has different needs. I think there are some amazing tools out there, and I love trying them out, but a lot of times all of the features a tool has is truly overkill for my needs, so I tend to move to something that fits my needs better over time. Maybe obsidian is perfect for your needs, or maybe QOwnNotes will really fit you better in the end.
I don't know that it won't. I just believe that QOwnnotes has a joplin importer built in. And it looks like @0xpbek has written an importer for QOwnNotes.

I appreciate it, and truly appreciate the incredible open source software!
Great app!
OMG!!! Love your app!
@@AwesomeOpenSource, thank you! Keep on your great work on reviewing FLOSS software!
@@Romaoplays thank you 😉

That looks like a nice roundup.
Great timing as I was looking for videos of this app after hearing Tom Lawrence saying this is his favorite note app.
Great to hear it! I love LawrenceSystems and his coverage of the new pfSense features in particular, but all of his topics are great.
Great video as usual but to be honest it's going to be really hard for me to move from Obsidian until we get similar features and UI.
LogSeq might be what you want then, but I understand.
Affine seems like might get there too, quite active development.
Great video!
@@AwesomeOpenSource That's actually really interesting ! Thanks alot !
@@MrTrueSky Thanks for sharing the project it seem's to be a nice alternative too.

Obligatory Emacs comment.
Nice

If it works for you, then definitely keep using it.
Same. If I need anything more complicated, I remember that load/save session exists in it.
Thanks but I'm sticking with my napkin.
If it works for you, then use it. No problems with doing that for sure.
HEY. How do you have a Nextcloud snyc for free? Do you use your router for that? Can you please make a video about that?? Thx...

It can do JSON import, so if you could get those into a JSON format...maybe.

No worries my friend.
Do you think I can encrypt my notes locally and back them up to GoogleDrive/OneDrive?
Does this make sense?
Just store them in any folder that syncs, and they'll be synced. I want to be clear, however, a sync is not a backup. If you change something in one place, it's changed everywhere that is synced.
Why is this video so dark? Was this shot on a literal camera?
I don't know what you mean. Looks fine to me. I used OBS like always.

I still wish more businesses would start using tools like these instead of big tech top to bottom, even governments.....

May i ask:how to reselect the panel layout from the minimal to full mode?
Go to the settings for the application and you can change the layout. You need to be sure to save the changes, and the app may have to restart when you do.
could i change font used in the markdown preview panel ?
Yes, in Settings >> Go to Editor > Preview thenuncheck the option for "Use Editor Highlighting..." and then you can choose your font below that option.

Thanks, I'll stick with Obsidian.
If it works for you, that's great.
I was just starting to test Trillium. This may be better for my use cases
Hope it's a great fit!
Pretty neat note taking tool. Love the idea of integration with Nextcloud.
I've really been enjoying it I must say.
do you have to pay for nextcloud? is it worth it?
I use obsidian, can it substitute it for me?

Joplin won't export to a format qownnotes understands?
I wrote a Joplin import in QOwnNotes. 😉
