@@jtonneck I used to catch keepers all day long when I lived in San Diego. I live in Vegas now and will head down to SD this weekend. But yea, my spot (Shelter Island Pier) is a lot more challenging nowadays. A keeper on that pier is like 1 out of 20 catches. Haha. I use plastics
Sorry about the injury. I pray for a quick recovery. What a trooper doing what you love with a great friend Jun. The prep on the fish and end result makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for sharing, your friend Richard Carabio Menifee, California 🙏
Definitely going to put sisig in my recipe rotation. I love whitefish but I get tired of it quickly so new recipes to keep it fresh are always welcome.
Great video Taku! What a wicked catch & cook. Delicious meal. Going halibut fishing in 2 weeks off the cost of northern Vancouver Island. Can’t imagine if I can try this for my family! Thanks for sharing!!!
this looks amazing. Filipinos across RUclips are rejoicing your skills. Im going to have to try this out myself. Masarap is equivalent to saying Oishi in Japanese btw.
All these wonderful comments about your cooking, betting better, Jocelyn, your camera man, your knife skills etc. such positivity is so great to see on the internet. Now what I really want to know is where you got that spatula? It’s like a fishing lure for cooks. Bright, colourful and shiny.
I've only cooked twice in my life and both times were your dishes. One was a quick and basic sashimi dish and the other one was one of your potato salad with salmon dish. They were both bomb af. Can't wait for your cookbook.
Hey Taku. Live in Bend Oregon, gearing up for a black tail hunt near Medford in November. Hunting burn areas. Probably one of the best eating deer and simple hunts you can do as a starter in Oregon. I grew up here and am a big fan. If you want to catch fish and shoot a deer in late October/ early November let me know. The deer aren't big compared to big mule deer, but if you are interested in getting started hunting, it is a great way to begin. It's a high percentage hunt on public land which is always challenging. No matter what. Keep doing what you do. 👍️ Appreciate you man.
Good vid guys . Nice to see you cooking a different style that's what makes you a good Cheff ❤. Looking forward to that cook book . Coming all the way to South Africa
filo here, never knew halibut would look and taste criminally delicious in sisig! More filipino dishes taku! oh and we wish your foot would recover as soon as possible too
Hey an idea for a video while you heal might be a video on the cost and logistics of trips you take. It seems interesting and might help some of us get out there. Thanks
I'm not too familiar with Filipino food, but I love Sisig. One of my favorite dishes along with Sinigang. Didn't even know sisig can made with other meats besides pork. This is a game-changer for me!
Love your channel brudah. Sorry about your injury but time & rest will help you heal. Gotta stay put & stay off that ankle otherwise it’ll just take longer to heal bro. Prayin 🙏🏽you get better soon so you can be 💯 on your upcoming trip. Can’t wait too see that post. 👊🏽
Broke my ankle and tore acl. Had double surgery 5 weeks ago. I’m bummed my summer is gone but recovering every day to get back to walking normally. Good luck on recovery.
Just went through the same thing with a major foot sprain. Its been almost 2.5 months and im still limping a little bit. It caused a blood clot that ended up in my lung but i didnt die that was cool. Hope your recovery goes seamlessly and quickly.
Taku, Subscriber from the beginning, intermediate commenter. Nurse Practitioner for 25 years. You can also add anti inflammatories which include Ibuprofen. all helps with the healing process.
Pare! Finally made a Pinoy dish and with the best view ever too! That was sketch with two people on that one person kayak. Good thing you were blessed with a Cali King once again. Hope the population rebounds! Super proud Pinoy for this video. Maraming salamat! 🇵🇭 Hope you feel better dude! 🙏🏾 Wish I can fish with y'all and eat all that sick af food you whip up after. I'll be in Alaska at around labor day weekend trying to send home a check-in luggage worth of salmon if the fish gods will it.😅 Our group almost ran into you at the Homer Spit in 2022. I think we yelled at you while driving by 😂 It'd be an honor to snag in Seward or flip in the Kenai with y'all if it's even remotely possible. My friends up in AK are great fans!Otherwise gambate anyways and kampai!
Hey Taku, would love to see you cook the filipino dish called Crispy Pata. It would be interesting to see your take on this all-time favorite. Also serves as an excellent beer match.
My old town did the same thing. Your male and female connections must be fully connected, clean and not overly wet. I just double check them when out on the water. I can wait for your cook book man!!!!
A cool useful thing I found on the internet. Instead of using a boat gaff on the kayak, get a carbon fiber golf club shaft and get a 12/0 or bigger hook, cut the eye off, and epoxy it into the shaft. Small, light, strong, and extremely effective. Much easier to deal with in the yak.
Get a bucket and put ice in bucket halfway and add water for the other half and soaked your foot in bucket for 30 minutes twice a day. Took me 2 weeks to fully recover and walk again after repeating the ice bucket soak. Stay strong my dude! Hope this help.
Tens device, grounding mat, massage. Also with your cookbook could you have a chapter on how to fillet a fish, step-by-step, maybe with hyperlinks to our videos?
There’s live bait available at HMB! Johnson pier inside Pillar Point Harbor, near the end there’s a ramp down to a floating dock and there’s a guy who sells live anchovies.
im suprised havent seen you make sinigang yet with any fish you catch. im sure rockfish or any firm fish u catch will work with it. we catch pompano here in the texas surf in the winter and use it for sinigang. tomato mustard greens asian green beans egg plant okra garlic onion and knoors tamarind soupp base. love the mustard greens in it, have to put alot, it will go by quick lol.
Damn bro you really representing the asian community with your catch and cooks. I was so happy when you made that kamayan style video and now sisig? Thank you Taku and Jocelyn✊🏼❤️
As a Filipino 🇵🇭 , Now I’m gonna have to go and struggle to catch me one and copy this recipe this weekend. Wish me luck!
You got it!
Easy to catch if you have live bait, I’m 2 for 2
